Megan Fox Joins Sacha Baron Cohen's 'Dictator'
Sacha Baron Cohen rides a camel while filming his upcoming comedy, The Dictator, on Sunday (June 19) in New York City.
The 39-year-old funnyman takes on two roles - a goat herder and a deposed foreign ruler - in the film, which centers around “the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.”
Megan Fox will also be making a cameo in the film, along with John C. Reilly, THR reports.
Their roles are reportedly being kept under wraps but the two will join a cast that already includes Anna Faris and Ben Kingsley. http://justjared.buzznet.com/2011/06/21/megan-fox-sacha-baron-cohen-dictator/

Trailer for David Cronenberg’s A DANGEROUS METHOD

by Adam Chitwood   Posted: June 21st, 2011

The first trailer for director David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method has been released, and it’s fantastic. Based on Christopher Hampton’s 2002 play The Talking Cure, the film centers on the relationship between Carl Jung (played by Michael Fassbender), his mentor Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen), and Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley), the woman who came between them. The trailer is intense, showcasing what are sure to be some powerhouse performances, as well as a score by Howard Shore. Oh, and there’s sex. Lots of sex. This is Cronenberg after all. Sony Pictures Classics is set to release the film, hopefully sometime this year. Hit the jump to watch the trailer for yourself. http://collider.com/a-dangerous-method-movie-trailer/97866/

"Footloose" Trailer Arrives Online

Posted: June 22nd, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Paramount Pictures has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming "Footloose" remake, starring Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough and Dennis Quaid. Check it out below.

Plot: Ren MacCormack (Wormald) is transplanted from Boston to the small southern town of Bomont where he experiences a heavy dose of culture shock. A few years prior, the community was rocked by a tragic accident that killed five teenagers after a night out and Bomont's local councilmen and the beloved Reverend Shaw Moore (Quaid) responded by implementing ordinances that prohibit loud music and dancing. Not one to bow to the status quo, Ren challenges the ban, revitalizing the town and falling in love with the minister's troubled daughter Ariel (Hough) in the process.

The new movie is directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle and Flow, Black Snake Moan) and is set to hit theaters on October 14th.

James Cameron on "Avatar" Sequels

Posted: June 21st, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Fox News caught up with James Cameron and spoke about the upcoming two "Avatar" sequels, which the director will shoot back-to-back and release them in theaters in December of 2014 and December of 2015.

"We're shooting two films back-to-back, so I'm writing two scripts, not one, which will complete a [three]-film story arc – not really a trilogy, but just an overall character arc so I'm pretty excited about that," he said. "We're doing a lot of preliminary work right now on new software and new animation techniques and so on. We're creating a new facility in Manhattan Beach so everybody that's not already dead is coming back."

Cameron also spoke about the pressure of trying to top "Avatar," which became the highest-grossing film of all time with $2.78 billion. "There's always an expectation," he explained. "I had to deal with that after 'The Terminator' back in 1984. All of a sudden I had a big hit movie and it was 'what are you doing next?' But my job is to take the audience on a journey and entertain them."

Naomi Harris Confirms She May be Bond Girl in "James Bond 23"

Posted: June 21st, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Earlier this month, we heard that Naomi Harris (28 Days Later, Ninja Assassin) has been offered a role in the 23rd James Bond installment. The role is being described as "Daniel Craig's sexy sidekick," which likely means that Harris will be the next Bond Girl.

ShadowAndAct now caught up with the actress to find out if there is any truth to the rumor. "All I can say is I've met the 'Bond' team, I've met Sam Mendes, they're all wonderful," she said. "I've auditioned for 'Bond.' My audition was really great actually because it's so top secret, the whole Bond thing. I hadn't realized how top secret it was. I've auditioned for a lot of things before but never for something where you can't see the script, it's that secret. I auditioned with a scene from 'Quantum of Solace.' You don't know what role you're going up for either, so everybody gets given a scene from a previous 'Bond' movie. I don't know whether it's true or not that I'm going to be an intelligent Bond girl. I don't know at all but I'd like it!"

Mendes is planning to begin filming soon with the goal of releasing the movie in theaters on November 9th, 2012.

Liv Tyler on "The Strangers" Sequel

Posted: June 21st, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Liv Tyler on The Strangers Sequel
ComingSoon had the chance to sit down with Liv Tyler and talks about the sequel to "The Strangers," which has been rumored ever since the first film became a hit back in 2008.

"It's strange. I've read the script. It's been around the whole time, but I don't know how real it is," she said. "Bryan [Bertino] isn't directing it, I don't know what's happened with it."

The last time we heard about "The Strangers 2" was last month when NY Knicks star Amar'e Stoudemire revealed that he will be producing the movie with Relativity Media. Tyler was set to reprise her role, but since she barely knows anything, maybe that's not the plan anymore.

New Photos from "Sherlock Holmes" Sequel

Posted: June 21st, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

New Photos from Sherlock Holmes Sequel
Today we have three new photos from the upcoming "Sherlock Holmes" sequel, called "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows." The new film stars Robert Downey Jr as the title characters, Jude Law as Watson and Jarred Harris as the villainous mastermind Moriarty. Check out the photos below.

Collider caught up with Harris to discuss his role in the sequel. "It's never explained in the story [whether Moriarty knows that he's evil] and I don't really think it needs to be," he said. "But for me, the character's amoral. He's moved beyond the concept of there being a heaven and a hell and a God and a devil, and there being good and evil. He doesn't believe in it. And if you don't believe in that moral construct, then everyone is free to do whatever they want. He's just doing what’s good for him."

"Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" is once again directed by Guy Ritchie and is set to hit theaters on December 16th.

Jamie Campbell Bower, Ed Speleers and Leebo Freeman Up for Role of Jace in THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS
by Adam Chitwood Posted: May 16th, 2011 at 6:59 pm

Now that the cast of The Hunger Games is just about set, it’s time to move on to the next teen fantasy/adventure book series film adaptation: The Mortal Instruments. Lily Collins (Priest) is locked as the lead in the Scott Stewart-directed flick. The Wrap reports that Jamie Campbell Bower, Ed Speleers and Leebo Freeman all tested opposite Collins on the Sony lot last week.

Bower is somewhat of a veteran of teen books-turned-films, having appeared in both Twilight (as Caius) and Harry Potter (as Gellert Grindelwald). Speleers is best known for 2006’s Eragon and Freeman is a newcomer. The book series centers on 15-year-old Clary Fray who witnesses a murder only to discover that she has encountered the “Shadowhunters”, a secret tribe of warriors who are on a mission to destroy demons. Hit the jump for a synopsis of the first novel in The Mortal Instruments series.

Rachel McAdams Talks MIDNIGHT IN PARIS, SHERLOCK HOLMES 2, and Working for Terrence Malick
by Christina Radish Posted: May 16th, 2011 at 5:58 pm
owen-wilson-rachel-mcadams-slice
It is quite clear that Woody Allen loves Paris, and even though her character in his latest film, Midnight in Paris, is quite the contrary, actress Rachel McAdams admits to loving Paris too. In this romantic comedy set in the City of Lights, Gil (Owen Wilson) is a successful Hollywood screenwriter who is following his dream of becoming a novelist, much like his idols Hemingway and Fitzgerald. When he and his fiancée Inez (Rachel McAdams) tag along on a trip to Paris with her father, his literary ambitions seems to annoy everyone and makes them question his focus. When Inez realizes that this is more than just a slight preoccupation for Gil, she begins to question whether or not they still have the same aspirations.

At the film’s press day, Rachel McAdams talked about working with Woody Allen and the type of director he is on set, how much she enjoyed working in and around Paris, working with the First Lady of France (Carla Bruni), and how the best acting advice she’s ever received is just to be as honest and present as you can be. She also talked about reprising her role as Irene Adler for a cameo in Sherlock Holmes 2, and working with director Terrence Malick on a still untitled film. Check out what she had to say after the jump:

Seth MacFarlane Rebooting THE FLINTSTONES
by Ethan Anderton Posted: May 16th, 2011 at 1:03 pm

Sure, he’s had cut away jokes in Family Guy referencing everyone’s favorite Stone Age family, but now Seth MacFarlane is giving his full attention to The Flintstones. Deadline reports the animation master is set to reboot the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon series as both a TV and film property. Apparently the project has been in the works for sometime now, but there was a lot of red tape to work through, not to mention the fact that the rightholders to the prehistoric cartoon were worried as to how MacFarlane’s bold and sometimes raunchy and controversial brand of humor would be applied to the series reboot. It’s still unclear just how this new cartoon series is going to work, and no broadcast date is set, but the project will be set up at Fox. Honestly, this seems like a risky move, but I’m wholly interested in seeing what a guy like MacFarlane can do with such an iconic property.

First Clip from J.J. Abrams’ SUPER 8
by Matt Goldberg Posted: May 16th, 2011 at 2:24 pm

The first clip from J.J. Abrams’ Super 8 has gone online. Footage-wise, there’s not much here that you haven’t seen in the trailer. What’s interesting about the clip is the pacing and the camera angles. The clip is paced so quickly that it almost feels abbreviated and of course, there’s plenty of lens flare for no particular reason.

Hit the jump to check out the brief clip. The film stars Elle Fanning, Kyle Chandler, Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich, Gabriel Basso, Joel Courtney, Ryan Lee, Zach Mills, and Amanda Michalka. Super 8 opens June 10th.

New SUPER 8 Clip
by Brendan Bettinger Posted: May 16th, 2011 at 9:24 pm

Paramount released the first clip from Super 8 earlier today, and followed up tonight with clip number two. The second clip opens right where the last clip ended, so together you have a full action-packed minute of Super 8, folks. (Actually, based on some choppy editing, I’m guessing they crammed at least couple minutes screentime devoted to kids goofing around with a camera then train crashery into said minute.)

Elle Fanning, Kyle Chandler, Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich, Gabriel Basso, Joel Courtney, Ryan Lee, Zach Mills, and Amanda Michalka star. Written and directed by J.J. Abrams in collaboration with producer Steven Spielberg, Super 8 opens June 10. Watch both clips after the jump.

It might be lucky number XIII for Stuart Townsend. The Irish actor plays the title role in XIII: The Series, a new Franco-Canadian conspiracy action-thriller.  Based on the French Belgian comic book series by Jean Van Hamme and William Vance and originally published in 1984, XIII was first adapted in 2008 in a miniseries called XIII: The Conspiracy starring Val Kilmer and Stephen Dorff in the title role. Van Hamme was reportedly inspired by Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Identity when he wrote XIII.

Collider Goes to the Set of SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS; Read a Preview Here

Sherlock-Holmes-A-Game-of-Shadows-image-Robert-Downey-Jr-Jude-Law-slice
Moriarty (Jared Harris) is sitting at a table inside the Hotel De La Ville in Paris surrounded by people.  He’s reading a newspaper inside the cafe.  After a few seconds, someone walks in to tell him something.  While I can’t hear what they’re saying, the news must be important, as he gets up after hearing it.  As he rises out of the chair, the focus of the shot pulls to an old man sitting at a table in the foreground of the frame.  The man is unremarkable.  He wears a suit of no importance.  He has a long grey beard and long grey hair.  I didn’t notice him until the camera pulled focus.  As Moriarty leaves the room and the man jumps out of his chair, I realize it’s Sherlock Holmes in disguise.
But let me back up a second.
Last month, on the day the Sundance Film Festival started, I got to visit the set of Sherlock Holmes 2 (now called Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) when the production was filming 45 miles outside London at Waddesdon Manor.  While the filming that day was supposed to be taking place in Paris, director Guy Ritchie was using the manor as a stand-in for the city.  The manor was built to look like a French Renaissance-style château, and standing inside the breathtaking building, I understood why they’d want to film there.  Read more about  my visit to the set of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows after the jump.
Sherlock-Holmes-A-Game-of-Shadows-image-Robert-Downey-Jr-Jude-Law

Since Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows doesn’t get released until December 16th, Warner Bros. has only given me permission to run a preview of what I saw and learned on set.  They also don’t want me running any of the interviews that I did with Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Noomi Rapace, Jared Harris, producers Susan Downey and Lionel Wigram, and director Guy Ritchie.  However, later this year, you can expect my full set report, all the interviews, and the video blog I recorded with Silas Lesnick from Coming Soon when we got back from set.
Now even though I can’t be specific or use any quotes, I think it’s safe to tell you what I thought after spending the entire day on set: I think Sherlock Holmes 2 is going to be even better than the first film – which I loved.  One of the reasons I feel this way is due to what Jared Harris told us during his interview.  He mentioned that he didn’t want his character to explain everything in some  long winded end-of-the-movie speech which lays out all of his plans.  He wanted Moriarty to be mysterious.  He wanted the audience to be unsure of his reasons.  And that is extremely cool.
In addition to Harris saying all the right things, we got to speak to Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law for about twenty five minutes while they were both in costume as Holmes and Watson.  The way they spoke to us and interacted with one another, you could tell they were extremely happy to be making a sequel to Sherlock Holmes and I can only imagine their enthusiasm will make for great chemistry on screen.
sherlock-holmes-2-movie-image-jude-law-robert-downey-01
Of course during the interviews we learned a lot about what the sequel is going to be about, but since I know WB wants us to be vague for now, here’s the official synopsis from the studio:
“Guy Ritchie helms a new action-packed adventure, following the world’s most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes (Downey Jr.), and his longtime trusted associate, Dr. Watson (Law), as they match wits with their arch-nemesis, the criminal genius Moriarty (Harris).”
As you can see, they’re keeping their cards close to their vest.  Just know I’m very excited by what I learned on set, so if you’re a fan of the first film, don’t worry.  They have a great story.
However, while I need to be careful what I say, Matt Goldberg wrote a bit on the film a few months ago when the first images was released and it sums up a lot:
The sequel takes place a year after the events of the first film and sees Holmes in pursuit of Professor Moriarty (Mad Men’s Jared Harris), who “might be the world’s first supervillain”.  The film also introduces Noomi Rapace in her first American role as a “feisty” gypsy named Sim.  Along for the ride is Stephen Fry as Sherlock’s brother Mycroft Holmes, a character who is, according to producer Susan Downey, “stranger and perhaps even more brilliant,” than Sherlock.  Meanwhile, as Sherlock and Watson pursue Moriarty, Watson is trying to keep his relationship with Mary Morstan (Kelly Reilly) afloat.
sherlock_holmes_2_movie_image_noomi_rapace_robert_downey_jr_jude_law_01
Finally, in addition to the scene I already told you about, we also got to watch an outdoor action scene being filmed at the end of our set visit.  As we stood around a monitor in a heated tent (it was very cold outside) we watched a dozen horse-drawn carriages and a hundred people react to an explosion that will be added in using CGI.  I won’t say anymore than that for now.  Just know it was very cool to watch and I can’t wait to see it when the film is completed.
Again, I’m sorry I can’t say anymore, but with the film still ten months away, I can understand Warner Bros. wanting us to hold our coverage back.  However, if you’re going to Comic-Con this summer, I’d imagine the studio will unveil some finished footage and possibly have the cast in attendance.   After all, Downey Jr. is a rock star at Comic-Con and he’ll probably be there for The Avengers anyway.

Michelle Pfeiffer and Helena Bonham Carter May Reteam with Tim Burton for DARK SHADOWS

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: February 15th, 2011

Michelle Pfeiffer is in talks to join the cast of Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows.  The film is an adaptation of the 1960s gothic soap opera of the same name.  Johnny Depp (who else) will star as Barnabas Collins, “a self-loathing vampire living in a Maine manor who is searching for his lost love.” According to Heat Vision, Pfeiffer is in negotiations for the role of “Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, the reclusive matriarch of the Collins family which runs the Maine town. The character has not left the mansion since the disappearance of her husband a decade earlier.”  Meanwhile, Deadline reports that Helena Bonham Carter (again, who else) is in talks to play “Hoffman, a specialist in psychology and rare blood disorders who moves into Collinwood. While she initially is a threat to the vampire Barnabas, she eventually becomes his ally, who might be able to cure him of his thirst for blood.” Jackie Earle Haley, Eva Green, and Bella Heathcote have signed on to the project in the previous weeks.
Pfeiffer recently signed on to costar in the romantic-comedy New Year’s Eve and Alex Kurtzman’s directorial debut Welcome to People starring Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks.  Pfeiffer previously played Catwoman in Burton’s 1992 film, Batman Returns.  Bonham Carter has costarred in six of Burton’s movies dating back to his remake of Planet of the Apes.

Ray Liotta Joins COGAN’S TRADE; Casey Affleck, Mark Ruffalo, Javier Bardem Confirmed to Co-Star

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: February 15th, 2011

When we last left Andrew Dominik’s adaptation of George V. Higgins’ crime novel Cogan’s Trade, the film was stacking up a great cast led by Brad Pitt and costarring James Gandolfini, Sam Rockwell, Bella Heathcote, and Richard Jenkins.  Also rumored to be in the cast were Casey Affleck, Mark Ruffalo, and Javier Bardem.  Risky Business now confirms that not only are Affleck, Ruffalo, and Bardem in the mix, but Ray Liotta is getting in the game as well.
The story of Cogan’s Trade revolves around a mob enforcer (Pitt) who must investigate the robbery of a high-stakes poker game.  Liotta is set to play “Mark ‘Markie’ Trattman, the unfortunate hustler who runs the game in a motel room and finds things only going downhill from there.”  Filming begins later this month in New Orleans for an early 2012 release.  The only way I can see this cast getting any better is if the rumor about Bill Murray joining the film comes true.  Hit the jump for a synopsis of the novel.

SHERLOCK HOLMES II Titled SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS

Chalk this up as our second official title news in as many days.  Yesterday, we reported that Marc Webb’s upcoming Spider-Man film would be called The Amazing Spider-Man.  Today, we can confirm that Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes sequel is officially titled Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.  This news comes courtesy of E! Online [via /Film] and really doesn’t change anything about the film except that we no longer have to refer to it in any number of ambiguous ways (i.e. Untitled Sherlock Holmes Sequel or Sherlock Holmes II).
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows hits theaters later this year on December 16th.  The film stars Robert Downey Jr. Jude Law, Rachel McAdams, Noomi Rapace, and Stephen Fry.

Jude Law and Robert Downey, Jr. share a laugh on the set of the sequel to their 2009 hit film Sherlock Holmes.
Entertainment Tonight caught up with the actors on set and asked why they wanted to make a sequel to the film.
“We said, if I remember rightly, on the last one that we had so much fun, and if everyone else would too, that if they wanted us to do more, we would — and it seems they wanted us to do more, so that’s why we’re back,” Jude shared. “It’s gone to the next level.”
“The idea this time was to remember what put us in the position to be able to join forces again,” Robert added. “The tone of Sherlock and Watson this time around [is darker] — they’re actually up against their greatest nemesis, therefore we’re afforded a little more levity [in some of the scenes].”
The Sherlock Holmes sequel will hit movie theaters on December 16!

Entertainment Tonight Visits the Set of SHERLOCK HOLMES 2

With filming on Sherlock Holmes 2 currently underway, the production is opening up the set to various outlets.  Last week, we reported that Hero Complex had seen some filming of a set piece and now Entertainment Tonight is getting to see what director Guy Ritchie and company have in store for the sequel.  For those who want to avoid spoilers on what ET saw, I’ll simply say that Holmes is having even more fun with disguises in the sequel and that his dress-up accompanies what could be a thrilling action scene.  We also get a brief look at new cast member Noomi Rapace in action.
Hit the jump to check out ET’s set vision.  Sherlock Holmes 2 stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, and Jared Harris.  It’s set to open on December 16th.

First Look at the Cast of X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: January 18th, 2011

x-men-first-class-cast-image-slice-01
The first image of the cast of X-Men: First Class has been released.  Because of the horrible photo-shopping job, my first instinct was that the image was faked.  But the image comes from MSN [who have now taken down the page] so I’ll assume it’s legit. The film is set in the 1960s (although you couldn’t tell it from these costumes) when apparently light bulbs were in short supply.
From left to right, you can see Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, January Jones as Emma Frost, Jason Flemyng as Azazel, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, either Lucas Till as Havoc or Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee (it’s difficult to see!), a young female actress who I don’t recognize, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and James McAvoy as Professor X.  Cast members not pictured include Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt, Edi Gathegi, and Zoe Kravitz.  Hit the jump for a synopsis of the film.  X-Men: First Class is due out June 3rd.
Here’s the official synopsis for X-Men: First Class:
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

New Image and Details for SHERLOCK HOLMES 2

A new image has been released for Sherlock Holmes 2 along with some new details on the film.  Hero Complex reports that currently-untitled sequel takes place a year after the events of the first film and sees Holmes in pursuit of Professor Moriarty (Mad Men’s Jared Harris), who “might be the world’s first supervillain”.
Hit the jump to check out the new image and learn more details about the flick.  Sherlock Holmes 2 is due out December 16th.
