Michelle Williams & Ryan Gosling: 'Blue Valentine' In Theaters Now!
Ryan Gosling wraps his arm around Michelle Williams in this new still from Blue Valentine, in limited release NOW.
Empire got the exclusive new stills of the upcoming romantic drama which follows a married couple and depicts their relationship cross-cutting between different time periods.
The new drama was recently pushed to be released two days earlier due to demand from movie fans. This was after the film was granted an R-rating from the MPAA after originally being rated NC-17.
JustJared.com saw Blue Valentine nearly a year ago at The Sundance Film Festival — we highly recommend it!

Universal Considers Javier Bardem and Viggo Mortensen for Roland Deschain in THE DARK TOWER
by Brendan Bettinger Posted: December 30th, 2010
By virtue of ambition, Universal’s undertaking to adapt Stephen King’s The Dark Tower novels ought to be fun to track through the development process. Ron Howard is signed to direct the first film of a planned trilogy. The intent is to fill the gap between each film with the season of Dark Tower on television.
The Hollywood agencies are understandably doing everything they can to get their clients in a room with the producers of such a hot property. The studio has reportedly narrowed down the list of actors to play Roland Deschain, the main character from the books. At the moment Javier Bardem is the leading candidate; Viggo Mortensen is a “close second.” More after the jump:
The New York Post suggests that the same cast will be used for all three films and the television series, which should be viable for at least the secondary players. But there may be some wiggle room with the lead. The Post repeats what they’ve been hearing about the narrative structure of the project:
According to reports, they plan to start with an epic movie, then continue the story with the TV series, followed by a second film, and then a second TV season showing gunslinger Deschain as a young man. Then, the third movie will end the saga with Deschain as an older man.
So the A-lister who eventually signs on to play Roland probably wouldn’t be involved with the second season. I’m still eager to hear how many episodes they’re thinking about for each season, to get a better sense of just how grueling the Dark Tower schedule will be.
In the novels, King compares Roland to the ponchoed Clint Eastwood from the Man with No Name series, which is evident from the illustrations on the various book covers. Bardem and (to a very slightly lesser extent) Mortensen both seem like a great fit for a very masculine character. I sign off on either choice.
The first Dark Tower film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 17, 2013. Here’s a brief character description for Roland Deschain:
At the start of the story, Roland is in his 40s, but is physically in his 50s at the end of The Gunslinger, when his age is arrested as he slumbers for centuries. Most of his hair is gray or white, but some remains black. His facial features are described as rough (although Susannah once compared them to that of a tired poet), and he has light blue eyes, often referred to by characters and Stephen King as “bombardier’s eyes.” Roland lost his right big toe and his right index and middle fingers, which is problematic as he is right-handed in everything other than shooting. He is a strong and disciplined man, capable of working through injuries and illnesses that would have killed or incapacitated another man. Roland is also unusually tall; at 14, he stood taller than the 16-year-old Susan, and, as an adult, his height exceeds that of his father…Emotionally, Roland at times appears detached or unsympathetic, often reacting uncaring or angry at signs of cowardice or self-pity, yet he possess a strong sense of heroism, often attempting to help those in need. He is shown to be mentally scarred from the deaths of all his friends and family, often thinking about their words and actions, and he is said (on more than one occasion by himself) that he greatly lacks imagination. He also describes himself as “not very good in thinking around corners”, meaning he has a very practical character, never really seeking other meanings or intentions behind what he sees, although he is very perceptive and intelligent. Cuthbert, Roland’s best friend in his childhood, once said the gears in Roland’s head turn slow, but grind extremely well. Roland is not very patient, especially when he is under stress, and often makes a rotating gesture with his hand, which means ‘go on, hurry, move on’ in conversations. Similarly, he prefers not to over-plan his actions, trusting greatly in his instinct and skill at improvising according to the situation. He is also shown not to have a great sense of humor: though he knows a lot of riddles he rarely jokes and is visibly irritated at times when Eddie (and in the past, Cuthbert) joke around. Roland is not one for small talk. [Wikipedia]
And here is the synopsis for the series:
In the story, Roland Deschain is the last living member of a knightly order known as gunslingers and the last of the line of “Arthur Eld”, his world’s analogue of King Arthur. The world he lives in is quite different from our own, yet it bears striking similarities to it. Politically organized along the lines of a feudal society, it shares technological and social characteristics with the American Old West but is also magical. While the magical aspects are largely gone from Mid-World, some vestiges of them remain, along with the relics of a highly advanced, but long vanished, society. Roland’s quest is to find the Dark Tower, a fabled building said to be the nexus of all universes. Roland’s world is said to have “moved on”, and indeed it appears to be coming apart at the seams as mighty nations have been torn apart by war, entire cities and regions vanish without a trace and time does not flow in an orderly fashion. Even the Sun sometimes rises in the north and sets in the east. As the series opens, Roland’s motives, goals and age are unclear, though later installments shed light on these mysteries. [Wikipedia]

Brad Pitt Confirmed for Andrew Dominik’s COGAN’S TRADE
by Adam Chitwood Posted: December 30th, 2010
Last month, we told you that The Assassination of Jesse James director Andrew Dominik was looking to reteam with a few of the actors from that film for his next feature, Cogan’s Trade. Well, it looks like at least one of the James gang will for sure be reuniting with Dominik: Brad Pitt. Pitt is set to star in the titular role of Jackie Cogan in the adaptation of the George V. Higgins novel.
Cogan’s Trade tells the story of an enforcer, Cogan, who is hired by the mob to investigate a high stakes poker heist. Other names mentioned to possibly join Pitt in the film include Jesse James co-stars Casey Affleck and Sam Rockwell, as well as Bill Murray, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana. Hit the jump to read a synopsis of the novel.
The Assassination of Jesse James is criminally underrated, and was absolutely one of my favorite films of 2007. The thought of Dominik teaming up with Pitt again, especially if even half of the rumored cast signs on, is very good news. Scene [via /Film] reports that filming is expected to start on the flick in the New Orleans area in March.
Here’s the synopsis of Cogan’s Trade by George V. Higgins
http://collider.com/brad-pitt-cogans-trade/67386/[Cogan's Trade] tracks Jackie Cogan’s career in a gangland version of law and order. For Cogan is an enforcer; and when the Mob’s rules get broken, he gets hired to ply his trade — murder. In the gritty, tough-talking pages of Higgins’s 1974 national best-seller, Cogan is called in when a high-stake card game under the protection of the Mob is heisted. Expertly, with a ruthless businessman’s efficiency, a shrewd sense of other people’s weaknesses, and a style as cold as his stare, Cogan moves with reliable precision to restore the status quo as ill-conceived capers and double-dealing shenanigans erupt into high-voltage violence. Exclusive Interview with David Fincher! Talks SOCIAL NETWORK, DRAGON TATTOO, 20,000 LEAGUES, Editing, How He Makes Movies, More
by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub Posted: December 30th
As the director of some of the best films over the past fifteen years (Fight Club, Zodiac, Seven, The Game, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Social Network), David Fincher is considered by many (myself included) to be one of the best directors working in Hollywood. Unfortunately, while he makes some of the best movies, he rarely grants interviews and is reluctant to talk with the press. So when I was offered the chance to sit down with him earlier today to talk about his latest masterpiece, The Social Network, I jumped at the chance.
While the interview was scheduled for thirty minutes, we actually ended up talking for almost fifty! During our lengthy conversation we discussed making The Social Network (which gets released on DVD/Blu-ray January 11th), the way he makes movies, future projects like The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and why he does so many takes. If you’re a fan of this brilliant director, hit the jump to either read or listen to what he had to say. I promise, this is one interview you don’t want to miss.

Samuel L. Jackson, Luke Wilson, and Leslie Bibb have signed on to star in Meeting Evil, a noir thriller based on a novel by Thomas Berger. Wilson stars as John Felton, a real estate salesman sent into depression by the econnomic collapse: “After being fired, he ends up going on a joy ride with a stranger named Richie (Jackson) that brings them down a path towards violence.” Bibb plays Felton’s wife.
Meeting Evil will begin shooting in New Orleans on January 8, 2011 under the direction of Chris Fisher (S. Darko). Hit the jump for a synopsis of Berger’s novel.
John Felton meets evil late one Monday morning when the doorbell rings. Standing on the front porch is a stranger. He wears expensive running shoes and a baseball cap and calls himself Richie. He tells John his car has stalled and asks for help. An altercation at the gas station leads to a shocking crime as violence begets violence. At the end of this harrowing day, John returns home to find Richie ensconced in his living room, chatting up his wife. The evil has somehow seeped into his life. Thus begins the transformation of an unremarkable husband and father of two into a desperate man willing to go to any length to protect his family from the darkness that threatens them. [Amazon]
According to Scene [via The Wrap] describes Fisher’s script as “moody with elements of dark comedy.” This sounds like the type of thriller that could go either way. That’s before you account for the “Sam Jackson Factor.” Jackson as charismatic evil = watchability.
Wilson is currently filming Yellow with Ben Foster and Sienna Miller with a role on HBO’s Enlightened to follow. Jackson has The Killing Game (formerly titled Deathgames) in the can, and will reprise his role as Nick Fury for The Avengers. Bibb will next be seen in Zookeeper opposite Kevin James and talking animals.

Shannen Doherty Hot Gossips
Shannen Doherty is no stranger to having a ring on her finger.
With two failed marriages under her belt, and one unsuccessful engagement, the 90210 icon could easily bid adieu to the idea of walking down the aisle again. But at 39, Doherty says she hasn't given up on the dream of having her own family.
"I would consider getting married again because I want kids," the Badass book author told PEOPLE Tuesday at her Malibu home. "That's why I would do it. I believe in marriage as a whole because my parents were married for 43 years, so I have the best example in the world of what marriage can be."
Acknowledging she "obviously did not have the same experience" her parents had with marriage, Doherty goes on to say, "I still really believe in it."
Her new watchword: caution. "You just have to be 100 percent sure," she says. "You have to go in with your eyes wide open and realize that it's probably going to take a lot of work and maybe some couples' therapy perhaps."
Doherty, who just donated items in her closet to Glad's Celebrity Coat Auction, benefiting One Warm Coat's non-profit organization with style editor Bobbie Thomas, adds, "When the going gets tough, you don't get going – you hang in. So, marriage to me is such a gigantic commitment that it's not something I'd ever go into lightly anymore. I've learned my lesson."

***New Water For Elephants Trailer — Packed With More Robert Pattinson Hotness! ***Blue Valentine's Michelle Williams Shares About Watching Brokeback Mountain With Matilda Someday
Wednesday - 8:07PM by Molly Goodson
Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon captivated us earlier this month in the first Water For Elephants trailer and now we're getting a second glimpse at their chemistry. Rob's sexiness is amplified in the latest teaser and solidifies his status as your favorite male celebrity of 2010 — enjoy!
Wednesday - 2:01PM by Allie Merriam
Michelle Williams showed off her trendy pixie cut on the cover of December's Angeleno magazine. The accompanying article is the latest in Michelle's long line of efforts to promote Blue Valentine, which hit theaters today — Buzz raved about the project and called it a must see. Michelle and her costar Ryan Gosling have given sweet, funny joint interviews, but she was solo in this publication to talk about more personal matters. She touched on finally feeling her age at 30 and finally watching Brokeback Mountain with her rapidly growing daughter Matilda. Michelle said:
- On Matilda growing up "Her hair is down to her chin and she has decided she can have her bangs trimmed, but she doesn’t want a bob anymore. A bob is cute for a three-year-old but she is five now. . .it’s crazy how fast time is going for me and how agonizingly slow it is going for her. When she was four she would say ‘I am four and a half,’ ‘I am four and five-sixths,’ ‘four and seven-eighths,’ because all the increments mattered."
- On Brokeback Mountain and someday watching it with Matilda: "I was just an actor who happened to be lucky enough to be in the right place, and it was the place where I met Matilda’s father, and that is a lot. It was a lot. And it will be a lot for Matilda too, when she gets around to watching it. I will watch it with her, when she’s ready. It is hard to imagine what that would feel like, but one day, yes, we will watch it together."
- On finally feeling her age: "I’ve done a lot. I have taken on a lot of things earlier than would be the standard in terms of working, of being in a serious relationship and having a child. I was 25 when I had Matilda and so I feel like I have caught up to myself, and 30 feels like a number that maybe matches all those things a little bit better."

Michelle Williams Covers 'Angeleno' January 2011
Michelle Williams graces the cover of Angeleno January issue, which names her an “Oscar Favorite.”
Here’s what the 30-year-old Blue Valentine star had to share with the magazine:
On her daughter Matilda: “It’s crazy how fast time is going for me and how agonizingly slow it is going for her. When she was four she would say ‘I am four and a half,’ ‘I am four and five-sixths,’ ‘four and seven-eights,’ because all the increments mattered. They brought her one step closer.”
On her breakout role in Brokeback Mountain: “I was just an actor who happened to be lucky enough to be in the right place, and it was the place where I met Matlida’s father [the late Heath Ledger], and that is a lot. And it will be a lot for Matlida too, when she gets around to watching it. I will watch it with her, when she’s ready.”
On moving to L.A. in her teens: “I think bravery and foolishness must be cousins. There is a fine line between them and teeter-tottering on that line was me at 15. It did work out well for me, but it just as easily could have not. I’m lucky. L.A. is not the kind of town to be 15 and on your own in.”

***New International Posters for THE GREEN HORNET ***Clooney joins Bullock in 'Gravity'
New International Posters for THE GREEN HORNET
by Talia Soghomonian Posted: December 29th, 2010
One of the most anticipated movies of the new year, The Green Hornet is set to kick off 2011 with a blend of adventure and director Michel Gondry’s habitual touch of eccentricity, if the various artworks are anything to go by.
Remember when Collider gave you an exclusive sneak peek of The Green Hornet’s character posters back in November? They have now officially debuted on Korean billboards, while the Spanish and French posters resemble the US ones. Hit the jump to take a look.
For fans, the international and character posters are sure to become a collector’s item. The saturated colors give them a comic feel and their poses are rather telling. While Seth Rogen’s Britt Reid and his sidekick Kato, played by Taiwanese star Jay Chou, portray the classic superhero dynamic, their arch-enemy Benjamin Chudnofsky, portrayed by the ever-eclectic Christoph Waltz, looks over his shoulder, his pointy beard reminding me of Satan’s tail; and Cameron Diaz as Britt’s secretary Lenore Case looks less uptight than Pepper Potts with just the right hint of sexiness.
I noticed the posters gracing the billboards along the corridors of the Parisian subway this morning. The movie will hit French theaters on January 12, two days before its US release (well, director Michel Gondry is French) and will premiere in Paris on January 4. The main French poster, featuring all four main characters, reads: “To break the law so as to better defend it.”
And if you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, here’s a full recap, including set visits, interviews and a featurette.

Clooney joins Bullock in 'Gravity'
George Clooney has joined Sandra Bullock in the cast of Alfonso Cuaron's science fiction drama Gravity, reports Deadline.
The project revolves around a female astronaut (Sandra Bullock) trying to make it to Earth after a disaster in space. Clooney will play her colleague.
Clooney will replace Robert Downey Jr. as the leader of a space station that gets decimated by debris from an exploded asteroid. Clooney and Bullock's characters are the sole survivors of the mission and must find a way to return home.
The initial pairing for the Alfonso Cuaron-directed project was to have been Angelina Jolie and Robert Downey Jr. Then came a protracted series of reversals that saw Jolie leave and come back, while actresses Marion Cotillard, Scarlett Johansson, Blake Lively and Natalie Portman were involved with the movie to varying degrees, all within the last eight months.
Downey stuck with the project throughout the various casting changes but in mid-November, just as things looked set with Bullock, he bailed.
Gravity will begin production next April or May after Bullock has completed Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close and Clooney finds time away from his next directorial effort The Ides Of March.

Selena Gomez with Justin Biber
Mtv caught up with Justin Bieber in Atlanta at one of his many charity events and he gave a scoop on his “friend” Selena Gomez for a change. You can catch the whole his whole comment at the bottom of this post, but here are a few select highlights from it.
The more they talk about each other and the more cryptic they become, the more rumors will happen. I think they should just stay quite about each other of they do not want to world to talk about them. Leave it to the public to come up with their own answers. I think that would be the best way for them to handle it. What do you think of Justin and Selena? Should they avoid the topic of love? I think they should if they won’t commit on either way.
