A new image from Your Highness is now available online.  Directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express), the medieval adventure/comedy stars Danny McBride and James Franco as brothers who embark on a quest to save Franco’s bride-to-be (Zooey Deschanel) from being deflowered by an evil wizard (Justin Theroux).  The brothers are joined on their journey by a warrior (Natalie Portman) who has ulterior motives and, from the looks of the trailer, hilariousness ensues.

Here’s the official synopsis:
Throughout history, tales of chivalry have burnished the legends of brave, handsome knights who rescue fair damsels, slay dragons and conquer evil.  But behind many a hero is a good-for-nothing younger brother trying just to stay out of the way of those dragons, evil and trouble in general.  Danny McBride and James Franco team up for an epic comedy adventure set in a fantastical world—Your Highness.  As two princes on a daring mission to save their land, they must rescue the heir apparent’s fiancée before their kingdom is destroyed.
Thadeous (McBride) has spent his life watching his perfect older brother Fabious (Franco) embark upon valiant journeys and win the hearts of his people.  Tired of being passed over for adventure, adoration and the throne, he’s settled for a life of wizard’s weed, hard booze and easy maidens.  But when Fabious’ bride-to-be, Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel), gets kidnapped by the evil wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux), the king gives his deadbeat son an ultimatum: Man up and help rescue her or get cut off.
Half-assedly embarking upon his first quest, Thadeous joins Fabious to trek across the perilous outlands and free the princess.  Joined by Isabel (Natalie Portman)—an elusive warrior with a dangerous agenda of her own—the brothers must vanquish horrific creatures and traitorous knights before they can reach Belladonna.  If Thadeous can find his inner hero, he can help his brother prevent the destruction of his land.  Stay a slacker, and not only does he die a coward, he gets front row seats to the dawn of an all-new Dark Ages.

First Image from THE DEEP BLUE SEA Starring Rachel Weisz and Tom Hiddleston

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: December 20th, 2010

The first image from the drama The Deep Blue Sea has gone online.  The period drama stars Rachel Weisz as a London socialite and Tom Hiddleston (Thor) as an ex-RAF pilot who are in love during the 1950s.  Their romance is slightly complicated by the fact that Weisz’ character is married to a high court judge (Simon Russell Beale).  Despite the title, there is no Samuel L. Jackson-devouring shark making his way through London’s high society.

First Trailer for Joe Wright’s HANNA

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted: December 20th, 2010

The first trailer for Joe Wright’s (Pride & Prejudice, The Soloist, Atonement) Hanna has been released. The thriller features Saoirse Ronan as a teenage assassin who has been trained by her father (Eric Bana), an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Finland.  Cate Blanchett, Tom Hollander, Olivia Williams and Jason Flemyng also star.
While I thought The Soloist was a big misfire, I absolutely love Pride & Prejudice and Atonement. I’m really hoping this is a return to form for Wright.  What’s really promising about the trailer is that it looks like nothing Wright has done before and I really can’t wait to see it.   The only negative about the trailer is that it reveals a lot of the story – including what might be a big twist.  Saying that, there is a lot of action and it definitely made me want to see it.  Judge the trailer for yourself after the jump.  Hanna hits theaters April 8 and the music is being done by The Chemical Brothers.
Synopsis: The title character of this adventure thriller, filmed in Europe, Hanna (played by Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan ["Atonement"]) is a teenage girl. Uniquely, she has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a soldier; these come from being raised by her father (Eric Bana of “Star Trek”), an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Finland.
Living a life unlike any other teenager, her upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own (Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett). As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity.
