Minnie Driver To Star In CBS Private Eye Drama Pilot, Alan Tudyk Joins ABC Comedy
| Monday February 21, 2011
Minnie Driver is returning to series television as star of CBS' drama pilot Hail Mary. The project, created by Jeff Wadlow and executive produced by Ilene Chaiken, is a buddy P.I. show set in Atlanta that focuses on a suburban single mom (Driver) who teams up with a streetwise hustler to solve crimes. In addition to Hail Mary, Driver was also pursued for the NBC pilot Free Agents this season. This was one of 2 offers for On American TV, British-born Driver, repped by CAA and Untitled, previously starred on FX's The Riches and recurred on NBC's Will & Grace. She was most recently seen in Conviction.
Alan Tudyk has been cast in ABC's comedy pilot Suburgatory. The project, from Warner Bros. TV and writer-exec producer Emily Kapnek, centers on Tessa (Jane Levy), a teenage girl who is moved by her dad George from Manhattan, where she grew up, to her version of hell: the suburbs. Tudyk will play George's old college buddy who has been living in the suburbs for years. Tudyk, repped by Gersh and Coronel Co., was approached for multiple pilots. He will next be seen in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

A new trailer has been issued for Hesher, another movie that features Black Swan star Natalie Portman, along with Rainn Wilson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Devon Brochu. The film was first seen at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, and is one of the first releases from upstart Wrekin Hill, the distributor formed last year by Newmarket's Chris Ball. Wrekin Hill finally releases the film in April. Hesher certainly looks different:

Leonardo DiCaprio wears a hat and long coat and gets into character for J. Edgar on Friday (February 11) in Los Angeles.
The 36-year-old actor chatted with director Clint Eastwood on set and got his makeup retouched in between takes.
The day before, Leo suited up in a tux while filming scenes with co-star Armie Hammer.
Leo’s next project may have him stepping behind the camera.
His production company, Appian Way, is close to closing a deal for Harker, which centers around a Scotland Yard detective who is tracking Dracula, Deadline reports.

David Duchovny, Vera Farmiga, Keri Russell, Minnie Driver, and Will Arnett Join Indie Comedy GOATS
by Matt Goldberg Posted: January 10th, 2011
David Duchovny, Vera Farmiga, Keri Russell, Minnie Driver, and Will Arnett have joined Ty Burrell and Graham Phillips (Evan Almighty) in Christopher Neil’s indie comedy Goats. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Mark Jude Poirier (Smart People). With the exception of Duchovny, this is a very different cast than the one that was attached a year ago, which according to The Playlist, included Hopper Penn, Robin Wright, Josh Brolin, Jason Schwartzman, and Robert Schwartzman. Here’s the synopsis from the press release:
The coming of age story follows 15 year-old, Ellis (Phillips) as he moves from Wendy, his flakey, new age mother’s (Farmiga) South-Western home to an East Coast prep school where his estranged father Frank (Burrell) was once a star student. For Ellis, this means leaving behind the only real dad he has ever known, Goat Man (Duchovny), his pot-smoking, goat herding mentor, and ultimately needing to evaluate his new prep school lifestyle that’s in stark contrast to his stoner upbringing. Rounding out the cast are Keri Russell as Frank’s new wife, Minnie Driver as Wendy’s best friend and yogic advisor Johanna, and Will Arnett as Wendy’s boyfriend Bennett.
