Steve is currently wandering around CinemaCon and in addition to snapping photos of promoposters, he also picked up some images from the upcoming films Drive and Lock-Out. For those unfamiliar with the flicks, Drive is directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson) and centers on a stunt driver (Ryan Gosling) who moonlights as a wheelman for mobsters. When he agrees to help the husband of his beautiful neighbor (Carey Mulligan), matters go awry and he must protect the neighbor and her son. The film has an incredible cast that also includes Christina Hendricks, Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, Oscar Isaac, and Albert Brooks.
As for Lock-Out, Guy Pearce talked to Steve about the film and said that the sci-fi action-adventure is “a rescue story, it’s set slightly in the future,” and his character must go on a mission to save the President’s daughter from an orbiting prison. The film is produced by Luc Besson and also stars Maggie Grace and Peter Stormare.
Hit the jump to check out the images. Drive is set to open on September 16th while Lock-Out is due on February 24, 2012.
THE DEAD CIRCUS to Start Filming This Summer with James Marsden, Melissa Leo, Michael Shannon and Michael C. Hall Set to Star
by Adam ChitwoodPosted: March 29th, 2011
The film adaptation of John Kaye’s novel The Dead Circus is about to get rolling, with producers eyeing a summer start date. The film stars James Marsden, Melissa Leo, Michael Shannon and Michael C. Hall and tells a fictious story based on the non-ficticious death of singer Bobby Fuller. Written by Adam Davenport and John Kaye, the film is set to mark the directorial debut of Davenport. Deadline reports that Palermo pictures wants to shoot the flick this summer.
Marsden is set to play Charles Manson, with Leo playing a Manson Family matriarch who comes out of hiding to give a few hints to a screenwriter trying to solve Fuller’s mysterious death (ruled a suicide, even though the singer was battered and had gasoline poured down his throat). Shannon and Hall will play Fuller’s managers. Hit the jump for a synopsis of the novel. .......... http://collider.com/the-dead-circus-james-marsden-melissa-leo/83120/
Bill Murray To Play Franklin Roosevelt In Hyde Park On the Hudson
published: 2011-03-29 21:43:39 Author: Eric Eisenberg When you think of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, what do you think of? His structuring of the New Deal to help our country out the Great Depression? His fireside chats, used to put the entire country at ease? His negotiations with Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin to help end World War II? How about the time that he blew up a golf course to try and kill a gopher? Oh, wait. That was Bill Murray in Caddyshack. I guess I got confused because Murray's going to be playing the 32nd president in a new film.
Vulture reports that Murray has signed on to play FDR in Hyde Park On the Hudson, an adaptation of a British radio play. Directed by Roger Michell, the film is set in 1939 when the King and Queen came to America - the first time a reigning monarch had ever done so - but the focus will be on the affair between the president and his distant cousin, Margaret Stuckley. Adapted by Richard Nelson, who also wrote the play, the film will go into production this July.
The article believes that this film will have "Murray in serious-actor mode," but I really hope it's not. There's a lot of humor that can be found in this situation and if played to the right pitch could be brilliant. It's also worth noting that the King at the time was George VI, so how about having Colin Firth come back and reprise his Oscar winning performance? Could be fantastic. http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Bill-Murray-To-Play-Franklin-Roosevelt-In-Hyde-Park-On-the-Hudson-23944.html
Nicolas Cage is starring in yet another action film, and it looks like Malin Akerman will be along for the ride. Akerman is in negotiations to take on the female lead in Medallion, from director Simon West (When a Stranger Calls). The Taken-esque story centers on “a former master thief (Cage), who has only a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York medallion taxi cab.” Heat Vision reports that Akerman will star as Cage’s former girlfriend/bankrobber who, of course, teams up with Cage to help him find his daughter. David Guggenheim (Safe House) wrote the script, while McG is producing, sigh. West and Cage previously teamed up for the fantastically ridiculous Con Air, and one can only hope that working together on this project will get the ball rolling on that Con Air sequel that West wants to do. Akerman recently replaced Lindsay Lohan in the Linda Lovelace biopic Inferno. ..... read more; http://collider.com/malin-akerman-medallion/78392/
Several new images of Andrew Garfield on the set of Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man have popped up online. The images feature the wall-crawler in what looks to be a stand-off situation as well as a half-suited Garfield apparently taking tips on how to point a gun at a grounded opponent. All right, so that is probably a little out of character for Spidey. In any case, you can hit the jump to check out the images.
In addition to Garfield, The Amazing Spider-Man also stars Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, and Denis Leary. The filmhits 3D theaters on July 3, 2012.
Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), Oscar winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter), and 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan have reportedly signed on to star in the indie comedy Predisposed. According to Vulture, the trio will play a Julliard-hopeful, his drug-addicted mother, and said mother’s drug dealer, Sprinkles, respectively. Predisposed will be directed by Oscar nominated scribe/co-writer Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia) with Philip Dorling sharing co-writing credit as well. Briefly, the comedy will center on the dysfunctional relationship between Eisenberg and Leo’s mother and son pair. The story is set on a day in which the son is interviewing for Julliard while his mother is busy feuding with her drug-dealer/checking herself into rehab while intoxicated so as to overcome her lack of health insurance.
Leo should be well prepared for her role as Eisenberg’s junkie mom as she made the same turn when Predisposed screened at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival as a short directed by the aforementioned Philip Dorling. Shooting on this promising feature length version of Predisposed is set to begin this summer.
