New Posters for THE WHISTLEBLOWER and COWBOYS & ALIENS

Tonight brings new posters for The Whistleblower and Cowboys & Aliens.  Rachel Weisz stars as “an American police officer who takes a job working as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia” in The Whistleblower, inspired by a true story.  Vanessa Redgrave, Monica Bellucci, and David Strathairn also star in the directorial debut of Larysa Kondracki.  The Whistleblower opens on August 5.
The new Cowboys & Aliens banner poster continues to highlight the anachronistic technology shackled to Daniel Craig’s wrist.  Director Jon Favreau credits that image to producer Steven Spielberg, which explains pretty much all you need to know about its raw cinematic appeal. Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Paul Dano, Clancy Brown, and Walton Goggins also star. Cowboys & Aliens opens on July 29.

New Image of Gina Carano With a Machine Gun in Steven Soderberg’s HAYWIRE

Relativity has released a new image from Haywire, the second of the five remaining Steven Soderbergh movies before he retires.  MMA fighter Gino Carano stars as a double-crossed covert agent looking to a) protect her family and b) exact revenge on those who betrayed her.  As evidenced in the new image, the machine gun is an integral tool for her revenge.
I imagine part of Soderbergh’s financing pitch was to surround Carano, a novice, with an all star cast: Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas, and Bill Paxton.  Haywire opens on January 20.  See the full image in high resolution after the jump. http://collider.com/haywire-movie-image/99927/

Chris Rock and Anna Kendrick Join WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU’RE EXPECTING

by Adam Chitwood   Posted: June 30th, 2011

The cast of director Kirk Jones’ (Everybody’s Fine) baby book adaptation What to Expect When You’re Expecting keeps growing, as Chris Rock and Anna Kendrick have just signed on. The Love Actually-esque movie will follow six expectant couples through the ups and downs of pregnancy. Lionsgate announced that Kendrick will play a woman who reunites with an old flame following a turf war between their food trucks.
Per Deadline, Rock will play the leader of a group of expectant fathers who “lectures them on what it’s really like to have a baby and become a father.” Rock and Kendrick join a cast that includes Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Isla Fischer and Brooklyn Decker. Filming begins this summer, with What to Expect When You’re Expecting slated for a May 11th, 2012 release. http://collider.com/chris-rock-anna-kendrick-what-to-expect-when-youre-expecting/99919/

D.J. Caruso in Negotiations to Helm A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES

by Jason Barr   Posted: June 30th, 2011

Director D.J. Caruso (I Am Number Four) is in talks to direct an adaptation of the Lawrence Frank book A Walk Among the Tombstones for Cross Creek Pictures. Centering on the character Matthew Scudder, A Walk Among the Tombstones sees the alcoholic ex-cop investigating the kidnapping of a heroin drug lord’s wife. If Caruso’s negotiations go through, it isn’t clear whether Tombstones or the John August-penned adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's Preacher will be his next project.
Deadline reports that Scott Frank (Minority Report) will pen the adaptation which has been rolling around Hollywood for some time now and is expected to take on an “R-rated tone.” A nearly two-decades younger Harrison Ford was once interested in making a turn as the protagonist Matthew Scudder when the pic was set up at Universal. There is no word on who might be interested in starring in the project’s most recent development attempt, but given that Scudder’s character is retired, I’m going to go ahead and say that the 69-year-old Ford should still give it a shot. For more, hit the jump to check out a synopsis for Frank’s book. http://collider.com/dj-caruso-a-walk-among-the-tombstones/99851/

Adam McKay in Talks to Direct Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in THREE MISSISSIPPI

by Jason Barr    Posted: June 30th, 2011

Director Adam McKay is in talks to reunite with The Other Guys co-stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg for the football comedy Three Mississippi. Already on the project as a producer, Vulture reports that McKay is now in negotiations to helm the pic for Warner Bros. Written by Robert Carlock (30 Rock) and Scott Silveri (Friends), Three Mississippi tells the story of two Philadelphia neighbors whose annual Thanksgiving game of tackle football has become extraordinarily heated. In addition to Ferrell and Wahlberg, Three Mississippi also stars Alec Baldwin as Wahlberg’s father and is courting Jeremy Renner for a potential role as well.
Three Mississippi becomes the next in a long line of McKay/Ferrell projects. Yesterday, we reported that Warner Bros. had picked up the duo’s buddy comedy Swear to God from Due Date screenwriters Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland. Of the two, however, it is believed that Three Mississippi will become McKay’s next directorial effort with Warner Bros. hoping to have the pic to moviegoers by Thanksgiving of 2012. http://collider.com/adam-mckay-three-mississippi/99820/

Bradley Cooper Covers 'GQ Australia' June/July 2011
Bradley Cooper looks dapper in a suit on the cover of GQ Australia’s June/July issue.
Here’s what the 36-year-old Hangover star shared with the mag, which goes on sale May 30 in Australia:
On playing Eddie Morra in Limitless: “I think originally Heath Ledger wanted to do it. Then Shia LaBeouf was attached and then … well, I’m not quite sure, but the story goes he got Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and that was that … When I heard that he fell out I just pleaded my case so I could at least have the meeting with Neil Burger, who was attached to direct.”
On his amibitions: “I just keep it really simple. I just want to get better. It’s all about the filmmaker - and that’s it … I want to be an actor who gets to work with these wonderful people. That’s it.”
On keeping his personal life private: “I just don’t talk about my private life. I’ll never do it, no matter whats written about me. Some things you just have to keep to yourself. I’ll talk about my personal past, family, and other stuff, but when you bring in other people, I feel there’s no reason for it.”

"The Hangover 3" Headed to Amsterdam?

Posted: May 28th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

"The Hangover Part II" is now expected to top $135 million at the domestic box office. And considering the fact that director Todd Phillips always envisioned the franchise as a trilogy, a third installment is inevitable.

THR caught up with the sequel's female lead Jamie Chung, who spoke about where the third installment should take place. "Probably Amsterdam," she said. "If you think of the coolest, craziest cities in the world, it would have to be Las Vegas, Bangkok and Amsterdam."

Justin Bartha added: "Amsterdam could be a different kind of hangover. It could be fun. And Zach [Galifanakis] will probably already be there."

When asked if Ken Jeong would want to return for the third installment, the actor said: "I would absolutely do a third one [with] no fear of typecasting. All of my fame and success in the last few years is directly due to 'The Hangover.' Those guys are like family to me, so it doesn't matter -- big part or small part... Well, I guess I know a thing or two about small parts."

Paul Schneider to Star in Broken Lizard’s THE BABY MAKER; Sienna Miller Reportedly Joins FREAKY DEAKY

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: May 27th, 2011

We have a couple quick casting notes to report.  First up, Paul Schneider (Lars and the Real Girl) will star in Broken Lizard’s new movie The Baby Maker.  While Broken Lizard will star and the troupe’s Jay Chandrasekhar will direct, the script was penned by Ice Age: The Meltdown writers Peter Gaulke and Gerry Swallow.  Per Variety, “Story follows a married couple who fail to conceive after months of trying, prompting the husband to enlist his friends’ help to rob a Pasadena sperm bank, where he made a deposit as a young man.  All of the Broken Lizard members are expected to co-star, with Kevin Heffernan playing the protag’s crazy best friend, who hooks him up with an Estonian master thief, played by Chandrasekhar. Other Broken Lizard members include Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske.”
Why the sperm bank wouldn’t simply give him back his own seed is beyond me.  I’m also surprised that sperm keeps for that long.  Logistics aside, Schneider is terrific actor and it will be interesting to see him play against the Broken Lizard gang.  Hit the jump for some casting news regarding the adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s Freaky Deaky.

Trailer for THE WHISTLEBLOWER Starring Rachel Weisz

by Matt Goldberg   Posted: May 27th, 2011 at 8:47 am

The US trailer for The Whistleblower has gone online.  Based on real events, Rachel Weisz stars as a UN peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia who uncovers rampant corruption and a massive cover-up of criminal activity.  The film played the festival circuit last year to positive notices and I’m glad I’ll finally get a chance to see it in the near future.  In addition to Weisz, the impressive cast features David Strathairn, Monica Bellucci, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jason Isaacs, and Vanessa Redgrave.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The Whistleblower opens August 5th. http://collider.com/whistleblower-trailer/93356/

First Clip from GREEN LANTERN

With the film’s release only a few weeks away, the first clip from Green Lantern has gone online.  The clip was shown on Attack of the Show before an interview with Michael Clarke Duncan who voices Kilowog.  In the clip, we see Kilowog training Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds).  What I really like about this clip is that previously we’ve seen Hal generate swords, chainguns, and a giant fist, but what’s so fantastic about the ring is that it can conjure anything.  Seeing what a seasoned Green Lantern Corps member like Kilowog constructs in this clip is pretty ingenious and raises my excitement for the completed film.
Hit the jump to check out the clip.  Green Lantern opens in 3D on June 17th. http://collider.com/green-lantern-movie-clip/93353/

New Picture of Sean Hayes as Larry in the Farrelly Brothers THREE STOOGES Movie

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub   Posted: May 27th, 2011 at 2:54 am

Sean Hayes (Larry) The Three Stooges movie image slice
With filming underway in Atlanta on the Farrelly Brothers Three Stooges movie, the other day we posted our first look at Larry (Sean Hayes) and Moe (Chris Diamantopoulos) on set.  However, we now have a much better look at Hayes as Larry.  If there was anyone who doubted that Hayes looked like Larry, this picture will silence the naysayers.  However, we still don’t know how he’ll play the character, but I’ve always thought Hayes was an underrated actor, and I think he’s going to nail it.
The Three Stooges will be comprised of three 27-minute segments (just like the originals), the first of which see them as children raising all kinds of hell in an orphanage.  Hit the jump for a better picture. http://collider.com/three-stooges-movie-image-sean-hayes-larry/93280/
