Directed by Jean Marc Vallee (The Young Victoria), the film s based on the true story of Ron Woodroof, a heterosexual man who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986. Mos Def Joins Season Six of DEXTER
by Ethan Anderton Posted: May 11th, 2011 at 3:20 pm
We just recently learned that Colin Hanks would have a major character arc appearing in all 12 episodes on the forthcoming sixth season of Showtime’s serial killer drama series Dexter, and now another name has surfaced for a major role. THR reports rapper turned actor Mos Def (Be Kind Rewind) will also have a multi-episode arc on the hit series. Production will begin in June with Mos Def playing a hardened ex-con who claims to have found religion yet seems to continually find himself surrounded by violence. Apparently Dexter will actually reveal the truth behind who this man really is behind the front. Meanwhile, the report also reveals Hanks’ character will be a man name Travis, the main nemesis of the sixth season and a highly intelligent ancient artifacts expert who is linked to a series of grisly murders in Miami. Sound good?
Josh Hutcherson to Star in Benecio Del Toro-Directed Short MONDAYby Jason Barr Posted: March 10th, 2011
Josh Hutcherson (The Kids Are All Right) will star in Benecio Del Toro’s directorial debut, the short, fictionalized documentary Monday. The film will make up a segment of the omnibus feature 7 Days in Havana and, according to Deadline, will tell the story of a tourist (Hutcherson) who is taking in the city’s culture for the first time. Per the report, other segments within the omnibus (which I’m assuming will be similarly titled by days of the week) will feature recurring characters in the name of making 7 Days in Havana a cohesive whole.
Other directors contributing segments to 7 Days in Havana include Laurent Cantet, Julio Medem, Gaspar Noe, Elia Suleiman, Juan Carlos Tabio, and Pablo Trapero. Casting across the other segments includes work from Cuban actors such as Ana de Armas, Vladimir Cruz, Mirta Ibarra, Jorge Perugorria. As for Hutcherson, he recently finished up production on the follow up to 2008’s Journey to the Center of the Earth, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. That film is due out later this year on September 23.....read more; http://collider.com/josh-hutcherson-benecio-del-toro-monday/79925/
Keira Knightley to Voice Tinker Bell in NEVERLANDby Matt Goldberg Posted: March 10th, 2011Keira Knightley will provide the voice of Tinker Bell in Sky Movies HD and Syfy’s Live-Action Peter Pan prequel, Neverland. Knightley joins Rhys Ifans, Anna Friel, Bob Hoskins, Charles Dance, and Charlie Rowe in the two-part movie, which is scheduled to air this summer. The prequel re-imagines Peter Pan and his Lost Boys as a group of pickpockets who are transported to Neverland by a magical orb. It’s the second Peter Pan prequel we’ve heard of in recent weeks, joining Pan, which will star Channing Tatum and was picked up by Sony Pictures.
Hit the jump for the full press release. Knightley will be seen later this year in the dramas Last Night and A Dangerous Method. She’s also circling roles in David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis and Joe Wright’s adaptation of Anna Karenina............ read more;http://collider.com/keira-knightley-neverland/79870/
Matthew McConaughey to Star in THE DALLAS BUYER’S CLUBby Matt Goldberg Posted: March 10th, 2011Matthew McConaughey has signed on to star in the drama The Dallas Buyer’s Club. 24 Frames reports that Jean Marc Vallee (The Young Victoria) will direct the film, which is based on the true story of Ron Woodroof, a heterosexual man who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986. Given only a few months to live, Woodroof began to smuggle alternative and illegal treatments into the US and into the hands of other AIDS patients. Trent Reznor NOT Scoring or Acting in ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTERby Adam Chitwood Posted: March 10th, 2011After his fantastic (and Oscar-winning) stab at feature film composing with The Social Network, it’s understandable that Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has been fielding a few offers to score more feature films. He’s currently working on David Fincher’s next film, the American adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and was recently rumored to be scoring and possibly acting in Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
Well, now it turns out that Reznor won’t be scoring the Civil War-set vampire flick after all. He explains on the official NIN message boards (via Cinema Blend) that when news broke that he’d be working on the score for the film, he still hadn’t made up his mind as to whether or not he’d be taking the job. No word on why he turned it down, but he states that there’s “no juicy story here,” so presumably he just decided he’d rather focus his talents elsewhere for the time-being. Josh Zetumer to Pen ROBOCOP Remakeby Jason Barr Posted: March 10th, 2011
A little over a week ago we let you know that Jose Padilha (Elite Squad) was in talks to helm MGM’s remake of Paul Verhoeven’s RoboCop. Tonight, we can bring you confirmation not only that Padilha is on board, but also that the studio has hired Josh Zetumer to script the remake. Per Deadline, the studio expects Zetumer and Padilha to work together closely in developing the film which will undoubtedly be under close scrutiny from the word “go” by people such as myself who believe the 1987 original to be a sci-fi classic.
While Zetumer currently lacks a completed name project on his resume, the scribe’s spy-thriller Infiltrator is a “Black List” alum and is currently set up at Warner Bros. with Leonardo DiCaprio attached to star. Moreover, he also penned a draft of the currently defunct fourth installment in The Bourne Identity franchise. Perhaps most importantly, Zetumer has experience writing remakes as he scripted a draft of Dune back when Peter Berg was attached to direct the remake of David Lynch’s 1984 film at Paramount........... http://collider.com/josh-zetumer-robocop-remake/79991/
Anthony Hopkins to Play 'Bond 23' Villain?.By Andrew Scott (Subscribe to Andrew Scott's posts)Posted Mar 9th 2011 12:45PMIn what may go down as one of the best James Bond casting moves ever, Oscar-winning actor Anthony Hopkins is reportedly up for the villain role in the as-yet-untitled 'Bond 23.'
The report comes from The Sun (insert grain of salt here), which quotes a source as saying, "The only stumbling block seems to be the number of films he is signing up for. There is a chance the character they want him to play could become a regular feature, like Blofeld back in the day." No other information about the character was given.
Whether or not the report is actually true, the idea of Hopkins playing a villain in a Bond movie (or any villain, really) is enough to get us excited. He knows how to make even the biggest of baddies charming (hello, 'Silence of the Lambs') and would be a perfect match for Daniel Craig's tough-guy persona.
In the meantime, what does that mean for Javier Bardem, who was also rumored to play a villain in the movie? We don't know.
Either way, we're just happy to see that 'Bond 23,' which has long been plagued by setbacks due to MGM's financial woes, is continuing to move forward.
The movie, which will be directed by Sam Mendes ('American Beauty'), will also see the return of Judi Dench as Bond's no-nonsense boss, M, and is currently pegged for a Nov. 9, 2012, release..........http://blog.moviefone.com/2011/03/09/anthony-hopkins-bond-23/
Sylvester Stallone Won't Direct 'Expendables' Sequel -- Who Should Take His Place?.By Jacob Hall (Subscribe to Jacob Hall's posts)Posted Mar 9th 2011 11:20AMLast year, 'The Expendables' grossed $274 million worldwide, proving that there was still a place in the world for aging action movie stars and their modern macho brethren. Not bad at all for an independently produced action movie starring a cast not exactly known for lighting the box office aflame.
Director/star Sylvester Stallone has been talking almost nonstop about a sequel, already saying he wants to bring back Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who had cameos in the first film (with Willis most likely being the big baddie our team of mercenaries goes up against in their next adventure). There's been no official word on whether or not Jason Statham, Jet Li and the rest of the cast will return, but it's hard to imagine them turning a sequel down.
However, the L.A. Times reports that although Stallone will star in the eventual 'Expendables 2,' he will be handing directorial duties over to someone else. While Stallone trucks around Hollywood, taking meetings with interested parties, it is our duty as film fans to throw some potential names into the air and see if they stick...........read more;http://blog.moviefone.com/2011/03/09/sylvester-stallone-expendables-sequel/
