by Brendan Bettinger Posted: March 14th, 2011
Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment have signed Michael Ealy (Takers) and his beautiful eyes to play the male lead opposite franchise star Kate Beckinsale in Underworld 4: New Dawn. In the script by J. Michael Straczynski (Ninja Assassin) and John Hlavin (The Shield), vampiress Selene (Beckinsale) wakes from a coma-like state after fifteen years to learn she has a 14-year-old vampire/Lycan hybrid daughter: “they must stop BioCom from creating super Lycans that will kill them all.” Ealy plays a police detective who first hunts Beckinsale, then teams up with her. Underworld 3D just started shooting in Vancouver under the direction of Swedish team Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein (Shelter); the film is scheduled for release on January 20, 2012.
Hit the jump for news on the true nature of Robin McLeavy’s involvement with Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, plus details on the indie thriller A Single Shot.

Ivan Reitman on "Ghostbusters 3," "Baywatch" Movie, "Private Parts" Sequel
Posted: March 14th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
THR had the chance to sit down with director Ivan Reitman and ask him for updated on some of the projects that he has been rumored for, including "Ghostbusters 3," a big screen version of "Baywatch" and the sequel to Howard Stern's "Private Parts."
Ghostbusters 3: "There's a lot of talk about 'Ghostbusters III.' And there's a very good script that the other cast members have read and liked. We're just waiting for Bill Murray to read it."
Baywatch: "We still don't have a script that's makeable. I think it's a big opportunity. This is a comedy, and I think we have a very interesting take — a classical idea that will be fresh for the world audience. It's one of the best-known titles that's out there."
Private Parts 2: "I spoke to Howard. He brings it up all the time. There is a great sequel story in it. But I doubt it will happen. If he's going to do another film, my guess is that it's probably not going to be the sequel to 'Private Parts.'"

Trailer and 4 Images for GIRL WALKS INTO A BAR Starring Carla Gugino, Zachary Quinto, and Rosario Dawson
by Matt Goldberg Posted: February 17th, 2011
The trailer for Girl Walks into a Bar has gone online. The film has an impressive cast that includes Carla Gugino, Zachary Quinto, Danny DeVito, Josh Hartnett, Rosario Dawson, Alexis Bledel, and Robert Forster. Based solely on the trailer, I have no idea was to what the movie’s about. But Girl’s hook doesn’t seem to be it’s cast or its story, but rather its distribution method. Girl Walks into a Bar will be presented by Lexus and YouTube for free, exclusively on YouTube. The money quote in the press release comes from Lexus VP of Marketing Dave Nordstrom:
“It seems fitting to support this initiative as we launch our most unconfined vehicle yet—the CT 200h hybrid —in a space that we know will reach an unconventional, sophisticated audience.” (emphasis mine)
Clearly, Mr. Nordstrom has never been on YouTube. Hit the jump to check out the trailer, four images from the film, and the full press release. Girl Walks into a Bar goes online March 11th.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead, NOT Robin McLeavy, Cast as Mary Todd Lincoln in ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER
by Matt Goldberg Posted: February 17th, 2011
So you remember how earlier this week we told you that Robin McLeavy was going to be playing Mary Todd Lincoln in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter? Yeah…well, you see that’s a funny thing because now Heat Vision is reporting that the role is going Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Winstead has been on a bit of a hot-streak lately when it comes to circling high-profile projects. She was in the running for Cameron Crowe’s We Bought a Zoo (the role went to Scarlett Johansson), SHIELD Agent Maria Hill in The Avengers (the role went to How I Met Your Mother’s Cobie Smulders), and rumored for Lois Lane in Superman (along with every other young actress in Hollywood).
Winstead, who was last seen in theaters in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, will join rising stars Benjamin Walker, Anthony Mackie, and Dominic Cooper in Timur Bekmambetov’s 3D adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel. She’ll next been seen in Matthijs van Heijningen’s remake/prequel The Thing. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is due out June 22, 2012. Hit the jump for a synopsis of the novel.
HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS, Starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, Set for March 2, 2012
by Matt Goldberg Posted: February 17th, 2011
Paramount has set Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters for March 2, 2012. The film spins the Grimm fairy tale to where Hansel and Gretel are now adults (played by Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, respectively) and bounty-hunters who specialize in the witch-killin’ business. Famke Janssen will play the leader of the witches. Will Ferrell, Chris Henchy, Adam McKay, and Kevin J. Messick will produce with Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola at the helm.
Currently, the only competition Hansel & Gretel will have that weekend is the animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. Both films are currently set to be released in 3D. [Deadline]

Tim Burton is producing the movie which is based on the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith.

Christopher Walken, Ashley Greene, Shirley MacLaine, and Adam Beach to Star in THE BOOM BOOM ROOM
by Matt Goldberg Posted: February 14th, 2011
Christopher Walken, Ashley Greene, Shirley MacLaine, and Adam Beach will star in the mystical drama The Boom Boom Room. In a slightly bizarre pairing, Bono will be executive producing the film alongside acclaimed art house director Wim Wenders (Wings of Desire). There are no details on the plot other than it’s “a magical tale set in a desert milieu.” Writer/director Lian Lunson tells Screen Daily “This has been a vision of mine for a very long time. The story captures the essences of everyday life but in a fairy tale landscape. It is a dream to be working with Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Walken, both of whom are playing roles unlike anything they’ve done before.” I’ll pay $10 just to hear Christopher Walken say “Boom Boom Room”, but only on the condition that I also get it as a ringtone.
First Set Photo from THE DARK KNIGHT RISES?
by Matt Goldberg Posted: February 14th, 2011
Christopher Nolan has been trying to keep production on The Dark Knight Rises as secret as possible, but the first set photo may have already leaked out. The set photo shows the front of Arkham Asylum on what appears to be a soundstage. The person who posted the photo says “my good mate who is working on set at cardington where it’s being shot sent me this.” It’s possible that this is a leftover set photo from either Batman Begins or The Dark Knight, but if that’s the case, then we will be denied the fun of over-speculating on how Arkham figures into the plot of TDKR.
Hit the jump to check out the set photo. The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Morgan Freeman, and possibly Marion Cotillard. The film opens on July 20, 2012.
