Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is red hot in Antonio Berardi at the premiere of Transformers: Dark of the Moon on Tuesday (June 28) in NYC’s Times Square.

The 24-year-old British model and actress met up with co-stars Shia LaBeouf and Tyrese Gibson on the red carpet.

Earlier in the day, Rosie got to work promoting the action flick on Live with Regis & Kelly.

Andrew Garfield: 'Spider-Man' Filming with Martin Sheen!

Andrew Garfield gets into character as Peter Parker on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man on Thursday (May 12) in Queens, New York.

The 27-year-old actor was joined by Martin Sheen, who plays Peter’s beloved Uncle Ben in the action flick.

The next day, Andrew was spotted hanging out with friends on the streets of NYC.

Earlier in the week, Andrew filmed scenes with Rhys Ifans, who plays Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard.

Julia on Tom directing her in the film: “God, no [I wasn't nervous]. We knew each other socially. When I was in Rome, shooting Eat Pray Love, Tom sent me the script and said, ‘Tell me what you think.’ I couldn’t stop smiling when I read it: It’s topical, but very positive.”

Julia on whether she’d ever be a director: “No. I can direct breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I take pride in my kitchen, but I’m not going to direct a movie.”

Tom on writing the role for Julia: “Yes. I had some teachers who looked like Julia. I would see them and think, I love you. So there was never anyone but Julia. Still, even after she said yes, I was the boss. That meant I got to say, ‘You don’t wear this dress, you wear that dress.’ And Julia’s Julia - she can be intimidating [Laughs].”

THE WOLF OF WALL STREET Starring Leonardo DiCaprio Lands at Red Granite Pictures, Martin Scorsese No Longer Directing

It’s been a very long road for the adaptation of Jordan Belfort’s 2008 memoir The Wolf of Wall Street. Originally, Leonardo DiCaprio was to produce and star in the film with Martin Scorsese directing. When production stalled, the two made Shutter Island instead. Then Ridley Scott came aboard the film as director last summer, only to be replaced by Scorsese again in February, when we learned that Warner Bros. had dropped the project and producers were now moving forward with independent financing. Now, The Playlist reports that indie Red Granite Pictures has picked up the rights to the project, with DiCaprio’s Appian Way still producing.
The report also states that Scorsese has moved on from the project. The director is expected to helm his long-in-gestation 17^th century Jesuit priest drama Silence after he finishes post production on Hugo Cabret. The script for Wolf of Wall Street was written by Sopranos writer (and Boardwalk Empire creator) Terrence Winter and tells the story of stockbroker excess in the 1990s. No word on when filming would begin, but with DiCaprio shooting The Great Gatsby later this year I wouldn’t expect any movement before sometime in 2012. First Clip from Lars Von Trier’s MELANCHOLIA

What better way could there be to celebrate a Wednesday than by watching a deeply depressing clip from an upcoming movie? And what filmmaker could fuel that mid-week depression better than Lars Von Trier? The eccentric Danish Dogme founder will be making his regular appearance at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival this year with his latest feature Melancholia, and will inevitably cause a media shitstorm of controversy as he does every time he walks the Croisette.
Today a new clip from the appropriately titled Melancholia has found its way to the internet, depicting a tearful Kristen Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg discussing the evil nature of earth. It should give you a sense of the tone of Von Trier’s impending apocalyptic tale and darken the mood of the rest of your day in less than a minute. In other words, it’s vintage Von Trier. The film will premiere in Cannes later this month with plans for a November North American release from Magnolia Pictures (expect it to make the summer/fall film festival run first). Katie Aselton to Direct and Star in BLACK ROCK Alongside Kate Bosworth and Lake Bell

Actress Katie Aselton is set to direct and star in the thriller Black Rock. Lake Bell and Kate Bosworth have signed on to co-star in the film which was conceived by Aselton and written by Mark Duplass (Cyrus). The story centers on “three childhood friends who embark on a weekend getaway to the isolated island of Black Rock, only to discover that they are not alone.” While that may sound like your standard thriller, with indie-staple Duplass writing the screenplay you can pretty much bet on it being something wholly original.
As an actress, Aselton has worked on FX’s The League and appears in the upcoming Paul Rudd indie comedy Our Idiot Brother. Submarine is handling U.S. and international sales at Cannes, with a portion of the film’s funding being crowd-sourced through Kickstarter. Hit the jump to read the full press release.

Hugo Weaving and Ben Whishaw Join the Wachowskis’ CLOUD ATLAS, Halle Berry Confirmed to Star

As production nears closer for the big-budget adaptation of Cloud Atlas, the cast is starting to come together. Last month, Tom Hanks was confirmed to star in the adaptation that will be directed by the Wachowski siblings and Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run). Now, THR reports that Hugo Weaving and Ben Whishaw (I’m Not There) have joined the cast. The report also confirms earlier rumors that Halle Berry will indeed appear in the film.
No word on which roles the actors will take on at the moment, but production is set to begin this fall. Warner Bros. is releasing the film in North America and Focus Features International is currently looking for buyers at Cannes. The Wachowskis and Twyker are writing the film as well as directing. 7 Movie Clips and ‘A Look Inside’ Featurette from BRIDESMAIDS

With director Paul Feig’s (Freaks And Geeks)  Bridesmaids opening May 13, Universal has released seven movie clips and A Look Inside featurette.  The film stars Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Matt Lucas, Chris O’Dowd, Melissa McCarthy and Jon Hamm.

While I might still be under embargo, if I wasn’t, I’d probably tell you Bridesmaids is ridiculously funny and one of the best films I’ve seen this year.  I’d also tell you that Bridesmaids has one of the funniest scenes I’ve seen in a theater in a long time.  If you weren’t sold by the trailer or this red band trailer, trust me when I say, Bridesmaids is absolutely worth seeing and I really suggest watching it with a crowded theater.  You’ll love it.  Hit the jump for the clips and featurette, and look for interviews with the cast the week of release.

First Images of STRAW DOGS Starring James Marsden, Kate Bosworth, and Alexander Skarsgård

Screen Gems has released the first images from Straw Dogs, a remake of the 1971 thriller directed by Sam Peckinpah.  James Marsden and Kate Bosworth fill in for Dustin Hoffman and Susan George as the Sumners, “a husband and wife who clash with sadistic small-town Mississippi locals.”  Alexander Skarsgård, Rhys Coiro, James Woods, Laz Alonso, Dominic Purcell, and Walton Goggins also star.

Writer/director Rod Lurie (Nothing But the Truth) recognizes the trickiness in redoing Peckinpah, but the remake doesn’t try to soften the brutal impact of the rape-filled original:

“It’s a fool’s errand to try to outdo Peckinpah on his turf… This is not a soft movie.  People leave this movie saying they need a drink.”

Plot Details and Production Update for Quentin Tarantino’s Spaghetti Western DJANGO UNCHAINED

And so, with last night’s twitpic of the title page of Quentin Tarantino’s latest script, we’re off.  The spaghetti western is indeed titled Django Unchained.  Franco Nero first spoke about his attachment in February, so the project is surely tied to the character that Nero originated in 1966’s Django.  A source who reportedly read the script sent Shadow and Act a plot synopsis that suggests Nero may be too Italian to play the title role:

“Django is a freed slave, who, under the tutelage of a German bounty hunter (played by Christoph Waltz) becomes a bad-ass bounty hunter himself, and after assisting Waltz in taking down some bad guys for profit, is helped by Waltz in tracking down his slave wife and liberating her from an evil plantation owner.”

So “Unchained” is literal.  That’s great!  Thompson on Hollywood confirmed with agency WME that Waltz is on board; Nero indicated Keith Carradine and Treat Williams will also appear.  Hit the jump for more production details.

Lee Pace and Dean O’Gorman Join Peter Jackson’s THE HOBBIT

Director Peter Jackson announced two new additions to the cast of The Hobbit. Lee Pace (Pushing Daises) is set to star as the Elven King Thranduil. In The Lord of the Rings mythology, Thrandull is the father of Legolas and plays a supporting role in The Hobbit. Additionally, Kiwi actor Dean O’Gorman will be playing Fili, a dwarf and one of the twelve companions of Bilbo. Posting the news on his Facebook page, here’s what Jackson had to say about the casting of Pace:

“Casting these Tolkien stories is very difficult, especially the Elven characters, and Lee has always been our first choice for Thranduil. He’s going to be great.  We loved his performance in a movie called The Fall a few years ago, and have been hoping to work with him since.  When we were first discussing who would be right for Thranduil, Lee came into mind almost immediately.”

While I’m not familiar with O’Gorman, the addition of Pace to the cast is great news. He turned in some fantastic work in Bryan Fuller’s criminally underrated TV series Pushing Daisies, and his involvement is certainly exciting. The Hobbit will be broken into two parts.  Part 1 is set for December 2012 and Part 2 will come out in December 2013.  Hit the jump for a synopsis of the book.

Set Photos from THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN; Oscorp Confirmed to Appear in the Film

Following the barrage of set photos that appeared to hit weekly earlier this year, it seemed like all was quiet on the amateur photography front for The Amazing Spider-Man. Well, now photos giving us our first look at Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker in glasses (smart!), as well as capturing the rehearsal for what looks to be a big stunt piece in the film have surfaced.

If that wasn’t enough, it’s been confirmed that Oscorp, the company run by Norman Osborn (the Green Goblin), will appear in the film. Apparently scenes were being filmed in an “Oscorp” building, complete with employees wearing Oscorp badges and such. Production Begins on BIG SUR Starring Josh Lucas, Kate Bosworth and Jean-Marc Barr

Filming has commenced on director Michael Polish’s (The Astronaut Farmer) adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s Big Sur. The film stars Jean-Marc Barr as Kerouac, Josh Lucas as Neal Cassidy, and Kate Bosworth as Billie, the love interest of both men. Deadline reports that production just recently began on the film, which tells the story of Kerouac’s move from New York City to Northern California.

Polish wrote and is directing the film, which features a supporting cast that includes Anthony Edwards, Rahda Mitchell, Balthazar Getty, Patrick Fischler, Tana Katic, John Robinson and Henry Thomas. This marks the second Kerouac adaptation in a year, as Walter Salles recently filmed an adaptation of On The Road. VAMPIRE DIARIES Star Nina Dobrev Lands Role in THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER

Actress Nina Dobrev, star of The CW’s The Vampire Diaries, has landed a role in Stephen Chbosky’s adaptation of his novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The cast now includes Emma Watson, Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson series), and Mae Whitman (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World). Deadline reports that Dobrev will play Candace in the coming of age story “about 15-year-old Charlie (Lerman), an endearing and naive outsider, coping with first love (Watson), the suicide of his best friend, and his own mental illness while struggling to find a group of people with whom he belongs.” Summit Entertainment is distributing the film.

The report also mentions Paul Rudd as being a part of the cast, though doesn’t specify which role he will play. Whitman is poised to take on the role of Mary Elizabeth, a tattooed vegetarian who acts as the protagonist’s first girlfriend. Paramount Picks Up Anna Faris Stalker Comedy

Paramount has picked up a comedy pitch from Anna Faris, centering on a troublesome roommate. The actress developed the pitch after recounting a real-life incident that happened to her. No plot details are known at this time, but THR reports that the story revolves around Faris and a new roommate who turns out to be “the stalker from hell.” I’m hoping that’s a literal description, because demonic roommates are always funny.

The pitch was further developed by screenwriter Deanna Kizis (Camp Rules for Montecito) who will now write the script. Joe Roth and Palak Patel are producing through Roth films, while Faris will star in and executive produce the comedy. The actress will next be seen in the comedy What’s Your Number? alongside Joel McHale, Chris Evans, Zachary Quinto, and Matt Bomer.

Ryan Gosling in Talks to Star in THE LONE RANGER Opposite Johnny Depp

Ryan Gosling is currently in talks to star in Disney’s The Lone Ranger alongside Johnny Depp. The actor would be taking on the title role, with Depp having been set to play Tonto for quite some time now. Gore Verbinski (the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies) is set to direct the film, with Jerry Bruckheimer producing. The Wrap reports that Gosling is in talks to star in the film, but his schedule may not allow him to take the role given that The Lone Ranger is poised to start shooting this fall.

Depp had previously mentioned George Clooney and Brad Pitt as possible actors to star with him in the film, but I quite like the choice of Gosling. He and Depp are both versatile guys, and if Gosling ends up with the role it’ll be fun to see the two play off each other in a fun adventure flick. Verbinski previously described the Justin Haythe-scripted story as Don Quixote-esque, with Depp’s Tonto serving as the unreliable narrator for the film. Now that Len Wiseman’s remake of Total Recall has Colin Farrell in the role originally played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1990 Paul Verhoeven film, the film is casting for the lead female roles. For those who haven’t seen the original film, the two lead female roles are Douglas Quaid’s (Farrell) wife Lori (played in the original film by Sharon Stone) and the other is Martian freedom fighter Melina (originally played by Rachel Ticotin).


Deadline reports that Diane Kruger and Kate Bosworth have read for the role of Lori; Paula Patton, Jessica Biel, and Eva Green have read for Melina, and Eva Mendes has read for both roles. Hit the jump for my thoughts on the casting. Total Recall is set to open on August 3, 2012.

Exclusive: Uma Thurman Talks BEL AMI

Almost a year ago we posted the first images from Bel Ami. However, since that time, news on the Robert Pattinson film has been rather quiet.


A brief refresher: slated for a 2011 release, Bel Ami follows Georges Duroy (Pattinson), a nineteenth-century French journalist who ascends Paris’ social ladder through a number of manipulative trists with talented and influential women. The film is based on Guy De Maupassant’s celebrated 1885 novel and will be helmed by noted theatre directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod. Uma Thurman and Kristen Scott Thomas co-star and, to the envy of Twifans the world over, be thoroughly taken advantage of by Pattinson. Thurman will play Duroy’s central paramour and ladder rung, Madeleine Forestier, while Thomas will play a socialite who is seduced by the suave, power-hungry protagonist.

David O. Russell May Write Sequel to THE FIGHTER

Over the past few weeks, Mark Wahlberg has been openly mulling a sequel to The Fighter. Wahlberg, who produced the flick in addition to starring as boxer Micky Ward, has said that the sequel would focus on the trilogy of fights between Ward and Arturo Gatti. He also says that everyone, including Oscar-winners Christian Bale and Melissa Leo, had such a great time that he couldn’t imagine them not wanting to return. However, a larger question mark was whether or not director David O. Russell would be willing to get behind the camera.


MTV caught up with O. Russell and learned that he would be willing to not only direct, but also write the script this time around. Says O. Russell:


“I think Micky’s story has a lot of heart whichever way you cut it. You’d go towards the Gatti fights and you could go into the history of the family more. I really like the sisters.”

Casting Call: Chris “Ludacris” Bridges Joins NEW YEAR’S EVE; Alan Rickman and Tom Courtenay Join GAMBIT Remake

We have some quick casting stories for you this afternoon. First up, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges has joined Garry Marshall’s upcoming romantic comedy New Year’s Eve. The ever-expanding cast already includes (deep breath) Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Halle Berry, Jessical Biel, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sarah Jessica Parker, Hilary Swank, Zac Efron, Sienna Miller, Lea Michelle, Sofia Vergara, Abigail Breslin, Til Schweiger, Seth Meyes, Jon Bon Jovi, Josh Duhamel, and Carla Gugino. So where does Bridges fit into this collection of actors getting paid for what probably amounts to a few days work in under-developed storylines about people falling in and out of love on New Year’s Eve? According to THR, Bridges will play “a NYPD cop who is working with the director of the Times Square festivities (Swank).”

Jennifer Aniston Premieres 'Just Go With It' in Madrid

Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler hit the premiere of their film, Just Go With It, on Tuesday (February 22) at Room Mate Oscar Hotel in Madrid, Spain.
Earlier in the day, the two stepped out for the film’s photocall and also stopped by the Spanish TV show El Hormiguero.
Also attending the premiere: co-star Brooklyn Decker who looked picture perfect in a strapless Dolce & Gabbana dress with Brian Atwood shoes.
Earlier this week, the trio kicked off their European press tour for Just Go With It in Berlin.

Halle Berry: Costume Designers Guild Awards Honoree!

Halle Berry is red hot in Elie Saab Haute Couture at the 13th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards on Tuesday (February 22) at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Samuel L. Jackson presented the Lacoste Spotlight Award to the 44-year-old actress, telling the audience, “My dear friend and colleague. Don’t you love her name? It’s like a stanza of music.”
After dropping out of the upcoming romantic comedy New Year’s Eve, Halle has rejoined the cast, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
A judge in her custody battle with Gabriel Aubry is allowing her to travel with her daughter Nahla to NYC to shoot the flick.
Halle, who was replaced by Katherine Heigl, will now play a different role in the flick.

Jennifer Aniston: Ashton Kutcher Once Tried to Ask Me Out!

Jennifer Aniston makes an appearance on TV show El Hormiguero on Tuesday (February 22) in Madrid, Spain.

The 42-year-old actress, who sported glasses with her new shorter hairdo, promoted her movie, Just Go With It, with co-star Adam Sandler.

Earlier in the day, the two attended the film’s photocall with castmate Brooklyn Decker.

Ashton Kutcher recently revealed he made a bet in high school with a friend that one day he’d go on a date with Jen.

He eventually did meet her while she was married to Brad Pitt and “I asked permission to ask his wife out,” Ashton said on The Graham Norton Show.

“[Brad] looked at me and he’s like, ‘You go for it!’ So I asked her and she turned me down,” he shared. “But now we’re friends.”

Alyssa Milano: Expecting a Baby!

Alyssa Milano and her husband, Dave Bugliari, are expecting a baby, her reps confirm to JustJared.com.

The 38-year-old actress made the happy announcement on her Twitter earlier today. “Yes, it’s true. And we couldn’t be happier. Thank you for your warm wishes and love!” she tweeted.

The couple will become parents early this fall, People reports.

Dave, 32, is a talent agent at Creative Artists Agency!

This is the first child for both Dave and Alyssa, who will hit the big screen in Hall Pass later this month.
