She'll be playing Lady Jaye and is joining a cast that includes Channing Tatum as Duke, Dwayne Johnston as Roadblock, Ray Park as Snake Eyes, Byung Hun-lee as Storm Shadow and RZA as Blind Master.
Deadline says that one key role remaining to be cast is that of Joe Colton, the original GI Joe. Several actors are in talks, including Bruce Willis.

Olivia Wilde Goes Old School Glam For LA Times Magazine

Olivia Wilde Goes Old School Glam For LA Times Magazine
Posted July 1, 2011 3:01 am by Molly Goodson
Olivia Wilde transformed into a blond bombshell for LA Times Magazine. The actress and activist posed in a series of sexy sequins gowns for the shoot, though the accompanying interview focuses largely on Olivia's work in Haiti. These days it seems like Olivia's name is in the news being linked to every single man in Hollywood, with the most recent being Ryan Reynolds, but she also has two movies coming out this Summer. Olivia Wildecostars with Ryan Reynolds in The Change-Up and she'll also appear in Cowboys and Aliens, and her director in that film, John Favreau, gushed about her for the article. Here are highlights from Olivia's interview, which is out in full this weekend:
- On balancing work in Haiti and acting: "I was crouched outside this cholera clinic, sitting on a cinder block with my phone [about] to help hand out rice at a refugee camp and figure out how our students can build more classrooms. It was hard for me to be on the ball during that call, but I had to remember that acting is actually my job. Whenever I want to say, 'F--k Hollywood,' I have to remember that the reason I am even useful in Haiti is because I have a job here."
- On helping with a documentary about Haiti: "I don’t throw my weight around, because I don’t think I have the weight to throw around yet. . . . I meekly and politely ask if I can throw in my two cents, and I have been so lucky that they’ve brought me into the writing process. I’m always wandering around on set going, 'Where are the writers?'"
- Jon Favreau on Olivia: "Someone who’s that attractive and talented and smart? Sky’s the limit for her, because that just doesn’t come around that often." http://www.popsugar.com/Olivia-Wilde-LA-Times-Magazine-Pictures-18095200

First Image from Rian Johnson’s LOOPER
by Matt Goldberg Posted: May 13th, 2011 at 7:40 am
If you asked me to name my top ten most-anticipated films of 2012, Rian Johnson’s Looper would easily be near the top of the list. The sci-fi flick is about “Loopers”, hitmen who travel back in time to kill their targets in the past so as to erase their existence in the future. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays, Joe, a looper who eventually has to face his future self (played by Bruce Willis). While the image looks like it could be from any Bruce Willis action movie of the last ten years, Johnson has already proved with Brick and The Brothers Bloom that he’ll bring you something recognizable and yet unlike anything you’ve seen before. There will certainly be sci-fi action, but I wouldn’t be expecting Surrogates 2.
Hit the jump to check out the image. The film also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Garrett Dillahunt, and Jeff Daniels. Looper is expected to hit theaters in the first hal of 2012, but I wouldn’t complain if it came out this year instead. http://collider.com/looper-movie-image/90680/
Mark Wahlberg to Star in David O. Russell’s Adaptation of THE SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK
by Matt Goldberg Posted: May 13th, 2011 at 8:11 am
Filmmaker David O. Russell has had a wealth of projects to choose from since the success of The Fighter. Now it looks like he’s finally zeroing on his next film as Vulture reports that Mark Wahlberg is set to reunite with O. Russell for The Silver Linings Playbook. In December, we reported that O. Russell was circling the adaptation of Matthew Quick’s 2008 novel with possibly Bradley Cooper and Anne Hathaway to star presumably because Cooper and Hathaway are getting offered every role in Hollywood. There’s no word on Hathaway’s current status in regards to the project, but Wahlberg will play “a delusional former high school history teacher who’s just been released into the custody of his mom. Believing that he’s only been away for a few months instead of the four years he just spent in a mental institution, the teacher sets about wooing back his ex-wife.”
So where does this leave O. Russell’s adaptation of the popular video game Uncharted? Most likely on the backburner as Vulture reports that Playbook will probably be O. Russell’s next film. Hit the jump for a synopsis of the novel.
Lars Von Trier to Remake THE FIVE OBSTRUCTIONS with Martin Scorsese
by Phil Brown Posted: May 13th, 2011 at 8:28 am
The best part about the Cannes Film Festival for those of us sadly unable to walk to Croisette are the upcoming movie announcements that slip out from that magical land. There’s only one place where Werner Herzog could announce a Bad Lieutenant remake with Nicholas Cage and today the first of what is sure to be many odd movie announcements has crossed the pond from Cannes. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lars Von Trier will be remaking his 2003 movie The Five Obstructions in which he challenged filmmaker Jorgen Leth to remake his short film five times, each with some sort of insane filmmaking restriction that could only spring from the mind of a certain torturous Danish director. However, this time it’s Martin Scorsese who will be struggling to create under Von Trier’s malicious supervision. The idea of hearing Scorsese’s machine gun delivery trying to out talk Von Trier’s laconic mischievous tone has the makings of a hilarious documentary custom-made for movie geeks. Hit the jump for further details on this deeply bizarre, but exciting project.

McConaughey, Maguire, Vergara, and Efron to Star in Lee Daniels’ THE PAPERBOY
by Matt Goldberg Posted: May 13th, 2011 at 10:10 am
THR reports that filmmaker “Pedro Almodovar (Talk to Her) developed the project for over a decade with Dexter before Daniels came on board. As we reported in February, Daniels wanted Bradley Cooper, Alex Pettyfer, and Vergara so 1 out of 3 ain’t bad especially when you consider that the one you got is terrific and the other two are kind of bland. McConaughey did some great work earlier this year with The Lincoln Lawyer, Maguire is always reliable, and I’m willing to give Efron a shot at weightier material. Hit the jump for the synopsis of the book (which has nothing to do with the classic arcade game pictured above).

**Cameron Diaz to Star in WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU’RE EXPECTING **New Image of Henry Cavill in IMMORTALS **Vince Vaughn Joins Rebecca Hall, Bruce Willis, and Catherine Zeta-Jones in LAY THE FAVORITE
Cameron Diaz to Star in WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU’RE EXPECTING
by Adam Chitwood Posted: May 5th, 2011
Since we’re apparently making movies out of baby books now, Cameron Diaz is close to being set to star in What to Expect When You’re Expecting. Kirk Jones (Nanny McPhee) is directing from a script by Heather Hach (2003’s Freaky Friday) and Shauna Cross (Whip It!). Deadline reports that while nothing’s official yet, Diaz is expected to sign on to the film shortly. The approach to the flick is to tell a Love Actually-esque story, which is officially the only way to make self-help-based-romantic-comedies (yeah, that’s a thing now). The story will follow five expectant couples through the ups and downs of pregnancy.
New Image of Henry Cavill in IMMORTALS
by Jason Barr Posted: May 5th, 2011
With the film’s new trailer set to debut in front of Thor this weekend, Relativity has sent over a new image of a spear-wielding Henry Cavill in Tarsem Singh’s Immortals. Briefly, Immortals tells the story of a stonemason named Theseus (Cavill) who vows to stop the ruthless King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) from obtaining the long lost Bow of Epirus. In addition to Cavill and Rourke, Immortals also stars Isabel Lucas, John Hurt, Freida Pinto, Kellan Lutz, Luke Evans, and Stephen Dorff. The film hits theaters later this year on November 11th.

Vince Vaughn Joins Rebecca Hall, Bruce Willis, and Catherine Zeta-Jones in LAY THE FAVORITE
by Brendan Bettinger Posted: May 5th, 2011
Vince Vaughn will join Rebecca Hall, Bruce Willis, and Catherine Zeta-Jones in the gambling drama Lay the Favorite. The film is based on the memoir of Beth Raymer, played by Hall in the biopic. Once a Las Vegas cocktail waitress, Raymer became an elite professional gambler: “After falling in love, Raymer soon begins to re-evaluate her life and the profession she has chosen.” Deadline reports Vaughn will play Rosie, a Long Island bookie who employed Raymer. Willis is Dink Heimowitz, Raymer’s mentor who teaches her the finer points of betting on sports. Zeta-Jones will play Dink’s wife.
Stephen Frears will direct from a script by D.V. De Vincentis. I’m always interested in the latest from Frears, and I like the collection of eclectic gathering around Lay the Favorite. Read a synopsis of Raymer’s memoir after the jump.

**Ginnifer Goodwin and John Krasinski Interview SOMETHING BORROWED **Bruce Willis to Reteam with 50 Cent for FIRE WITH FIRE **New Trailer for GREEN LANTERN Starring Ryan Reynolds **Malin Akerman Joins ROCK OF AGES **Danny Boyle to Direct TRANCE before the 2012 Summer Olympics **Trailer for MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE
Ginnifer Goodwin and John Krasinski Interview SOMETHING BORROWED
by Christina Radish Posted: May 4th, 2011
In the romantic dramedy Something Borrowed, actress Ginnifer Goodwin plays Rachel, a talented attorney at a top New York law firm. She is a loyal friend who is generous, much to her own detriment, when it comes to her best friend Darcy (Kate Hudson). When Rachel unexpectedly reveals to Darcy’s fiancé, Dex (Colin Egglesfield), that she’s had a crush on him since their time in law school, one thing leads to another and Rachel finds herself caught between her life-long friendship with Darcy, and the love of her life.
At the press day, Ginnifer Goodwin and her co-star John Krasinski, who often is the voice of reason in the film, talked about the challenge of finding sympathy for characters doing very unlikeable things, why some friendships just aren’t meant to be, what songs they danced to in front of the mirror when they were kids, and the difference between exploring a character for film and for television. John also talked about his role in The Muppets, and Ginnifer talked about her ABC pilot Once Upon a Time, in which she plays Snow White. Check out what they had to say after the jump:

Bruce Willis to Reteam with 50 Cent for FIRE WITH FIRE
by Matt Goldberg Posted: May 4th, 2011
Hey, remember that trailer we showed you in March for the awful-looking Bruce Willis/50 Cent thriller Setup? It may have looked laughably-bad to all of us, but apparently Willis and Fiddy had a fun time working together because they’re re-teaming for another indie crime flick. Variety reports that Willis and 50 Cent (I was going to simply say “actors”, but then I realized that would only be half-true) along with Josh Duhamel will star in Fire with Fire. The story “centers on a fireman in the witness protection program. When he’s threatened by the man he plans to testify against, he takes matters into his own hands to save the love of his life.” There’s no justice quite like fireman justice. Just ask Howie Long. David Barrett will direct from a script by Tom Conner.
Voltage Films will be selling the rights to the film at Cannes next week. Filming is expected to begin on June 27th with an almost-inevitable-direct-to-DVD release date to be announced at a later date.
New Trailer for GREEN LANTERN Starring Ryan Reynolds
by Matt Goldberg Posted: May 4th, 2011
Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for the superhero tentpole Green Lantern. Ryan Reynolds stars as Hal Jordan, the first human ever selected for the Green Lantern Corps: “A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers.” The movie also stars Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, and Tim Robbins. Martin Campbell (Edge of Darkness) directed the comic book adaptation.
This trailer offers everything you’ve been waiting to see: character moments for Hector Hammond (Sarsgaard), Carol Ferris (Lively), Kilowog (voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan), and first looks at Amanda Walker (Bassett) and the Guardians of the Universe. I’ll admit that the CG on the Guardians looks kind of crappy, but there’s so much potentially great stuff in this trailer that I’m willing to suspend by disbelief a little further. I have no idea if this film is going to work, but I admire its ambition. Hit the jump to check out the trailer. Green Lantern opens in 3D on June 17. Watch the trailer after the jump.
http://collider.com/green-lantern-movie-trailer/81219/Malin Akerman Joins ROCK OF AGES
by Matt Goldberg Posted: May 4th, 2011
Adam Shankman’s musical Rock of Ages has been searching for months to find its “Constance”, the journalist who sleeps with decadent rock star Stacee Jaxx (Tom Cruise) even though she’s supposed to be writing an expose about him. The project courted Anne Hathaway and Amy Adams, but both actresses passed on the film after they were offered roles in superhero movies (Hathaway for The Dark Knight Rises and Adams for Man of Steel). Today, Rock of Ages finally has its Constance as Deadline reports that Malin Akerman will take the role. In addition to Tom Cruise, Akerman will be joining Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Diego Boneta, Julianne Hough, Bryan Cranston, and Catherine Zeta Jones.
Rock of Ages is the latest film to fall into Akerman’s packed schedule. She’s currently shooting Medallion with Nicolas Cage, she replaced Lindsay Lohan in Inferno: The Linda Lovelace Story, she’s co-starring in the romantic comedy The Giant Mechanical Man, and she’s starring opposite Ethan Hawke in the spy thriller The Numbers Station. Akerman can currently be seen in theaters co-starring in the war drama The Bang Bang Club and she has two more films coming out later this year: the indie crime thriller Criminal Empire for Dummy’s and the David Wain comedy Wanderlust. Rock of Ages is due out June 1, 2012.

by Matt Goldberg Posted: May 4th, 2011
Danny Boyle will be directing the opening ceremony for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, but that doesn’t mean there’s no time to shoot another movie. It’s just something that can be squeezed in, like a trip to the grocery store or picking up stamps. Deadline reports that Boyle will shoot Trance, which is about “an art heist gone wrong” and has the same “dark, sexy, hard-edged tone” of Boyle’s early films Shallow Grave and Trainspotting. Boyle plans to shoot the film this September in London, but once he’s finished, he’s going to put Trance on the shelf. Then he’ll switch gears, turn his attention to the Olympics, and then in August 2012, he’ll pick the film up again with an eye towards releasing it in March 2013.
Producing partner Christian Colson (Slumdog Millionaire) is on board and the duo are in talks with Pathe and Fox Searchlights for funding and distribution. The feature is budgeted in the mid-teens, which has worked out well for Boyle on his last two films. Slumdog Millionaire cost $15 million and grossed $377 million worldwide while 127 Hours cost $18 million and raked in a modest but still profitable $57 million worldwide.
.... http://collider.com/danny-boyle-trance/88941/Trailer for MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE
by Matt Goldberg Posted: May 4th, 2011
One of the best films I’ve seen so far this year is the haunting and emotionally complex drama Martha Marcy May Marlene. Now Fox Searchlight has released a trailer for the flick and it does a good job of selling how the story jumps around in time and showing the fractured psyche of its protagonist (Elisabeth Olsen in a breakthrough performance). I also love how it closes out with John Hawkes singing and giving you a hint of how disturbing he is in this film. I honestly believe he’s headed towards another Oscar nomination for his work in this film.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer and click here to read my Sundance review. Martha Marcy May Marlene will play at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. It opens in the U.S. on October 7th.

Will Ferrell on "Anchorman" and "Step Brothers" Sequels
Posted: May 3rd, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com StaffCollider and CinemaBlend had the chance to speak to Will Ferrell about whether there are any plans to develop sequels to his "Anchorman" and "Step Brothers" comedies, which where both directed by Adam McKay.
"We just had a great meeting with John C. Reilly about maybe another 'Step Brothers,'" said the actor. "Because 'Anchorman' is a brick wall right now."
Ferrell went on to say that Paramount Pictures is simply not interested in "Anchorman 2." But believes there is a way to change the studio's mind. "You really have to assert some sort of email hate campaign to Paramount Pictures," he explained. "They've told us, 'We've run the numbers and it's not a good fit.' So that one is a no-go, sadly."
