Alex O'Loughlin Covers 'Men's Fitness' August 2011
Hawaii Five-0 star Alex O’Loughlin shows off his toned arms on the cover of Men’s Fitness magazine’s August 2011 issue.
Here’s what the the 34-year-old Australian actor had to share:
On loving workouts outside of the gym: “I much prefer being in the canyons or the hills or the ocean - being outside and using the resistance of the earth and gravity and my own body weight. I’d rather hang from trees and do pull-ups than be in a gym, surrounded by people in Spandex.”
On keeping his mind clear with exercise: “[Attention deficit disorder] went diagnosed and I managed to keep it hidden, but it caused me a lot of frustration. When I stopped being cerebral and became physical, my mind cleared. That’s probably why I like to be so active. It’s a huge part of the balance of who I am.”

Chris Klein Talks AMERICAN REUNION

by Adam Chitwood   Posted: July 1st, 2011

Writer-directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) have managed to bring every major cast member back for the fourth entry in the American Pie franchise, American Reunion. The film is currently shooting, and actor Chris Klein recently spoke a bit about what to expect from the film and where his character Oz is now:

[Oz] has moved to a beach house in Malibu. He’s found his way to Hollywood, where he works as a sportscaster on an NFL show. And he has a young girlfriend, Mia, played by Katrina Bowden (30 Rock), who is really, really funny. He gets his invite to the reunion and decides to go with his girlfriend.”
Hit the jump to see what else he had to say about the sequel. In addition to Klein, the film reunites Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge and Shannon Elizabeth. http://collider.com/chris-klein-american-reunion/100022/

Adrianne Palicki to Play Lady Jaye in G.I. JOE: COBRA STRIKES

by Matt Goldberg   Posted: July 1st, 2011

Adrianne Palicki will play the female lead in Jon Chu’s G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes.  According to Deadline, Palicki will play Lady Jaye (pictured above in what I seriously doubt is an approved military uniform).  The cast for the film continues to fill out as Paramount positions the sequel to be one of their summer 2012 tentpoles.  Palicki joins returning cast members Channing Tatum (who plays Duke), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), and Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow) along with new recruits Dwayne Johnson (Roadblock), RZA (Blind Master), D.J. Cotrona (Flint), and Elodie Yung (Jinx).  One of the major roles yet to be cast is original G.I. Joe, Joe Colton.  Deadline reports that Bruce Willis is the top choice for the role and he would certainly add some star power to the flick.
Hit the jump for a brief bio on Lady Jaye.  G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes opens August 10, 2012. http://collider.com/gi-joe2-adrianne-palicki-lady-jaye/99998/

Ben Foster Joins PROMETHEUS? Official Synopsis Revealed

by Matt Goldberg   Posted: July 1st, 2011

Ridley Scott’s Alien-prequel-but-not-an-Alien-prequel Prometheus already has a stellar cast.  The sci-fi flick features Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, and Guy Pearce, and now JoBlo is reporting that Ben Foster has signed on.  Almost everything about the film is being kept under wraps so we don’t know what role he’ll play, but Foster is a fantastic addition to any cast.
We’re still awaiting official confirmation from Fox on Foster’s casting, but the studio has dismissed yesterday’s rumored synopsis. Instead, they’ve provided an official synopsis which deserves some kind of award for vagueness.  Here’s what the synopsis tells you definitively: the movie takes place in outer space (and we already knew that).  Hit the jump to read the synopsis and learn nothing.  Prometheus opens in 3D on June 8, 2012. http://collider.com/prometheus-ben-foster-synopsis/99966/

"Alien" Prequel Plot Synopsis Revealed?

Posted: July 1st, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequel, called "Prometheus," is a top secret project for the director and 20th Century Fox. While bits of information have leaked out through interviews, we have yet to piece together the plot of the film.

Now, AlienPrequelNews has got their hands on a possible and every detailed plot synopsis for "Prometheus." And while we don't know if this plot is accurate, it seems to fit perfectly with everything that we've previously heard. Read at your own risk.

SPOILERS AHEAD:

Earth. Year 2058.

Archaeological digs in Africa reveal alien artifacts that humans were genetically engineered by a advanced alien race (space jockeys). These "Alien Gods" also terraformed Earth in order to make it habitable for their human creations. Amongst finds are coordinates to the Alien God’s home-world, to Paradise. Months later the Weyland Corp launch the spaceship PROMETHEUS and his crew, into deep space to make first contact. Thanks to faster than light travel a few years later the PROMETHEUS enters the Zeta Riticuli star system. Humans are greeted by their makers, then transported further into space to a scary yet fascinating world. The Alien Gods are proud of their "children," their first creation to reach such levels of intelligence.

As a reward they share bits of their astonishing bio-based technologies with the humans. But for one crew member of the Prometheus it's not enough. In a treacherous act he steals the "bio-source code" to Terraforming, a technology at the origin of all Gods' power, that could make humans equal to the gods. The Alien Gods may be scientists but are also ruthless conquerors, destroyers of worlds who will not accept humans as equals. They unleash on the escaping human crew their favorite bio-weapon, a creature used to "clean up" worlds before colonization. But something goes wrong in the process and humans manage to turn the bio-weapon against their makers. Giving birth to a smarter, nastier, bigger breed of gut eating creatures. Creatures that will be the demise of Paradise. What's left of the Prometheus crew manages to escape the doomed planet.

On their trail a survivor Alien God in very familiar ship with one ultimate mission. Bring the wrath of the Gods to Earth.

First Look: Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway in "The Dark Knight Rises" Set Video

Posted: July 1st, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Christopher Nolan is currently shooting "The Dark Knight Rises," the third film in the franchise. And while he tries really hard to keep as much of the story secret as possible, there are always people who are able to take a photo or a video of the filming.

Today we have a video of a rainy scene in which Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) knocks on the door of a house, but get no answer. At that point, Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway) walks up and they leave together. Check out the video below.

The hand-holding may indicate that that there is a romantic part to their relationship. And it's likely that they'll also team up as Batman and Catwoman, clearing up why Michael Caine previously said that Batman and another character will leave the mansion to fight crime.

International Trailer for RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

by Jason Barr    Posted: June 17th, 2011

20th Century Fox has released a new international television trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Although only one minute long, I definitely feel like this is the best cut of the film I’ve seen so far if for only two reasons: 1) It doesn’t include the line of dialogue “That chimp’s company property!” 2) It depicts an ape taking out a dickish guy on a cell phone who definitely had it coming. Directed by Rupert Wyatt, Rise of the Planet of the Apes stars James Franco, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, and Tom Felton.
Check out the new trailer after the jump. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is slated to hit theaters on August 5th. Click here to check out all of our previous Apes coverage.  http://collider.com/rise-of-the-planet-of-the-apes-international-trailer/97107/

New Red Band Trailer for 30 MINUTES OR LESS

by Jason Barr    Posted: June 17th, 2011

A new red band trailer for director Ruben Fleischer’s (Zombieland) comedy 30 Minutes or Less is now available online and it rings of nostalgia for the time “you and I worshiped the devil for like two weeks.” Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Danny McBride, Aziz Ansari, Nick Swardson, and Michael Pena, the film centers on a pizza delivery guy (Eisenberg) who is kidnapped by two men (McBride and Swardson) and forced to rob a bank at the risk of being blown up. Thus far, everything I’ve seen from the film has made me laugh and I can’t wait to check it out in theaters on August 12th. Watch the new restricted trailer after the jump.  http://collider.com/30-minutes-or-less-red-band-trailer-2/97100/

First Image of Tom Cruise in ROCK OF AGES

by Jason Barr   Posted: June 17th, 2011

The first image of Tom Cruise in director Adam Shankman’s (Hairspray) Rock of Ages adaptation has landed online. Cruise is playing the role of rocker Stacee Jaxx in the pic and, from the looks of this first image, will have no reservations about performing without a shirt. Paul Giamatti, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Malin Akerman, Bryan Cranston, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J. Blige, and Julianne Hough star alongside Cruise in Rock of Ages which hits theaters on June 1st, 2012. Hit the jump to check out the image. Finally, in case you weren’t already aware, Rock of Ages is based on the 2006 musical of the same name and tells the story of a small town girl (Hough) who falls in love with Cruise’s larger-than-life-rocker, Stacee Jaxx, against the backdrop of classic 80s selections from groups such as Journey, Foreigner, Styx, and REO Speedwagon. http://collider.com/rock-of-ages-movie-image-tom-cruise/97093/

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer! Real or Fake?

Jun 17, 2011 by B. Alan Orange
"The storm is coming!" Could they be talking about a two year storm of fan made videos? A teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises has made its way online, but all signs point to this being a really good fake. What called our attention to its authenticity, though, is the fact that it was shot pirate-style inside a movie theater, and there is a cheering audience. Are we hearing real people show their enthusiasm for this highly anticipated DC Comics adventure, or is it canned excitement from a Garage Band sound effect? Check out the video below and decide for yourself...Is this real or is it fake? http://www.movieweb.com/news/the-dark-knight-rises-trailer-real-or-fake

Scary Movie 5 Arrives April 2012!
Jun 17, 2011 by Brian Gallagher
The Weinstein Company sets an April 20, 2012 release date for Scary Movie 5
The Weinstein Company announced release dates for seven of its upcoming projects, including one we haven't heard about in the past few years: Scary Movie 5. The studio has set an April 20, 2012 release date for the project, although no cast members have been announced. It was believed that David Zucker would direct the project years ago, although it isn't known if he is still on board. No plot details were revealed either, and it seems that The Weinstein Company is not going ahead with the franchise reboot plan which we reported on a few years back.

An appropriate October 26, 2012 release date was issued to Halloween 3D, which will be directed by Patrick Lussier and written by Todd Farmer. No other movies are scheduled for release on that date yet.

The studio also handed out release dates to a few potential Oscar-worthy titles, with Coriolanus opening on December 2, and The Iron Lady opening on December 16.

The Weinstein Company also filled up its November schedule, with My Week with Marilyn opening on November 4, The Bully Project premiering on November 11, and The Artist set for a November 23 release.

Scary Movie 5 comes to theaters April 20th, 2012.

These shots reportedly come from a scene that finds Bruce and his lifelong friend and servant Alfred getting in a heated argument before Wayne boards a small private plane for destinations unknown. Eva Mendes Joins Derek Cianfrance’s THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES; Greta Gerwig in Talks to Co-Star

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: June 14th, 2011

Eva Mendes has joined Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper in The Place Beyond the Pines with Greta Gerwig in Talks to co-star.  Derek Cianfrance’s follow-up to Blue Valentine stars Gosling as a biker-turned-bank-robber and Cooper as a cop-turned-politician in the multi-generational crime drama.  Deadline reports that Mendes will play the robber’s love interest and mother of his child while Gerwig would play the politician’s wife.  Filming begins next month.
Mendes recently co-starred in The Other Guys and Last Night.  She was in the running for the remake of Total Recall, but I think missing out on that film to do this one is a positive outcome.  As for Gerwig, she’s set to star opposite Joel Kinnaman in the indie romantic comedy Lola Versus. http://collider.com/place-beyond-the-pines-eva-mendes-greta-gerwig/96349/

Hit the jump to check out the set photos.  The film reunites Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Eugene Levy, and almost everyone else from the original movie.  American Reunion opens April 6, 2012. http://collider.com/american-reunion-set-photo/96309/

Darren Aronofsky Wants Christian Bale as His NOAH

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: June 14th, 2011

Darren Aronofsky wants Christian Bale to build him an ark that is 300 cubits by 50 cubits by 30 cubits.  Vulture reports that Aronofsky is angling to get the Oscar-winning actor to star in the biblical epic Noah.  As we previously reported, studios are circling the project to co-finance, but the film’s budget is projected at $130 million.  Getting a star of Bale’s caliber could help secure financing.  New Regency is already on board, but other contenders Summit, 20th Century Fox, and Paramount could make a better prediction of the film’s overseas potential if Bale comes on board (I swear, I’m not making these boat metaphors just for the puns).
Bale is currently filming on Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.  He’s also set to star in the drama The Last Photograph, which is about a war correspondent in Afghanistan who is the sole survivor of an attack on Americans.  That project is tipped to shoot after Bale wraps on Batman, but we’ll see how fast Noah comes together if Bale signs on for the super fun task of gathering two of every animal.  Hit the jump for more details on Noah. http://collider.com/chrisitan-bale-noah-darren-aronofsky/96305/

With the 2011 Licensing International Expo currently underway in Las Vegas, many promo posters have started hitting the net.  Yesterday we posted the promo poster for The Avengers as well as the promo posters for The Amazing Spider-Man, Hotel Transylvania, and more.  Continuing the barrage of advertising, we now have promo posters for The Hobbit, The Hunger Games, Battleship, The Three Stooges, The Lorax, 47 Ronin, The Croods, The Bourne Legacy, Rise of the Guardians, Stretch Armstrong, RIPD, Fast & Furious 6, and How to Train Your Dragon 2.  It’s worth noting that the promo poster for Fast & Furious 6 says the film is due out in 2013, which isn’t too surprising.  More intriguing is that the poster for How to Train Your Dragon 2 is simply titled “Dragons“.

The new movie will center around the gang's ten year high school reunion. Oz (Chris Klein) is a big shot with a Malibu mansion and a girlfriend who seems to be a gold-digger. Principal photography on Zhang Yimou’s first multi-lingual film, 13 Flowers of Nanjing, began in January — tonight we have our first look at star Christian Bale in costume as “John.”  (Evocative, no?)  The film, based on the Yan Geling novel The 13 Women of Nanjing, centers on a group of refugees who find sanctuary in a church compound during the Sino-Japanese War: “The group, thrown together by the terrible chaos of war, risks their lives for the Church’s school children as they struggle to survive the violence and persecution brought on by the violent invasion of the city.”
Hit the jump to see the images and read more about 13 Flowers.

First, the official synopsis and production details:
13 Flowers of Nanjing is set in 1937 in Nanjing, China during Sino-Japanese War, where a few brave refugees find sanctuary in a Church compound.  The group, thrown together by the terrible chaos of war, risks their lives for the Church’s school children as they struggle to survive the violence and persecution brought on by the violent invasion of the city.  Through tremendous adversity, heroism presents itself among the least likely individuals as they bravely navigate their treacherous surroundings to try and save themselves and each other.  13 Flowers of Nanjing is a story of heroism and love: for those around you, for one’s family, and the love between an unlikely couple which fate brings together.  Christian Bale will play John, an American, trapped thousands of miles from home and seemingly, with nowhere to turn.
Produced by Zhang Weiping and Bill Kong, the film will incorporate both Chinese and English dialog into its narrative.  Zhang Yimou will be reuniting with Beijing New Pictures and Edko Films Limited for the project.  David Linde will executive produce. The team has also tapped Xiaoding Zhao as director of photography (House of Flying Daggers, Curse of the Golden Flower); renown special effects supervisor Joss Williams (Aliens, The Bourne Ultimatum, Munich); production designer Yohei Taneda (Kill Bill Vol. 1); composer Qigang Chen (Under The Hawthorn Tree); production and costume designer William Chang (In The Mood of Love, 2047) ; and costume designer Graciela Mazon (The Legend of Zorro, From Dusk Till Dawn).

Sylvester Stallone Says He Will NOT Direct "The Expendables 2"

Posted: April 18th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Back in March, LA Times learned that Sylvester Stallone may not return to direct "The Expendables" sequel, despite making plans to reprise his role in the film. Then earlier this month, Lionsgate denied the report and confirmed that Stallone will be back behind the camera.

And now, Deadline has heard directly from Stallone that he will NOT be directing the sequel. Instead, he is heavily involved in putting together a list of directors to helm the second installment.

At this point, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren and Terry Crews are all set to return, but don't have deals in place. Stallone, meanwhile, is in talks with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis to expand their roles.

Jason Statham to Star in "Parker" Thriller

Posted: April 18th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Jason Statham is in negotiations to star in "Parker" thriller, to be directed by Taylor Hackford (Ray, The Devil's Advocate) from a script by John McLaughlin (Black Swan).

The film is based on the book series by Donald Westlake and revolves around a thief who, though at times is forced to be a killer, still lives by a code of honor that includes never stealing money from people who need it. His word is his bond, and if he is crossed he will strike back relentlessly.

"I don't want to get stuck in a genre," said Hackford about why he took the project. "What I like the most about this piece of material is that you can take a genre piece like this and turn it into a great movie."

"Parker" will be shopped at the Cannes Film Festival next month.

It was recently reported that Sylvester Stallone has brought on director Walter Hill (48 Hrs, The Warriors) to direct his upcoming "Headshot" movie.

In it, Stallone's character teams with a young NYPD detective in a high-stakes investigation that leads from the back alleys of New Orleans all the way to Washington, DC. The unlikely duo, brought together by two vicious murders, take on all who stand in their way, and are willing to sacrifice everything to exact revenge.

AITH has now learned that Thomas Jane (The Mist, Punisher) has signed to play the NYPD detective. "He's a hitman, I'm a cop, and we're just opposite in every f*cking way, and we need each other to get this job done," said the actor. "Cloverfield" Helmer to Direct "The Passage" Vampire Film

Posted: April 18th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

We recently reported that Matt Reeves (Let Me In, Cloverfield) had signed on to direct a remake of John Carpenter's "They Live," based on Ray Nelson's short story "8 O'Clock in the Morning."

And now comes word that he will also direct "The Passage," based on the best-selling Justin Cronin novel and about an experiment that goes awry and creates a swarm of bloodthirsty vampires that brings the world to the brink of extinction.

In "The Passage," a group of terminally ill cancer patients get healthy after being subjected to the bites of bats in South America. Naturally, the government see this as a cure for the disease and starts experimenting. They end up with a legion of nearly indestructible, telepathic vampire masters that begin infecting the populace.

The tone is similar to "28 Days Later" and is very different from "Let Me In," Reeves' last film which was also about vampires.

Is James Franco's "The Stare" the Next "Black Swan"?

Posted: April 18th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

James Franco and Winona Ryder have signed on for "The Stare," a drama to be directed by Jay Anania that sounds very similar to Darren Aronofsky's "Black Swan," which Ryder also starred in. The film will begin shooting on May 6th in New York.

"The Stare" revolves around a playwright (Ryder) who finds her mind beginning to warp as she struggles to launch her next production. She's plagued by dreams and visions of being watched, but can't decide if she's at the center of a manipulative plot or simply losing her grip on reality. Franco plays one of the performers in the playwright's production.

Franco has previously worked with Anania last year in "Shadows and Lies," which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.

During a recent press conference for "Gotti: Three Generations," John Travolta, Lindsay Lohan and director Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook, John Q) showed up along with the Gotti family to talk about their upcoming film.

Now comes word that Cassavetes has dropped out due to a scheduling conflict. Producers are now seeking a new director and remain on track to go into production in New York in the fall.

John Gotti Jr. was the flamboyant head of the Gambino crime family who spent the last decade of his life in prison. In his last visit to his father, the son said he was ending his life of crime and getting out of the family business.

Tom Hanks Confirmed to Star in CLOUD ATLAS; Wachowski Siblings and Tom Tykwer to Co-Write and Direct

by Matt Goldberg   Posted: April 12th, 2011

As early as last summer, we heard that Tom Hanks would star in an adaptation of David Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas.  Then there was confusion over who would be writing and directing: The Wachowski Siblings and/or Tom Tykwer.  In January, Natalie Portman—who was also rumored to co-star—said that the Wachowskis and Tykwer were directing together.  Today, we have confirmation on both facts with Deadline reporting that Hanks will star and that the Wachowskis and Tykwer will write and direct the movie.
Portman also said she had a small role in the film, but there’s currently no confirmation that she’s on board at this point.  We’re also awaiting confirmation on whether or not James McAvoy and Halle Berry will be in the film, which is scheduled to begin shooting in September.  Hit the jump for more on the project including a synopsis of the novel.

Joaquin Phoenix in Talks to Star in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Untitled Religious Drama

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: April 12th, 2011

After discovering that no one really cared about his retirement from acting or about the movie about his fake meltdown, Joaquin Phoenix may be getting back into the moving pictures (even though he never really left it).  Variety reports that Joaquin Phoenix is in talks to join Philip Seymour Hoffman in Paul Thomas Anderson’s untitled religious drama.  The story is based on the founding of Scientology and has Hoffman playing “Lancaster Dodd, a charismatic intellectual known as The Master” who creates a new religion, but eventually comes into conflict with his chief disciple.  Phoenix would play the disciple, Freddie Sutton, “an alcholic drifter who becomes his right-hand man only to begin questioning his manipulative mentor.”
Last fall, the film—unofficially referred to as “The Master“—looked dead, but then this past February, Megan Ellison came to rescue not only of this film, but also Anderson’s planned adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s Inherent Vice.  Hit the jump for my thoughts on Phoenix joining The Master.

Daniel Sunjata, Diego Klattenhoff, and Burn Gorman Join THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: April 12th, 2011

With production looming closer, director Christopher Nolan has added a trio of actors to The Dark Knight Rises. Daniel Sunjata (TV’s Rescue Me), Diego Klattenhoff (Lucky Number Slevin), and Burn Gorman (Layer Cake) are all looking to join a cast that now includes Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Juno Temple and recent addition Josh Pence, who will take on the role of young Ra’s al Ghul.
Variety reports that Sunjata is in talks to play “a courageous special forces operative” and Klattenhoff is being offered the part of “a rookie cop who is looking to make a difference.” No word on who Gorman will play other than the fact that he’s being eyed for a supporting role in the film. Marion Cotillard was previously “in discussions” for a role in the film, but the report claims she’s now officially part of the cast. Hit the jump for more.

Sean Penn May Join Christian Bale in THE LAST PHOTOGRAPH

by Adam Chitwood  Posted: April 12th, 2011

Sean Penn is now looking at joining Christian Bale in the drama The Last Photograph. The film, said to be in the vein of The Searchers and Taken, is based off an original idea by Zack Snyder about a war correspondent in Afghanistan who is the sole survivor of an attack on Americans. Deadline reports that Bale is set to play the journalist, while Penn is circling the role of an ex-special ops soldier who enlists Bale’s help to find a missing family member who has been kidnapped. In exchange, Bale’s character gets the story.
Snyder’s 300 co-writer Kurt Johnstad penned the script, and Niels Arden Oplev (the Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) is set to direct. The film was set up at Warner Bros. but apparently negotiations are ongoing to move the film to Dark Castle, where Joel Silver and Andrew Rona would come aboard as producers. The report states that Penn is very interested in joining the project, having just turned down roles in the Superman flick Man of Steel (the villain, perhaps?) and Ruben Fleischer’s Gangster Squad. Plans are to shoot The Last Photograph in 2012 after Bale wraps The Dark Knight Rises.
