Charlie Sheen in Talks for "Anger Management" TV Series
Posted: July 6th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Comedy Central recently announced that it will air a Roast for the actor during the same day that "Two and a Half Men" will return to television with Ashton Kutcher. But Sheen is planning a bigger return to TV.

He is now in talks with Revolution Studios and Lionsgate Television on an "Anger Management" TV series, based on the popular Adam Sandler comedy. If cast, Sheen would play Jack Nicholson's character, a counselor who helps patients deal with anger management in potentially infuriating ways.

"I'm gonna be involved in every aspect of it," said Sheen. Joe Roth, who produced the "Anger Management" movie, is also involved.

Watch Taylor Lautner's Field Of Dreams Remake Trailercomments published: 2011-07-06 12:36:13 Author: Josh Tyler
Back in 1989 when Kevin Costner made Field of Dreams you could still make the case that baseball was America’s pastime. These days, it’s not even close. Football has taken over as the clear number one sport in America and, with the NFL lockout looming it seems almost appropriate that someone would remake Field of Dreams as a football movie. That someone is Taylor Lautner… sort of.

Find out what it would look like if Taylor Lautner made Field of Dreams in the modern era, by watching him in the trailer for Field of Dreams 2: NFL Lockout. It’s packed with cameos from real football stars, and if you hang in there till the end, you’ll even get a little Kevin Costner:

David Schwimmer Wants To Adapt Upton Sinclair's The Jungle
published: 2011-07-06 17:42:39 Author: Sean O'Connell

Though David Schwimmer will forever be known as Ross from Friends (which is what happens when you are part of one of television’s most successful sitcoms), his fledgling directorial career so far is characterized by films that couldn’t be more different in tone and subject matter. He got his feet wet with the Simon Pegg comedy Run Fatboy Run before moving on to Trust, which discusses the dangers of Internet chat rooms. And it was during a Web chat on behalf of Trust that Schwimmer revealed what his next project might be.

During a revealing conversation with Empire, where he updated fans on the status of Madagascar 3 (he has recorded his vocal parts) and confessed to his favorite sandwich (a medium-rare cheeseburger with mustard, tomato, lettuce and onion), Schwimmer said that he’s optioned the rights to an adaptation of Upton Sinclair’s epic turn-of-the-century novel The Jungle. Schwimmer says it will be a “character-driven” story about “a young immigrant from Lithuania to the meat-packing industry of Chicago in 1904, and the rise of the unions in America.” Once again, completely different from his previous efforts.

I also like that in the same interview, Schwimmer tells one chat participant that he’d love to try his hand at a good horror script. Who knew Ross was so versatile? Of course, he’ll need Trust to make a little money before a studio is willing to bankroll a sizeable production of The Jungle. But Schwimmer’s fearlessness behind the lens so far has led to some creative decisions, and it’s exciting to see just where his talents will take him next.

Seth Rogen, Jonathan Levine, Will Reiser And Evan Goldberg Reteaming For Jamaica
: 2011-07-06 17:11:09 Author: Eric Eisenberg

The two best movies that I've seen thus far this year won't be released until September. The first is Nicholas Winding Refn's Drive, which I reviewed from this year's Los Angeles Film Festival, but the second is the Johnathan Levine 50/50. A dramedy starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick, Anjelica Huston and Bryce Dallas Howard, I've previously remarked that the film is a perfect balance between drama and comedy featuring some of the greatest performances that you will see in 2011. Now, just as Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling did when it was revealed the two would be teaming up again for Only God Forgives, the folks behind 50/50 are sticking with the formula that works.

THR has learned that Rogen, Evan Goldberg, writer Will Reiser and Jonathan Levine are set to make their second film together. The project, titled Jamaica, once again draws from Reiser's personal experiences, as the story will be loosely based on a vacation he took with his grandmother when he was 14. Staying in the same formation established in 50/50, Reiser will write the script, Levine will direct, and both Rogen and Goldberg will produce.

You may not appreciate this news now, but come September 30 you are going to be thanking the heavens that this group is getting back together. Much of what makes 50/50 so incredible is how real everything feels, and all of that comes from Reiser's script, which is based on his fight with cancer. While I'd be satisfied to see this group tackle a original concept too, the fact that Reiser is calling this a passion project suggests to me that we should be heavily anticipating Jamaica now.

Adam West Cameo In Dark Knight Rises?
published: 2011-07-06 13:05:08 Author: Josh Tyler
It’s been awhile since we’ve had a completely bonkers Dark Knight Rises rumor. There hasn’t been any need for them, since the studio has now actually confirmed the cast. But here we go again. This time the big rumor is that Adam West is joining the movie’s cast.

The rumor originated with Floss Magazine, where they offer nothing beyond a vague proclamation to back up their findings. So the story here is I guess that some magazine says Adam West will have a cameo in Chris Nolan’s next Batman movie. Stranger things have happened. Believe it or not?

I’m going with “not” here, because casting Adam West in your movie would be a gimmick and Christopher Nolan isn’t prone to gimmicks. For fans over the age of fifty this addition might be kind of fun, he was the original TV Batman after all, but how many in The Dark Knight Rises audience are old enough to care? Definitely not enough to justify a gimmicky stunt casting.

There’s also Adam West’s age to consider. He’s 83-years-old and perhaps not getting around as well as he used to. Most of his appearances in recent years have been confined to voice work on Family Guy, though he does occasionally show up in the odd Funny or Die web video.

We’ll let you know if this rumor gets confirmed, but don’t count on it. So far Chris Nolan has shown no inclination towards this type of gimmickry, this isn’t a Marvel movie and Adam West isn’t Stan Lee.

Chris Klein Talks AMERICAN REUNION

by Adam Chitwood   Posted: July 1st, 2011

Writer-directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) have managed to bring every major cast member back for the fourth entry in the American Pie franchise, American Reunion. The film is currently shooting, and actor Chris Klein recently spoke a bit about what to expect from the film and where his character Oz is now:

[Oz] has moved to a beach house in Malibu. He’s found his way to Hollywood, where he works as a sportscaster on an NFL show. And he has a young girlfriend, Mia, played by Katrina Bowden (30 Rock), who is really, really funny. He gets his invite to the reunion and decides to go with his girlfriend.”
Hit the jump to see what else he had to say about the sequel. In addition to Klein, the film reunites Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge and Shannon Elizabeth. http://collider.com/chris-klein-american-reunion/100022/

Adrianne Palicki to Play Lady Jaye in G.I. JOE: COBRA STRIKES

by Matt Goldberg   Posted: July 1st, 2011

Adrianne Palicki will play the female lead in Jon Chu’s G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes.  According to Deadline, Palicki will play Lady Jaye (pictured above in what I seriously doubt is an approved military uniform).  The cast for the film continues to fill out as Paramount positions the sequel to be one of their summer 2012 tentpoles.  Palicki joins returning cast members Channing Tatum (who plays Duke), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), and Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow) along with new recruits Dwayne Johnson (Roadblock), RZA (Blind Master), D.J. Cotrona (Flint), and Elodie Yung (Jinx).  One of the major roles yet to be cast is original G.I. Joe, Joe Colton.  Deadline reports that Bruce Willis is the top choice for the role and he would certainly add some star power to the flick.
Hit the jump for a brief bio on Lady Jaye.  G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes opens August 10, 2012. http://collider.com/gi-joe2-adrianne-palicki-lady-jaye/99998/

Ben Foster Joins PROMETHEUS? Official Synopsis Revealed

by Matt Goldberg   Posted: July 1st, 2011

Ridley Scott’s Alien-prequel-but-not-an-Alien-prequel Prometheus already has a stellar cast.  The sci-fi flick features Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, and Guy Pearce, and now JoBlo is reporting that Ben Foster has signed on.  Almost everything about the film is being kept under wraps so we don’t know what role he’ll play, but Foster is a fantastic addition to any cast.
We’re still awaiting official confirmation from Fox on Foster’s casting, but the studio has dismissed yesterday’s rumored synopsis. Instead, they’ve provided an official synopsis which deserves some kind of award for vagueness.  Here’s what the synopsis tells you definitively: the movie takes place in outer space (and we already knew that).  Hit the jump to read the synopsis and learn nothing.  Prometheus opens in 3D on June 8, 2012. http://collider.com/prometheus-ben-foster-synopsis/99966/

"Alien" Prequel Plot Synopsis Revealed?

Posted: July 1st, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequel, called "Prometheus," is a top secret project for the director and 20th Century Fox. While bits of information have leaked out through interviews, we have yet to piece together the plot of the film.

Now, AlienPrequelNews has got their hands on a possible and every detailed plot synopsis for "Prometheus." And while we don't know if this plot is accurate, it seems to fit perfectly with everything that we've previously heard. Read at your own risk.

SPOILERS AHEAD:

Earth. Year 2058.

Archaeological digs in Africa reveal alien artifacts that humans were genetically engineered by a advanced alien race (space jockeys). These "Alien Gods" also terraformed Earth in order to make it habitable for their human creations. Amongst finds are coordinates to the Alien God’s home-world, to Paradise. Months later the Weyland Corp launch the spaceship PROMETHEUS and his crew, into deep space to make first contact. Thanks to faster than light travel a few years later the PROMETHEUS enters the Zeta Riticuli star system. Humans are greeted by their makers, then transported further into space to a scary yet fascinating world. The Alien Gods are proud of their "children," their first creation to reach such levels of intelligence.

As a reward they share bits of their astonishing bio-based technologies with the humans. But for one crew member of the Prometheus it's not enough. In a treacherous act he steals the "bio-source code" to Terraforming, a technology at the origin of all Gods' power, that could make humans equal to the gods. The Alien Gods may be scientists but are also ruthless conquerors, destroyers of worlds who will not accept humans as equals. They unleash on the escaping human crew their favorite bio-weapon, a creature used to "clean up" worlds before colonization. But something goes wrong in the process and humans manage to turn the bio-weapon against their makers. Giving birth to a smarter, nastier, bigger breed of gut eating creatures. Creatures that will be the demise of Paradise. What's left of the Prometheus crew manages to escape the doomed planet.

On their trail a survivor Alien God in very familiar ship with one ultimate mission. Bring the wrath of the Gods to Earth.

First Look: Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway in "The Dark Knight Rises" Set Video

Posted: July 1st, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Christopher Nolan is currently shooting "The Dark Knight Rises," the third film in the franchise. And while he tries really hard to keep as much of the story secret as possible, there are always people who are able to take a photo or a video of the filming.

Today we have a video of a rainy scene in which Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) knocks on the door of a house, but get no answer. At that point, Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway) walks up and they leave together. Check out the video below.

The hand-holding may indicate that that there is a romantic part to their relationship. And it's likely that they'll also team up as Batman and Catwoman, clearing up why Michael Caine previously said that Batman and another character will leave the mansion to fight crime.

Set Photos From THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Reveal Rebuilt Wayne Manor

by Adam Chitwood  Posted: June 26th, 2011

the-dark-knight-rises-set-photo-slice
Some new set photos from The Dark Knight Rises have hit the web giving us our first look at the rebuilt Wayne Manor. As you recall, Batman’s house went all up in flames in Batman Begins, then he worked out of an underground command center in The Dark Knight, so it looks like he’ll finally be getting a decent home in Rises. The photos also reveal a graveyard that was built adjacent to Wollaton Hall in England, which is standing in for Wayne Manor. Will we finally be seeing Bruce Wayne visit his parents’ grave?
Hit the jump to check out the images. The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Matthew Modine, Josh Pence, Brett Cullen, Juno Temple, Nestor Carbonell, Tom Conti, Joey King, Chris Elli, Josh Stewart, Daniel Sunjata, Diego Klattenhoff and Burn Gorman. The film hits theaters on July 20th, 2012.  http://collider.com/the-dark-knight-rises-set-photos/98927/

Warner Bros. Still Planning GREEN LANTERN Sequel

by Adam Chitwood   Posted: June 26th, 2011

Despite an underwhelming box office and middling reviews, Warner Bros. is apparently still moving forward with a sequel to Green Lantern. Back in August, we reported that screenwriter Michael Goldenberg (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) had been hired to pen the follow-up, working from a treatment by the first film’s writers Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, and Marc Guggenheim. However, director Martin Campbell has stated that he won’t be back for another go around. THR reports that Warner Bros. “still believes” in the franchise and is hopeful that it will have long legs in theaters. Hit the jump for more. http://collider.com/green-lantern-2-warner-bros/98896/

Leaked MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL Trailer

by Dave Trumbore    Posted: June 26th, 2011

Though it will air before Transformers: Dark of the Moon this Wednesday, we have an early look at the trailer for Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. It’s a bit difficult to glean plot details from the trailer as it’s in French, but an English cut should be arriving shortly. Language barrier aside, it’s reassuring to see that the fourth installment in the Mission: Impossible series has shaken off the rust of a five year hiatus. The action and effects look like what you would expect from the M:I series and Tom Cruise still appears to be up to the physical demands. Though he may not be around much longer, as many suspect he will pass the M:I torch to co-star Jeremy Renner. Hit the jump to check out the trailer. http://collider.com/mission-impossible-ghost-protocol-trailer/98883/

International Trailer for RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

by Jason Barr    Posted: June 17th, 2011

20th Century Fox has released a new international television trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Although only one minute long, I definitely feel like this is the best cut of the film I’ve seen so far if for only two reasons: 1) It doesn’t include the line of dialogue “That chimp’s company property!” 2) It depicts an ape taking out a dickish guy on a cell phone who definitely had it coming. Directed by Rupert Wyatt, Rise of the Planet of the Apes stars James Franco, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, and Tom Felton.
Check out the new trailer after the jump. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is slated to hit theaters on August 5th. Click here to check out all of our previous Apes coverage.  http://collider.com/rise-of-the-planet-of-the-apes-international-trailer/97107/

New Red Band Trailer for 30 MINUTES OR LESS

by Jason Barr    Posted: June 17th, 2011

A new red band trailer for director Ruben Fleischer’s (Zombieland) comedy 30 Minutes or Less is now available online and it rings of nostalgia for the time “you and I worshiped the devil for like two weeks.” Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Danny McBride, Aziz Ansari, Nick Swardson, and Michael Pena, the film centers on a pizza delivery guy (Eisenberg) who is kidnapped by two men (McBride and Swardson) and forced to rob a bank at the risk of being blown up. Thus far, everything I’ve seen from the film has made me laugh and I can’t wait to check it out in theaters on August 12th. The first image of Tom Cruise in director Adam Shankman’s (Hairspray) Rock of Ages adaptation has landed online. Cruise is playing the role of rocker Stacee Jaxx in the pic and, from the looks of this first image, will have no reservations about performing without a shirt. Paul Giamatti, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Malin Akerman, Bryan Cranston, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J. Blige, and Julianne Hough star alongside Cruise in Rock of Ages which hits theaters on June 1st, 2012. Hit the jump to check out the image. Finally, in case you weren’t already aware, Rock of Ages is based on the 2006 musical of the same name and tells the story of a small town girl (Hough) who falls in love with Cruise’s larger-than-life-rocker, Stacee Jaxx, against the backdrop of classic 80s selections from groups such as Journey, Foreigner, Styx, and REO Speedwagon. http://collider.com/rock-of-ages-movie-image-tom-cruise/97093/

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer! Real or Fake?

Jun 17, 2011 by B. Alan Orange
"The storm is coming!" Could they be talking about a two year storm of fan made videos? A teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises has made its way online, but all signs point to this being a really good fake. What called our attention to its authenticity, though, is the fact that it was shot pirate-style inside a movie theater, and there is a cheering audience. Are we hearing real people show their enthusiasm for this highly anticipated DC Comics adventure, or is it canned excitement from a Garage Band sound effect? Check out the video below and decide for yourself...Is this real or is it fake? http://www.movieweb.com/news/the-dark-knight-rises-trailer-real-or-fake

Scary Movie 5 Arrives April 2012!
Jun 17, 2011 by Brian Gallagher
The Weinstein Company sets an April 20, 2012 release date for Scary Movie 5
The Weinstein Company announced release dates for seven of its upcoming projects, including one we haven't heard about in the past few years: Scary Movie 5. The studio has set an April 20, 2012 release date for the project, although no cast members have been announced. It was believed that David Zucker would direct the project years ago, although it isn't known if he is still on board. No plot details were revealed either, and it seems that The Weinstein Company is not going ahead with the franchise reboot plan which we reported on a few years back.

An appropriate October 26, 2012 release date was issued to Halloween 3D, which will be directed by Patrick Lussier and written by Todd Farmer. No other movies are scheduled for release on that date yet.

The studio also handed out release dates to a few potential Oscar-worthy titles, with Coriolanus opening on December 2, and The Iron Lady opening on December 16.

The Weinstein Company also filled up its November schedule, with My Week with Marilyn opening on November 4, The Bully Project premiering on November 11, and The Artist set for a November 23 release.

Scary Movie 5 comes to theaters April 20th, 2012.

"Ferris Bueller's Day Off" Sequel in the Works?

Posted: June 14th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Back in 2007, screenwriter Rick Rapier wrote a spec script for a sequel to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," called "Ferris Bueller 2: Another Day Off." And he's been shopping it around ever since.

Now, Rapier has updated his Twitter account with news that he's been able to get the script into the hands of some important people. "There is definite interest in my 'Ferris' sequel," he wrote. "Big name production companies that have first-look production deals with Paramount are reading the script. Your readers would know either their names or have seen movies they've produced, some of them classics. We have high hopes that one or more will take an interest, and that Paramount brass will go for it on their advice."

The script revolves around modern-day Bueller, who becomes a successful motivational speaker with the help of Cameron Frye. For more, you can read the first twelve pages of the script here.

While Rapier seems confidant that Paramount will take his script and develop a "Ferris Bueller" sequel, chances are it's never going to happen, especially since director John Hughes passed away two years ago.

Question: Would you like to see a sequel to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"?

The Weinstein Company To Distribute Madonna's W.E.

published: 2011-06-13 14:48:13 Author: Eric Eisenberg
She may be one of the biggest recording artists of all time, but Madonna has quite the hit-or-miss record when it comes to the movie industry. As an actress she has some pretty interesting titles on her record, including A League of Their Own and Dick Tracy, but she also has disasters like The Next Best Thing and Swept Away listed on her filmography. Lord only knows what that means for her newest writing/directing gig, W.E., but now the Weinstein Company is going to help us find out.

According to a press release, the Harvey and Bob-owned production company has attained the U.S. distribution rights for W.E., which stars Abbie Cornish, Oscar Isaac, James D’Arcy and Andrea Riseborough. A two tiered story described as a romantic drama, the film establishes parallel storylines between King Edward VIII's relationship with American divorcee Wallis Simpson and a modern love story between a married woman and a security guard. Though there is no official release date set just yet, the movie will be coming out this year. Said Madonna about the deal,

"W.E. is about the nature of true love, and the sacrifices and compromises that are often made. I’ve wanted to tell this story for a very long time, and bringing it to life has been a great adventure for me. I’m looking forward to working with Harvey and The Weinstein Company on this film."
It's funny that the Weinsteins would be the ones to handle this their biggest film from last year, The King's Speech, also dealt with King Edward and Miss Simpson. Reading Madonna's quote it seems like they are going a completely different direction with that relationship, however, as The King's Speech kind of made Edward look like a selfish jerk who put his own wants in front of the countries. I also have to wonder if Madonna will explore the whole "pro-Nazi" thing. Something tells me she won't. http://www.cinemablend.com/new/The-Weinstein-Company-To-Distribute-Madonna-s-W-E-25191.html

Casting Call: Jason Clarke Signs on for Baz Luhrmann’s THE GREAT GATSBY, Ellie Kemper Joins 21 JUMP STREET, and Josh Stewart Added to THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

by Adam Chitwood   Posted: June 13th, 2011

We’ve got a couple of casting stories for you this evening. First up, Baz Lurhmann is close to filling out the cast for his adaptation of The Great Gatsby, as THR reports that Jason Clarke (The Chicago Code) has signed on to play George Wilson, husband of Myrtle. Lurhmann’s A-list cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio as Gatsby, Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway, Carey Mulligan as Daisy and Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan. Isla Fischer is poised to play Myrtle. The film is gearing up to start filming this fall in Australia.
Additionally, Bridesmaids star Ellie Kemper has landed a supporting role in the 21 Jump Street remake. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum star in the film as young cops undercover at a high school. Variety reports that Kemper will play “an annoyingly sincere chemistry teacher,” who has a crush on Tatum’s character. The cast also includes Brie Larson, Ice Cube and Rob Riggle. Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) are directing. 21 Jump Street hits theaters on March 16th 2012. Hit the jump for the casting of Josh Stewart in The Dark Knight Rises, as well as a synopsis of The Great Gatsby. http://collider.com/jason-clarke-great-gatsby-ellie-kemper-21-jump-street-josh-stewart-dark-knight-rises/96233/

Tom Cruise in Talks for Christopher McQuarrie’s ONE SHOT

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: June 13th, 2011

Tom Cruise may be adding yet another “starring role in an action-centered film” to his list, this time with Christopher McQuarrie’s adaptation of Lee Child’s One Shot. The book is part of a series which centers on Jack Reacher, a former military police officer-turned drifter. Deadline reports that Cruise is now in talks to star in the thriller, which Paramount hopes to turn into a series. McQuarrie, best known as the screenwriter of The Usual Suspects and Bryan Singer’s upcoming Jack the Giant Killer, will be directing from a script he wrote.
Cruise is also attached to star in Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski’s sci-fi flick Oblivion. The current plan, if the deal pans out, is for Cruise to film One Shot this fall before moving on to Oblivion which starts production in January. I’m liking Cruise’s choices as of late. I thought Knight and Day was a smart move back into more action-oriented fare, and he’s assembled a top-notch team for Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. He’s currently filming Adam Shankman’s musical adaptation Rock of Ages. Hit the jump to read a synopsis of One Shot. http://collider.com/tom-cruise-one-shot/96228/

Bill Pullman, Debra Winger and THE KILLING’s Joel Kinnaman Join Romantic Comedy LOLA VERSUS

Production has begun on Fox Searchlight’s low-budget romantic comedy Lola Versus, and a few new castmembers have been announced. Bill Pullman, Debra Winger and Joel Kinnaman have joined a cast headed up by Greta Gerwig. Hamish Linklater (The New Adventures of Old Christine) has also come aboard the film that tells the story of a 29-year-old woman (Gerwig) who gets dumped be her fiancée (Kinnaman) three weeks before the wedding. She proceeds to embark on a series of desperate encounters as she finds herself questioning her place in the world on the cusp of turning 30.
Kinnamann is best known as one of the stars of AMC’s successful drama series The Killing, which was just recently picked up for a second season. He steps into Lola Versus replacing Orlando Bloom in the role of Gerwig’s fiancée. Daryl Wein (Breaking Upwards) is directing from a script he co-wrote with Zoe Jones. Harvey Weinstein Really Wants To Make A Rounders 2

published: 2011-06-06 15:30:32 Author: Eric Eisenberg
When Rounders was first released in 1998, it didn't make much of a splash. Grossing $22 million on a $12 million budget, the movie turned a profit, but wasn't a hit by any means. In the years since, however, in large part due to the World Series of Poker getting high ratings on ESPN, the film has reached cult status and has earned millions on home video. We've been hearing about a possible sequel for years without any real action, but Harvey Weinstein is keeping the hope alive.

THR was present at the Produced By Conference this past Saturday where the famed producer teleconferenced in and expressed his interest in revisiting the John Dahl film, which starred Matt Damon and Edward Norton. Weinstein was there to talk about the rise of video on demand and internet markets for film when the subject of the film came up. According to his figures, Rounders has made a total of $70 million in profits. Said Weinstein of the film, "The video has gotten such awareness. I never make sequels but it’s something I’d like to revisit." Back in December it was reported that in addition to a Rounders 2, Miramax and the Weinsteins (Harvey and his brother Bob) were developing follow-ups to Bad Santa, Shakespeare in Love, Swingers, Clerks, Bridget Jones' Diary and more.

In a world filled with absolutely useless sequels, I wouldn't necessarily be against a Rounders 2. The end of the film, which features Damon going to Las Vegas in order to become a professional poker player, leaves the door wide open for possibilities and while it obviously have to be set more than a decade after the events of the first movie (Damon still looks young, but not that young) it is doable. The only thing that would be a stretch is if Worm, played by Norton, is worked into the plot: that guy is such a stupid, arrogant asshole I can't imagine that he would still be alive this many years later.

Naomie Harris Is The Next Bond Girl, Offered Bond 23

published: 2011-06-06 13:14:28 Author: Josh Tyler
Hey remember when Naomie Harris was going to be a big deal? Yeah me neither but I think it was back in 2002, or something. She was in 28 Days Later, and pretty good in that. She’s worked steadily since then, but unless you count her cameo in one of those Pirates movies she hasn’t been in much you’ve ever heard of. Now though, she might show up in a Bond movie.

A rumor first circulated by British tabloid News of the World and later confirmed by Shadow and Act says Harris has been offered a role in James Bond 23. I guess that makes her the next Bond girl, though she’s being described as “Daniel Craig’s sexy sidekick”. Sidekick with benefits? This is James Bond, after all.

The thing is, there hasn’t really been much actual progress on getting Bond 23 made. The movie was stalled for awhile after MGM’s financial troubles, though more recently it’s seemed to have gotten back on track. It’s in pre-production and it even has a November 9, 2012 release date. If they’re actually making offers to Bond girls, take that as another positive sign that this thing is really happening at last.

As for Naomie Harris… she doesn’t exactly seem like the traditional sexpot Bond girl type. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out, but don’t be surprised if they also cast a Halle Berry or Denise Richards typed actress to fill the hot chick role, even if Harris is in the film. It’s not that she isn’t pretty, I just don’t see potential Bond bedmate as her type.

Terminator 5 Wants Paul Walker as Kyle Reese

Paul Walker may play Kyle Reese in Terminator 5
Jun 6, 2011 by Brian Gallagher

Last month we reported that Arnold Schwarzenegger is putting his acting career on hold to resolve matters in his personal life. One of the projects believed to be delayed by the actor's hiatus is Terminator 5, although that may not be the case.

It seems Terminator 5 will be anchored by a younger male lead, with Paul Walker rumored as a potential candidate to play Kyle Reese. Terminator 5 director Justin Lin recently worked with Paul Walker on the blockbuster sequel Fast Five.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is still said to have a pivotal role in Terminator 5. It seems that producers are still planning to move forward on the project despite the actor's hiatus. There is talk the producers may lessen Arnold Schwarzenegger's screen time in Terminator 5, which may entice him to come back onto the project, since it will be less of a time commitment.

There was also a rumor in May that Terminator 5 will reunite the original cast of The Terminator. Though now it seems that original characters from The Terminator may return, but not necessarily the original actors who played them. The potential plan for Terminator 5 is likened to J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, with a new crop of actors portraying these original characters.

It isn't known when production will start on Terminator 5 at this time.

Terminator 5 is in development and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film is directed by Justin Lin.

This image is of a mysterious masked man climbing through the window of a skyscraper. Some speculate that it is Tom Hardy as Bane. Or it could be his stuntman. Ellis’ (Snakes on a PlaneShark Night 3D stars Sara Paxton, Chris Zylka, and Joel David Moore, and features a group of college friends whose weekend getaway quickly turns sour after an uninvited school of sharks show up. Playwright David Auburn to Write Adaptation of THE CASEBOOK OF VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: May 23rd, 2011

Following in the footsteps of vampires and zombies, it looks like Frankenstein may be Hollywood’s next supernatural obsession. Pulitzer-prize winning playwright David Auburn (Proof) has been tapped to adapt Peter Ackroyd’s novel The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein. The story focuses on a young Frankenstein who spends his days experimenting with corpses. Mary Shelly, who wrote the original novel and created the character, appears as a character in Ackroyd’s book alongside her mother. Deadline reports that RT Features and Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures will produce.
This is one of a number of Frankenstein-centered projects currently in development. Summit acquired the rights to Kenneth Oppel’s upcoming novel This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein, Sony is working on a contemporary version of the story, and Guillermo del Toro has been working with Universal on an adaptation for quite some time. Hit the jump to read a synopsis of Ackroyd’s novel.

New Images and Cringe-Worthy Clip from THIS MUST BE THE PLACE Starring Sean Penn

Watching the first clip from the upcoming drama This Must Be the Place, I can’t help but think that star Sean Penn was re-watching I Am Sam and though to himself, “Yeah, I can top that.”  So instead of going full-retard, Penn is going full old-rock-star parody.  We’ve already seen his Robert Smith-inspired attire, but wait until you hear how Penn decides to deliver dialogue.  It sounds like a cross between a nerdy teenager and present-day Ozzy Osbourne.  It’s awful and I can’t tell if co-star Frances McDormand is embarrassed or just trying really hard not to laugh.
Oh, for those that don’t know about the plot, it’s about an aged rock star who decides to follow in his late father’s footsteps and become a Nazi hunter.  I’m not making that up.  Hit the jump to check out new images from the film along with the glorious clip.  This Must Be the Place also stars newcomer Eve Newsome as a gothic-punk music fan who is close friends with Penn’s character, Cheyenne.

First Image of Tom Hardy as Bane in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES; Viral Campaign Launches

On the heels of yesterday’s announcement that filming had commenced on The Dark Knight Rises, we now have learned that the film’s viral campaign has begun.  You may recall that the alternate-reality game (ARG) for The Dark Knight was fairly epic and resulted in fun treasure hunts, deciphering, and ultimately tickets to see the film early.  TDKR is over a year away, but viral marketing waits for no one!  Today, the official website (thedarkknightrises.com) launched and had two interesting aspects.  First up, the audio on the website is some weird chanting (The League of Shadows? A poor recording of the 1994 album “Chant”?).  Secondly, every time someone tweets the hashtag #thefirerises, a new image appears on this site. The tiny image is your Twitter profile pic, but they’re being arranged and contrasted in such a way as to show a larger image.  Some smart folks went digging through the source code and uncovered the image being built was the first image of Tom Hardy as Bane.  I suppose a more appropriate hashtag is now “#viralthwarted”.
Hit the jump to check out the image. The Dark Knight Rises also stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, and Michael Caine.  It opens July 20, 2012. [We have now updated the image with a high-resolution version]

First Look: Tom Hardy as Bane in "The Dark Knight Rises"

Posted: May 20th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Warner Bros has launched the official viral marketing campaign for "The Dark Knight Rises." By going to the site (TheDarkKnightRises.com), you'll see a blank page with audio of people chanting something.

Using an audio program, a person figured out that the chanting spells out "#TheFireRises," which is obviously a Twitter account. Going to the Twitter page (Twitter.com/#TheFireRises) contains a link to a page on the original site ....

After digging through the code, a hi-res image of Tom Hardy as Bane is revealed. Check out the photo below.

Stephen King Talks About "Carrie" Remake

Posted: May 20th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

It was just reported that "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has been hired to write the script for the "Carrie" remake, based on a Stephen King novel.

Entertainment Weekly now caught up with King to get his thoughts on the new film. "I've heard rumblings about a 'Carrie' remake, as I have about 'The Stand' and 'It.' Who knows if it will happen," said the author. "The real question is why, when the original was so good? I mean, not 'Casablanca,' or anything, but a really good horror/suspense film, much better than the book. Piper Laurie really got her teeth into the bad-mom thing. Although Lindsay Lohan as Carrie White... hmmm. It would certainly be fun to cast. I guess I could get behind it if they turned the project over to one of the Davids: Lynch or Cronenberg."

King feels that the movie was better than the book. That's not good since Aguirre-Scasa is planning to make the remake more faithful to the book.

Forest Whitaker Working on "Waiting to Exhale" Sequel

Posted: May 20th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Back in 1995, Forest Whitaker directed "Waiting to Exhale," based on a novel by Terry McMillan. The film went on to gross $81 million. And now comes word that a sequel is in the works.

"It's preliminary, but it's gonna happen," Angela Bassett confirmed on CBS show "The Talk." "[McMillan] wrote 'Getting to Happy' and she has written the screenplay. Loretta [Devine], Lela [Rochon], Whitney [Houston], Forest [will be back]. Forest is working on the script now."

While most of the actors are available to reprise their roles, Whitney Houston just entered rehab for drug and alcohol treatment. And Gregory Hines passed away back in 2003.
