Chris Klein Talks AMERICAN REUNION

by Adam Chitwood   Posted: July 1st, 2011

Writer-directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) have managed to bring every major cast member back for the fourth entry in the American Pie franchise, American Reunion. The film is currently shooting, and actor Chris Klein recently spoke a bit about what to expect from the film and where his character Oz is now:

[Oz] has moved to a beach house in Malibu. He’s found his way to Hollywood, where he works as a sportscaster on an NFL show. And he has a young girlfriend, Mia, played by Katrina Bowden (30 Rock), who is really, really funny. He gets his invite to the reunion and decides to go with his girlfriend.”
Hit the jump to see what else he had to say about the sequel. In addition to Klein, the film reunites Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge and Shannon Elizabeth. http://collider.com/chris-klein-american-reunion/100022/

Adrianne Palicki to Play Lady Jaye in G.I. JOE: COBRA STRIKES

by Matt Goldberg   Posted: July 1st, 2011

Adrianne Palicki will play the female lead in Jon Chu’s G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes.  According to Deadline, Palicki will play Lady Jaye (pictured above in what I seriously doubt is an approved military uniform).  The cast for the film continues to fill out as Paramount positions the sequel to be one of their summer 2012 tentpoles.  Palicki joins returning cast members Channing Tatum (who plays Duke), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), and Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow) along with new recruits Dwayne Johnson (Roadblock), RZA (Blind Master), D.J. Cotrona (Flint), and Elodie Yung (Jinx).  One of the major roles yet to be cast is original G.I. Joe, Joe Colton.  Deadline reports that Bruce Willis is the top choice for the role and he would certainly add some star power to the flick.
Hit the jump for a brief bio on Lady Jaye.  G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes opens August 10, 2012. http://collider.com/gi-joe2-adrianne-palicki-lady-jaye/99998/

Ben Foster Joins PROMETHEUS? Official Synopsis Revealed

by Matt Goldberg   Posted: July 1st, 2011

Ridley Scott’s Alien-prequel-but-not-an-Alien-prequel Prometheus already has a stellar cast.  The sci-fi flick features Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, and Guy Pearce, and now JoBlo is reporting that Ben Foster has signed on.  Almost everything about the film is being kept under wraps so we don’t know what role he’ll play, but Foster is a fantastic addition to any cast.
We’re still awaiting official confirmation from Fox on Foster’s casting, but the studio has dismissed yesterday’s rumored synopsis. Instead, they’ve provided an official synopsis which deserves some kind of award for vagueness.  Here’s what the synopsis tells you definitively: the movie takes place in outer space (and we already knew that).  Hit the jump to read the synopsis and learn nothing.  Prometheus opens in 3D on June 8, 2012. http://collider.com/prometheus-ben-foster-synopsis/99966/

"Alien" Prequel Plot Synopsis Revealed?

Posted: July 1st, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequel, called "Prometheus," is a top secret project for the director and 20th Century Fox. While bits of information have leaked out through interviews, we have yet to piece together the plot of the film.

Now, AlienPrequelNews has got their hands on a possible and every detailed plot synopsis for "Prometheus." And while we don't know if this plot is accurate, it seems to fit perfectly with everything that we've previously heard. Read at your own risk.

SPOILERS AHEAD:

Earth. Year 2058.

Archaeological digs in Africa reveal alien artifacts that humans were genetically engineered by a advanced alien race (space jockeys). These "Alien Gods" also terraformed Earth in order to make it habitable for their human creations. Amongst finds are coordinates to the Alien God’s home-world, to Paradise. Months later the Weyland Corp launch the spaceship PROMETHEUS and his crew, into deep space to make first contact. Thanks to faster than light travel a few years later the PROMETHEUS enters the Zeta Riticuli star system. Humans are greeted by their makers, then transported further into space to a scary yet fascinating world. The Alien Gods are proud of their "children," their first creation to reach such levels of intelligence.

As a reward they share bits of their astonishing bio-based technologies with the humans. But for one crew member of the Prometheus it's not enough. In a treacherous act he steals the "bio-source code" to Terraforming, a technology at the origin of all Gods' power, that could make humans equal to the gods. The Alien Gods may be scientists but are also ruthless conquerors, destroyers of worlds who will not accept humans as equals. They unleash on the escaping human crew their favorite bio-weapon, a creature used to "clean up" worlds before colonization. But something goes wrong in the process and humans manage to turn the bio-weapon against their makers. Giving birth to a smarter, nastier, bigger breed of gut eating creatures. Creatures that will be the demise of Paradise. What's left of the Prometheus crew manages to escape the doomed planet.

On their trail a survivor Alien God in very familiar ship with one ultimate mission. Bring the wrath of the Gods to Earth.

First Look: Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway in "The Dark Knight Rises" Set Video

Posted: July 1st, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Christopher Nolan is currently shooting "The Dark Knight Rises," the third film in the franchise. And while he tries really hard to keep as much of the story secret as possible, there are always people who are able to take a photo or a video of the filming.

Today we have a video of a rainy scene in which Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) knocks on the door of a house, but get no answer. At that point, Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway) walks up and they leave together. Check out the video below.

The hand-holding may indicate that that there is a romantic part to their relationship. And it's likely that they'll also team up as Batman and Catwoman, clearing up why Michael Caine previously said that Batman and another character will leave the mansion to fight crime.

Trailer for MEEK’S CUTOFF Starring Michelle Williams

by Brendan Bettinger    Posted: February 26th, 2011

Oscilloscope has released the first trailer for Meek’s Cutoff, an indie western set in 1845, the earliest days of the Oregon Trail.  Three families hire Stephen Meek (Bruce Greenwood) to lead them on a troubled journey over the Cascade Mountains.  Michelle Williams, Will Patton, Zoe Kazan, Paul Dano, Shirley Henderson, Neal Huff, Tommy Nelson, and Rod Rondeauxn star alongside Greenwood, a character actor I’m excited to see in a lead role.
The trailer effectively invokes a quiet, moody atmosphere.  I expect no less from director Kelly Reichardt (Wendy and Lucy).  Watch the trailer after the break.

Michael Fassbender Says He's an Android in "Alien" Prequel

Posted: February 26th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
When Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) first joined the cast of Ridley Scott's upcoming "Alien" prequel, called "Prometheus," his character was described as an early version of Bishop 341-B android that Lance Henriksen played in "Aliens."

Since 20th Century Fox gave Scott permission to make an original sci-fi film, rather than an "Alien" prequel, there is no telling how the role has changed. So Entertainment Weekly went right to the source and asked Fassbender if he will play an android.

"I don't know what I can say," the actor said with a laugh. He then looked down at the tape-recorder and nodded affirmatively. "I don't want to get into trouble."

Regarding the film, he said: "It's a different story, but it's also got the traditional roots. 'Alien' fans will recognize things in it. It's not ignoring 'Alien,' there's still a link to that world. But it's a different story. It's definitely connected, though."

Ruffalo Says The Hulk Looks Just Like Him

Sunday, February 27, 2011 1:21 AM
MTV caught up with Mark Ruffalo at Saturday's 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards and got an interesting response when they asked if the Hulk in The Avengers will look like the actor. Here is what he said, and you can also watch him say the quotes using the video player:

"It's cool, it's gonna be great. The script is a nice combination of funny and was very in Joss Whedon's wheelhouse. And I got to see the maquette of the Hulk yesterday in full scope and it's awesome. Just like me. We're going out of our way to... first of all, I'm the first actor to actually do it in motion capture as the Hulk. And so, all the features are mine, they're just really big."

Abigail Breslin Joins Julianne Moore in Vampire Thriller INNOCENCE

by Brendan Bettinger    Posted: February 12th, 2011

Abigail Breslin has signed on to star opposite Julianne Moore in Innocence, an adaptation of the novel by Jane Menelsohn.  Breslin will play Beckett, “a recently bereaved teenage girl who finds herself the focus of everyone’s attention at her elitist private school, which is home to a nest of vampires.”  Hilary Brougher (Stephanie Daley) is on board to direct.
Hit the jump for a synopsis of the book, which notably omits the word “vampire.”

Judi Dench and Michelle Monaghan Join BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMISTRY

by Brendan Bettinger    Posted: February 12th, 2011

Judi Dench and Michelle Monaghan will join Jeremy Renner and Jennifer Garner in the indie thriller Better Living Through Chemistry.  The script from David Posamentier and Geoff Moore ranked 17th on the 2010 Black List of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplay, which provides this logline: “A straight-laced pharmacist’s (Renner) uneventful life spirals out of control when he starts an affair with a trophy wife (Garner) customer who takes him on a joyride involving sex, drugs and possibly murder.”  I really like this cast together, and I’m eager to see the ever-innocent Garner play against type.
Hit the jump for a look at the odd role that Dench will assume in the production (possible spoilers).

Colin Firth Joins "Oldboy" Director's "Stoker" Mystery Film

Posted: February 12th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Colin Firth will likely win the Best Actor Oscar for his role in "The King's Speech" and is currently being flooded with offers for movies. LA Times has learned that he has decided what he will do next, and it's "Stoker," the first English-language film by "Oldboy" director Chan Wook-Park.

Penned by actor Wentworth Miller ("Prison Break"), "Stoker" tells of a girl (Mia Wasikowska) and her mother who are visited by a mysterious uncle after the girl's father dies. Nicole Kidman is in talks to play the mother and Firth the uncle.

The Fox Searchlight film will begin shooting in late spring. Both Firth and Kidman will first meet with Park in LA this week to discuss their roles.

Charlize Theron Joins Ridley Scott's "Alien" Prequel

Posted: February 12th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Charlize Theron is in final negotiations to join Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) in Ridley Scott's "Prometheus," which was originally a prequel to "Alien" but has morphed into a more original sci-fi film.

Theron will play Vickers, one of the main female characters in the movie. She beat out Angelina Jolie for the role. Rapace will be the other female lead, playing scientist Elizabeth Shaw.

Fassbender told MTV that the film definitely has ties to the "Alien" franchise. "There's action in it," he said. "But the intelligence is what struck me when I read it. It's more sort of like the original ones. There are things happening and building, and the intelligence of the first two-thirds of the film gets you ready for the action."

Scott is currently working on the script with Damon Lindelof ("Lost"), and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 8th, 2012.

Ed Westwick Joins Clint Eastwood’s J. EDGAR; Charlize Theron Drops Out, Signs on for SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, Considers ALIEN Prequel

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: January 10th, 2011

Some casting shake-ups on Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar Hoover biopic J. Edgar today: Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl) officially joins the cast, while Charlize Theron opts not to take on the role of Hoover’s secretary. Westwick is set to play a clean cut operative who, after being assigned to write Hoover’s biography, begins to dig a little too deep into the enigmatic FBI director’s life. A few days ago, we told you that Armie Hammer (The Social Network) had signed on to star as Hoover’s lover and confidant Clyde Tolson opposite Leonardo Dicaprio as Hoover himself. Damon Herriman (FX’s Justified) and Dame Judi Dench round out the cast announced thus far, with Dench portraying Hoover’s mother. Deadline reports that Eastwood is now looking to cast either Amy Adams or Naomi Watts in the role of Hoover’s secretary.
Vulture reports that Theron, who was never officially attached to the film, has ultimately decided not to take part in the film. Instead, the actress has signed on to star in Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman, and may be mulling over Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel. More after the jump.
In addition to reporting Westwick’s addition to the cast of J. Edgar, Deadline also says Theron has officially signed on for Snow White and the Huntsman. Back in October, we told you that she was eying the role of the evil queen in the film Now it appears she’s decided to star in the film after-all. With little movement on the flick as of late (other than more casting rumors), this could mean that production is gearing to start up soon.
Now on to that Alien rumor: While there’s no official word on this, and casting rumors regarding the Alien prequel have run rampant the past few months (not to mention highly inaccurately), Vulture is reporting that Theron will “get the new version of the Alien script sometime this week and make her decision soon.” They claim that Fox execs are keen on grabbing a big name star for the project, while Scott is partial towards Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). Apparently, if Scott casts Rapace as the star, the studio wants a big name actress to take on the supporting role of “Vickers.” This supporting role is apparently being expanded, and that’s the role that Theron is looking towards when she reads the script. Take this with a grain of salt, as there’s been little official news on the project as of late other than the denial of all previous casting rumors/supposed plot details.
Theron is currently filming director Jason Reitman’s Young Adult, from a script by Diablo Cody (Juno). The film stars Patrick Wilson and Patton Oswalt and is set to be released sometime this year.
