Fifteen years after Scream began with a terrifying phone call that kicked off one of the most successful horror film franchises, director Wes Craven, writer Kevin Williamson, and stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette have all reunited for to renew the Ghostface legacy in Scream 4.


At the film’s press day, co-stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette talked about playing these characters for 15 years now, the challenges of bringing the Scream franchise to a newer and more savvy audience, working with a horror icon like Wes Craven, working with the new cast that was brought in this time around, and whether they cover their own eyes during horror films. Joe Pesci Joins John Gotti Biopic GOTTI: THREE GENERATIONS; Lindsay Lohan in Talks

Joe Pesci will join John Travolta in the biopic Gotti: Three Generations. Travolta will play the famed New York mafia boss; Pesci has agreed to play Angelo Ruggiero, deputy to infamous New York mafia boss John Gotti (Travolta). Lindsay Lohan is in talks for an unspecified role to add a bizarre level of eclecticism to the proceedings.


Nick Cassavetes (My Sister’s Keeper) is on board to direct from a script by Leo Rossi. Fiore Films made the announcement today at a press conference which featured Travolta, Cassavetes, and John Gotti Jr. Hit the jump for more information revealed at the event.

Director Justin Lin Talks about Possibility of Directing a New TERMINATOR Film

In February, we reported that Universal was interested in resurrecting the Terminator franchise with Fast Five director Justin Lin at the helm. Our partners at Omelete spoke with Lin today at the Fast Five press junket and got him to comment on the possibility of reviving the Terminator franchise. Briefly, Lin says he has a take on Terminator he would like to see and that he’s spoken with Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, he’s also looking at other projects and hasn’t decided what will be his next directing gig.

Not Casting Call: Amy Adams Passes on ROCK OF AGES; Hugh Jackman Won’t Star in SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN

Today in not-casting news, we have updates to a couple of our previous stories. First up, Deadline is reporting that while Russell Brand is confirmed for Rock of Ages, Amy Adams has passed on the role of a journalist who sleeps with rock star Stacee Jaxx (Tom Cruise). Like Anne Hathaway before her, Adams had a scheduling conflict due to a leading role in a superhero movie. In this case, Adams will be busy playing Lois Lane in Man of Steel. Rock of Ages is currently set to open on June 1, 2012.


In a related non-casting story, The Wrap reports that Hugh Jackman won’t play the Huntsman in Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman. The project continues to look for a male lead after Viggo Mortensen passed on the movie last month. Kristen Stewart is in talks to play Snow White who is taught how to survive by the Huntsman. Charlize Theron is confirmed to play the evil queen. Snow White and the Huntsman is slated to be released on December 21, 2012.

Screenwriter/author Jerry Stahl (Bad Boys II) has been tapped to pen the screenplay for the remake of The Thin Man starring Johnny Depp. Rob Marshall (Chicago), who recently teamed with Depp on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, is in negotiations to direct the flick. The Thin Man centers on private detective-turned-socialite Nick Charles and his charming wife Nora as they’re drawn into investigating a murder. The 1934 film was itself adapted from the novel by Dashiell Hammett.


Heat Vision reports that Depp will produce the film with his Infinitum Nihil partner Christi Dembrowski. Warner Bros. was taking their time in finding the right screenwriter who could contemporize the story without altering the period setting. Depp is currently getting ready to film Dark Shadows for director Tim Burton, and is also attached to The Lone Ranger with Rango director Gore Verbinski at the helm.

Benicio Del Toro in Talks to Join Oliver Stone’s SAVAGES

Director Oliver Stone seems to be rounding out the cast for his upcoming adaptation of Don Winslow’s novel Savages. Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass) and Taylor Kitsch (TV’s Friday Night Lights) are set to play two pot-growers whose shared girlfriend is kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel demanding that they grow exclusively for them. Now Deadline reports that Benicio Del Toro is in talks to take on the role of the leader of the drug cartel and villain of the film.


Salma Hayek is also in discussions with Stone to play the matriarch of the cartel that becomes maternal to the boys’ kidnapped girlfriend Ophelia. Jennifer Lawrence was originally in talks to portray Ophelia, but her casting in The Hunger Games prevented her from taking the role. Stone is said to be “casting a wide net” to look for actresses to take on the leading female role. The script is currently being honed by Stone, Winslow and Shane Salerno (Shaft). In Scream 4, Sydney Prescott returns to Woodsboro for a signing of her new book. Well, as you can imagine, Ghostface starts to terrorize the town once again. The old gang, alongside a number of new faces, take turns running around, spouting off pop-culture-infused wit, and getting killed. Sounds like a good time to be had by all.

Vin Diesel updated his Facebook followers with a new video that reveals little, but ensures that progress on Riddick, the chapter to follow Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, continues.

Writer-director David Twohy makes an appearance and states Riddick will be similar to Pitch Black in relation to the size of the budget (that, in turn will help maintain an R rating).

"We're gonna be lean and we're going to go quick and it's going to be a cool movie, I can tell you that," Twohy adds.

Here's a synopsis for Riddick we received a few months back:

"Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. The Mexican poster for Scream 4 has come online and can be viewed below. Opening in theaters on April 15, the Wes Craven-directed sequel stars Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Courteney Cox Arquette, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Marielle Jaffe, Rory Culkin, Nico Tortorella, Erik Knudsen, Marley Shelton, Anthony Anderson, Adam Brody, Alison Brie, Mary McDonnell, Anna Paquin, Kristen Bell and Brittany Roberts.

In the film, Sidney Prescott (Campbell), now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (Arquette) and Gale (Cox), who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (Roberts) and her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). New posters for Scream 4 and Bridesmaids have gone online.  The Scream 4 poster keeps the Albino-Face theme they’ve been using since the marketing for the movies began back in 1996.  As for Bridesmaids, we see stars Kristen Wiig (who co-wrote the film), Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey, and Ellie Kemper looking like a bunch of bad-asses.

Here’s the official synopsis for Scream 4:

Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox), who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) and her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). First Footage of Orlando Bloom on the set of THE THREE MUSKETEERS

The first on-set footage of Orlando Bloom in The Three Musketeers has hit the web, courtesy of ET, and it’s a bit strange. We recently brought you the first high-resolution images from the film, which is helmed by director Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil: Afterlife). Bloom stars alongside Mila Jovovich, Christoph Waltz, Matthew MacFayden, Logan Lerman and Luke Evans. The video, in which Bloom gives his best Jack Sparrow impression (albeit unintentionally), shows the actor filming scenes and features a brief, and very bizarre, interview. New Images from SCREAM 4

Dimension has released a couple of new high-resolution images from director Wes Craven’s upcoming Scream 4. The film reunites most of the main cast from the original films with Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette all returning for another Woodsboro-killing-spree adventure. Joining them in what will hopefully be a return to the meta-horror/comedy of the first film is Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin, Hayden Panettiere and a number of other awesome people (Kristen Bell! New Images from SPIDER-MAN Reboot Set; Superhero Seen Racing Through Traffic [UPDATED]

After a superb amateur shot of Spider-Man running through the streets of Downtown L.A. hit the web, other non-professionals have returned to the on-location shoot of Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot and captured some great shots from the set.

These are evidently stunt shots, and not photos of Andrew Garfield who is playing the superhero in the movie, as we see Spider-Man running through traffic attempting to catch up with a pick-up truck.

Director Simon West Wants to Make CON AIR 2

Put the bunny back in the box. Again. While promoting his latest film, The Mechanic, director Simon West let loose a wish of his that is so Earth-shatteringly awesome, it absolutely has to happen. While he’s been at the helm of films such as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and When a Stranger Calls, West got his start on the 1997 film Con Air. The premise? En route to a different penitentiary, a group of maximum-security prisoners take control of their transport plane. The cast? John Malkovich, John Cusack, Dave Chappelle, Steve Buscemi and Nic Cage. Also, lots and lots of explosions. Awesomeness-overload. In an interview with Crave Online (via Dark Horizons), West expressed his wish for a sequel:

“Con Air 2 I’d like to do. It’d be great. It’s a matter of getting everybody together. There’s so many people involved and it’s about getting everybody to agree. But I’m going to bring it up to Nic. I’m going to put a bug in his ear about it. If the two of us want to do it, we’ll go after the others.”

Though nothing is officially in the works, and at this point the film is merely an idea, if there’s any justice in this Epic Movie-ridden world, Con Air 2 will eventually be made complete with explosions, bunnies in boxes, and a new/fantastic Nic Cage hairstyle.
