Emma Roberts flashes a smile on the cover of Seventeen’s May issue.
Here’s what the 20-year-old Scream 4 star had to share with the mag:
On turning 20: “[It] made me realize that I want to be young and have fun. When I was 16, I was very frustrated all the time. I felt like nobody understood me. School was stressful, working was stressful, and it’s a really tough time for girls to be friends. I felt like I was always in a rush to get somewhere, when I had no idea where that was. Now I just feel content, and I feel like that’s a nice place to be. I’ve learned that I want to have great people in my life and lots of love in my life, and just enjoy it. I wish I had realized that sooner.”
On if she ever went through a stage where she tried to dress sexy: “Sexy when I was younger always meant boobs, and I’ve never had boobs in my life - so I always felt that sexy was out of the question for me. I used to really want to be that kind of voluptuous girl, and I’ve just kid of embraced that I’m not.”

Anthony Hopkins to Play 'Bond 23' Villain?
.By Andrew Scott (Subscribe to Andrew Scott's posts)
Posted Mar 9th 2011 12:45PM
In what may go down as one of the best James Bond casting moves ever, Oscar-winning actor Anthony Hopkins is reportedly up for the villain role in the as-yet-untitled 'Bond 23.'

The report comes from The Sun (insert grain of salt here), which quotes a source as saying, "The only stumbling block seems to be the number of films he is signing up for. There is a chance the character they want him to play could become a regular feature, like Blofeld back in the day." No other information about the character was given.

Whether or not the report is actually true, the idea of Hopkins playing a villain in a Bond movie (or any villain, really) is enough to get us excited. He knows how to make even the biggest of baddies charming (hello, 'Silence of the Lambs') and would be a perfect match for Daniel Craig's tough-guy persona.

In the meantime, what does that mean for Javier Bardem, who was also rumored to play a villain in the movie? We don't know.

Either way, we're just happy to see that 'Bond 23,' which has long been plagued by setbacks due to MGM's financial woes, is continuing to move forward.

The movie, which will be directed by Sam Mendes ('American Beauty'), will also see the return of Judi Dench as Bond's no-nonsense boss, M, and is currently pegged for a Nov. 9, 2012, release.

Sylvester Stallone Won't Direct 'Expendables' Sequel -- Who Should Take His Place?
.By Jacob Hall (Subscribe to Jacob Hall's posts)
Posted Mar 9th 2011 11:20AM
Last year, 'The Expendables' grossed $274 million worldwide, proving that there was still a place in the world for aging action movie stars and their modern macho brethren. Not bad at all for an independently produced action movie starring a cast not exactly known for lighting the box office aflame.

Director/star Sylvester Stallone has been talking almost nonstop about a sequel, already saying he wants to bring back Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who had cameos in the first film (with Willis most likely being the big baddie our team of mercenaries goes up against in their next adventure). There's been no official word on whether or not Jason Statham, Jet Li and the rest of the cast will return, but it's hard to imagine them turning a sequel down.

However, the L.A. Times reports that although Stallone will star in the eventual 'Expendables 2,' he will be handing directorial duties over to someone else. While Stallone trucks around Hollywood, taking meetings with interested parties, it is our duty as film fans to throw some potential names into the air and see if they stick.

McConaughey to Star in The Dallas Buyers Club
Source: 24 Frames March 10, 2011

Matthew McConaughy, who can next be seen in The Lincoln Lawyer, will star in the long-gestating The Dallas Buyers Club.

24 Frames reports that Jean-Marc Vallée (The Young Victoria) will direct the drama.

"It's not exactly the movie that studios are throwing money at these days," McConaughey said about the film which is no longer at Universal Pictures.

The Dallas Buyers Club is the true story of Ron Woodroof, a tough Texas electrician who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986 and given six months to live. Frustrated with the lack of available medical options and unwilling to accept a death sentence, Woodroof found a lifeline using alternative drugs and created a lucrative smuggling business that made those drugs available to AIDS patients. He died in 1992.

Kristin Kreuk Joins Ronald D. Moore's 17th Precinct
Ronald D. Moore's upcoming Sci-Fi project, 17th Precinct is shaping up. On the heels of the news which recently announced that Moore would be reuniting Battlestar Galactica alumni Tricia Helfer and James Callis, comes today's announcement that Kristin Kreuk (of Smallville fame) will be joining the cast.

Kristin Kreuk will guest-star in the pilot as Susan Longstreet, the wife of Jamie Bamber's crime scene expert. Should the NBC pick up the series, the role has the potential to go recurring.

Set in the fictional town of Excelsior, where magic and supernatural elements rule over science, 17th Precinct revolves around the lawmen at the local cop shop. James Callis is playing a homicide detective and Tricia Helfer is Morgana, the necromancer (the magical equivalent of a coroner).

Matthew McConaughey Set for The Dallas Buyers Club
Matthew McConaughey has signed on to star in The Dallas Buyers Club, with Jean-Marc Vallée attached to direct.
The true story, set in the 1980s about a trafficker in illegal AIDS drugs, has attracted a long list of A-list actors and directors, including Brad Pitt, director Marc Forster, Ryan Gosling and director Craig Gillespie.

Once at Universal, the film is now an indie:

"It's not exactly the movie that studios are throwing money at these days," Matthew McConaughey said.

"It's a great script and a great story," he said. "And I think it can be a great movie."

The movie tells about Ron Woodroof, a heterosexual Dallas electrician who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986, during some of the darkest days of the disease. Doctors gave him just a few months to live, but he refused to accept their prognosis.

Instead, Ron Woodroof created a smuggling operation for alternative treatments, which were then illegal, and tried to get them into the hands of as many AIDS patients as possible. He wound up living six more years and saved or prolonged the lives of many others.

No production date has been set.

The Dallas Buyers Club is in development and stars Matthew McConaughey. The film is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée.

Anthony Hopkins Interview THE RITE; Plus Updates on THOR, 360, Composing Music, Painting, and a lot More

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted: January 26th, 2011

Opening next weekend is director Mikael Hafstroem’s (1408) supernatural thriller The Rite and it stars Anthony Hopkins, Colin O’Donoghue, Alice Braga, Ciaran Hinds, and Toby Jones. “Inspired by true events, The Rite follows skeptical seminary student Michael Kovak (O’Donoghue), who reluctantly attends exorcism school at the Vatican. While in Rome, he meets an unorthodox priest, Father Lucas (Hopkins), who introduces him to the darker side of his faith.”  For more on the film, watch some clips here.
I recently got to participate in a roundtable interview with Hopkins.  During the extended interview, Hopkins talked about what drew him to this project, how does he work with directors as most could be intimidated, how is he so good at scaring people, upcoming projects like Thor and 360, and he also talked about painting, composing music, and so much more.  Hit the jump to read or listen to what he had to say:

Will Smith and Jay-Z Team-Up for ANNIE Remake

by Jason Barr    Posted: January 26th, 2011

It’s official: the Will Smith/Jay-Z Annie remake is going into production.  One week ago, we reported that the pair were in talks to revamp the classic property as a starring vehicle for Smith’s daughter Willow.  At that time, however, it was believed that Jay-Z’s contribution would be confined to the film’s music.  The press release we received today, though, confirms that the self-proclaimed “best rapper alive” will team-up with Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment as a co-producer on the project.  In addition to Overbrook and Jay-Z’s (a.k.a. Shawn Carter) involvement, Sony Pictures Entertainment will help develop the Annie remake.

Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS Moves to June 8, 2012; Scott Brothers Set to Produce THE DRIVERS

by Jason Barr    Posted: January 26th, 2011

20th Century Fox has changed the release date for Ridley Scott’s original sci-fi film Prometheus.  Heat Vision confirms that the project, originally slated for a March 9th release, will now hit theaters on June 8th, 2012.  Although details regarding the film are currently sparse, we do know that Damon Lindelof (LostCowboys & Aliens) is currently re-working the script with Scott and that Noomi Rapace is set to star in the summer tentpole.
For the sake of context, it’s important to mention that news of Prometheus release date change comes not far removed from Disney’s announcement that its John Carter of Mars adaptation is now set for a March 9th release.  As for Scott, in addition to Prometheus, it was reported earlier today that he and brother Tony are using their Scott Free moniker to produce a 1960s period television series entitled The Drivers.  For more on that project, hit the jump.

***Anthony Hopkins in Talks to Play Alfred Hitchcock ***New Images from RED RIDING HOOD ***Rebecca Hall Will LAY THE FAVORITE for Director Stephen Frears

Anthony Hopkins in Talks to Play Alfred Hitchcock

by Jason Barr    Posted: January 21st, 2011

Sir Anthony Hopkins may soon make a turn as the Master of Suspense, Sir Alfred Hitchcock.  The Oscar-winner is currently in negotiations with Ivan Reitman’s Montecito Pictures to star in the film adaptation of Stephen Rebello’s book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho.  Momentum on the film is certainly gaining as, only two days ago, we reported that Anvil! The Story of Anvil director Sacha Gervasi was in talks to direct the pic and rewrite John McLaughlin’s (Black Swan) script.
This is not Hopkins’ first time courting the role, as Heat Vision points out, that the actor was attached to a previous iteration of the project with Ryan Murphy directing and Helen Mirren starring opposite Hopkins.  To learn more about the potential project, hit the jump for an overview of Rebello’s book/the film’s source material.

The Town star Rebecca Hall has been tapped to take on the lead role in director Stephen Frears’ (The Queen) adaptation of Beth Raymor’s memoir Lay the Favorite: A Memoir of Gambling.  The book chronicles Raymor’s time spent mingling in the world of Vegas sports gambling. Frears directs from a script by D.V. De Vincentis, with whom he collaborated on High Fidelity and Grosse Pointe Blank. The Wrap reports that Focus Features will produce. Hall most recently starred in the indie film Everything Must Go with Will Ferrell. Hit the jump to read a synopsis of Raymor’s memoir.
Here’s the synopsis for Lay the Favorite: A Memoir of Gambling:
It’s hard not to like the breezy, ingenuous voice of this plucky protagonist who proves she’s game for any kind of new experience. Hailing from Ohio, Raymer eventually made her way to Las Vegas when she was 24 and found a lucrative position assisting a Queens-born, Stuyvesant High School-educated gambling operator, Dink Heimowitz. The lovable, irascible, big-bellied Dinky had shucked life as a bookmaker back in New York, having run into trouble, for professional sports gambling; he put Raymer and the other motley staff on the phones setting up bets for all kinds of sports matchups (baseball, football, horse racing, hockey) in order to find a line that gave him an edge. Dinky referred Raymer to a high-flying bookie on Long Island, Bernard Rose, who had his own offshore network. As girl Friday Raymer fetched doughnuts, placed calls, and acted as a runner, making wads of dough, but mostly Raymer cherished working among the assortment of gambling types, the low-end hustlers and misfits she chronicles with evident tenderness. New Trailer for THE RITE Starring Anthony Hopkins

by Brendan Bettinger    Posted: December 9th, 2010

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for The Rite, a supernatural thriller purported to be inspired by true events.  As scripted by Michael Petroni (Possession), The Rite tells the story of a seminary student attending “exorcism school” at the Vatican: “While in Rome, he meets an unorthodox priest who introduces him to the darker side of his faith.”
Anthony Hopkins, Colin O’Donoghue, Alice Braga, Ciaran Hinds, and Toby Jones star in The Rite, directed by Mikael Håfström (1408).  Hit the jump for the trailer and synopsis.
I think it’s a bit unfortunate that so many of the films that are explicitly about religion use it for the purpose of horror.  That said, Hopkins is a great get, and it looks like he has plenty of scenery to chew.  If this is your type of flick, I pray The Rite brings you abundant joy when it opens on January 28, 2011.

THE HANGOVER PART II, THE IDES OF MARCH, CONTRABAND, THE DOOR, CITY OF BONES, and SO UNDERCOVER Fill Out Casts

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: December 9th, 2010

With production in Hollywood getting ready to shut down for the holidays, agents all over town are scrambling to finalize last-minute deals for their clients. Hence, tons of casting news was released today.
Max Minghella, who played Divya (the Winklevoss twins’ third partner) in The Social Network, is set to star as Ben Harper in George Clooney’s The Ides of March. Clooney wrote, will direct, and stars in the political drama alongside Ryan Gosling, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood.
Hit the jump for many more casting announcements for The Door, The Hangover Part II, City of Bones, Contraband, and So Undercover.
Deadline reports Alison Eastwood (yes, Clint’s daughter) and Dallas Roberts (3:10 to Yuma) will star in the psychological thriller The Door. Directed by Matthew Arnold, the film centers on a radio talk show host (Roberts), who gets drawn into exploring paranormal activity and crosses paths with Eastwood’s character, who is sent by the Center for Disease Control to investigate a possible virus.
Comedian Bryan Callen, who played the owner of the wedding chapel in The Hangover, has joined the cast of the currently-filming The Hangover Part II as a strip club owner.  Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, and Justin Bartha return for the sequel, set in Thailand.
Lily Collins (The Blind Side) is set to star in City of Bones, an adaptation of the first installment in the book series, Mortal Instruments. The film is directed by Scott Charles. Collins has been busy, as she has Priest with Paul Bettany, and Abduction with Taylor Lautner coming out next year.
Actor Caleb Landry Jones (The Last Exorcism) has joined the cast of Mark Wahlberg’s Contraband. He joins Kate Beckinsale, Ben Foster, and Giovanni Ribisi in the flick, and will play the brother-in-law of a retired smuggler (Wahlberg) who is forced to do one more job after a screw-up. Jones is currently filming his role as Banshee in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class.
British actor Joshua Bowman joins the cast of Miley Cyrus’ latest movie (sigh). The film is called So Undercover, and Bowman plays Cryus’ love interest, who I can only assume shows her how the differences between Brits and “country girls” make for some great comedy and heartfelt moments.
