**Oliver Stone Wants Blake Lively for Savages **Shia LaBeouf & Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: New 'Transformers' Still! **Walter Hill Will Direct Sylvester Stallone in HEADSHOT

Walter Hill Will Direct Sylvester Stallone in HEADSHOT
by Brendan Bettinger Posted: April 11th, 2011
In the initial report, Wayne Kramer (The Cooler) was tagged to direct Sylvester Stallone in the action thriller Headshot. However creative differences led Kramer away from the project last week. Stallone quickly found a replacement — he has revealed to AICN that Walter Hill will command the director’s chair:

“It’s official. We’ve got Walter Hill on board so would love for you to let the world know. We’ve been on the same track since The Driver, then 48 Hrs didn’t happen so here we are almost 35 years later, I’m finally driving with Walter Hill.”

The Headshot script by Alessandro Camon (The Messenger) sees Stallone as a New Orleans hitman who teams with a young NYPD detective: “The unlikely duo, brought together by two vicious murders, take on all who stand in their way, and are willing to sacrifice everything to exact revenge.” More after the jump:

Oliver Stone Wants Blake Lively for Savages

Blake Lively would play free-spirited OpheliaBlake Lively is Oliver Stone's first choice for the role of the female lead in Savages, which might conflict with the actress' plans to play Glinda the Good Witch in Disney's Oz: The Great and Powerful.

Oliver Stone is writing and directing the film, which follows two Laguna Beach marijuana kingpins forced to work for a Mexican drug cartel after Ophelia, the free-spirited girlfriend they share, is kidnapped.

Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch are in talks to play the two male leads, with Benicio Del Toro negotiating for one of the cartel enforcers.

Jennifer Lawrence was Oliver Stone's previous first choice, but her casting as Katniss in The Hunger Games, took her out of the running.

Salma Hayek and Uma Thurman have also been eyed for roles.

Production will start in June.

Savages comes to theaters in 2012 and stars Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Johnson, Benicio Del Toro. The film is directed by Oliver Stone.

**Jerry Stahl to Write THE THIN MAN Remake Starring Johnny Depp **Benicio Del Toro in Talks to Join Oliver Stone’s SAVAGES **3 Clips from SCREAM 4

Jerry Stahl to Write THE THIN MAN Remake Starring Johnny Depp
by Adam Chitwood Posted: March 22nd, 2011
Screenwriter/author Jerry Stahl (Bad Boys II) has been tapped to pen the screenplay for the remake of The Thin Man starring Johnny Depp. Rob Marshall (Chicago), who recently teamed with Depp on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, is in negotiations to direct the flick. The Thin Man centers on private detective-turned-socialite Nick Charles and his charming wife Nora as they’re drawn into investigating a murder. The 1934 film was itself adapted from the novel by Dashiell Hammett.

Heat Vision reports that Depp will produce the film with his Infinitum Nihil partner Christi Dembrowski. Warner Bros. was taking their time in finding the right screenwriter who could contemporize the story without altering the period setting. Depp is currently getting ready to film Dark Shadows for director Tim Burton, and is also attached to The Lone Ranger with Rango director Gore Verbinski at the helm.

Benicio Del Toro in Talks to Join Oliver Stone’s SAVAGES
by Adam Chitwood Posted: March 22nd, 2011
Director Oliver Stone seems to be rounding out the cast for his upcoming adaptation of Don Winslow’s novel Savages. Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass) and Taylor Kitsch (TV’s Friday Night Lights) are set to play two pot-growers whose shared girlfriend is kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel demanding that they grow exclusively for them. Now Deadline reports that Benicio Del Toro is in talks to take on the role of the leader of the drug cartel and villain of the film.

Salma Hayek is also in discussions with Stone to play the matriarch of the cartel that becomes maternal to the boys’ kidnapped girlfriend Ophelia. Jennifer Lawrence was originally in talks to portray Ophelia, but her casting in The Hunger Games prevented her from taking the role. Stone is said to be “casting a wide net” to look for actresses to take on the leading female role. The script is currently being honed by Stone, Winslow and Shane Salerno (Shaft). Filming is set to begin in June. Hit the jump for a synopsis of the book.

Taylor Kitsch, Salma Hayek, and Olivia Wilde Under Consideration for Oliver Stone’s SAVAGES
by Brendan Bettinger Posted: March 19th, 2011
We heard earlier in the week Aaron Johnson (Kick Ass) was offered the role of Ben in Oliver Stone’s adaptation of Savages. Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights) is now in talks to play Chon, who grows marijuana with Ben in Laguna Beach in the novel by Don Winslow. The story centers around the boys’ struggle with a Mexican drug cartel that tries to muscle in on Ben and Chon’s business, even kidnapping their “beautiful young playmate and accomplice” Ophelia. Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) was in talks to play Ophelia, but had to drop out due to her commitment to The Hunger Games. Deadline indicates that Stone is looking at Olivia Wilde (Tron: Legacy) and other unspecified candidates similar to Ms. Wilde for the role. Likewise, Stone is talking to Salma Hayek to play the cartel matriarch, “an iron-fisted beauty who becomes intrigued and practically maternal over the kidnapped [Ophelia].”

Universal Pictures is reportedly the frontrunner among three studios to land the distribution deal for Savages. Filming is scheduled to begin in June. Read the book synopsis after the break.

Stephen King in Talks to Write "The Walking Dead" Episode
Posted: March 20th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

We recently heard that Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) passed on the chance to direct an episode of "The Walking Dead," claiming that he's a huge fan of the show and didn't want to mess it up.

Now comes word that author Stephen King is in talks to write a Season 2 episode. This isn't much of a surprise since King has a long-standing relationship with show creator Frank Darabont, who adapted King's "Shawshank Redemption," "The Green Mile" and "The Mist" for the big screen.

The second season of "The Walking Dead" will air on AMC this Fall, but Darabont won't be directing the premiere episode. He will, however, likely helm an episode later in the season.

*Ryan Gosling to Star in LOGAN’S RUN Remake Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn **Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper in Talks to Join ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER ***Jennifer Lawrence in Talks to Star in Oliver Stone’s SAVAGES

Ryan Gosling to Star in LOGAN’S RUN Remake Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: February 10th, 2011

Here’s some awesome news: Ryan Gosling is set to star in Warner Bros’ remake of the sci-fi flick Logan’s Run.  Here’s some more awesome news: Nicolas Winding Refn is set to direct.  Deadline reports that Gosling is eager to reunite with his Drive director and it’s so cool that Warners is giving Refn a tent pole flick.  Carl Erik Rinsch was originally set to direct, but stepped down in November to helm 47 Ronin instead.
Studios have been eager to get Gosling and his “Hey Girl” looks and acting talent into a tent pole flick and while he’s going more mainstream with the rom-com Stupid, Crazy, Love this summer with Steve Carell, this is definitely a big transition for the in-demand actor.  He’s also attached to star in George Clooney’s political drama The Ides of March.  However, while I’m happy for Gosling, I’m even more jazzed about Refn getting the gig.  I became a big fan of the guy after watching the Pusher trilogy and Bronson and I can’t wait to see what he does with Logan’s Run.  For those unfamiliar with Logan’s Run, hit the jump for a synopsis.

Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper in Talks to Join ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: February 10th, 2011

Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) and Dominic Cooper (An Education) are in talks to join Benjamin Walker in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire HunterDeadline reports that Mackie is up for the role of Will, Lincoln’s best friend.  I bet they have great discussions about slavery while they’re in the middle of killing vamps.  As for Cooper, Variety reports that he’s negotiating for the role of Henry, “a mythic, ageless figure who turns Lincoln into an axe-throwing expert slayer of vampires”.  Last week, we reported that Joaquin Phoenix was the front-runner for Henry, but it looks like he’s passed on the part.
Director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) is clearly going for rising stars in his casting and that’s a smart move since it keeps costs down but by the time the film opens next summer, Mackie and Cooper could be better known.  Hit the jump for more on the two new additions and a brief synopsis.  Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is due out in 3D on June 22, 2012.

Jennifer Lawrence in Talks to Star in Oliver Stone’s SAVAGES

by Jason Barr    Posted: February 10th, 2011

Oscar-nominee Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) is in talks to star in Oliver Stone’s adaptation of the Don Winslow novel Savages. If the deal comes through, Lawrence would play the role of “O,” the double-duty girlfriend of buddy pot growers Ben and Chon. For those unaware, Winslow’s Savages focuses on the aforementioned Ben and Chon as they attempt to quietly enjoy the fruits of their weed labors in Laguna Beach. The Savages screenplay was penned by Winslow alongside Shane Salerno (CBS’ Hawaii Five-O and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem) who is also acting as executive producer on the project alongside Stone and Moritz Borman.
While the roles of Ben and Chon have yet to be cast, Deadline reports that actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Aaron Johnson, Tom Hardy, Garret Hedlund, and James Franco have all met with Stone regarding the characters. With Stone expected to begin shooting Savages this June, we may be hearing more news on the casting front sooner rather than later. For more on the project, hit the jump to check out a synopsis for Winslow’s novel.
