Time Travel Leaves Jake Gyllenhaal Cold In This Source Code Clip

published: 2011-02-18 00:30:15 Author: Josh Tyler
Source Code is a time travel movie, sort of. Think Quantum Leap meets Groundhog Day and you’ll have some idea of what to expect from director Duncan Jones’ latest film. But here’s something that should give you time travel fans a little something extra to geek out about. At least some element of the movie seems to be working on Doc Brown’s Back to the Future time travel rules. Or at least that’s my explanation for what’s going on in this new Source Code clip. Much like the Delorean after a successful jump, Jake Gyllenhaal suddenly seems very, very cold.

In the snippet you’re about to see, Gyllenhaal’s character has just returned from one of his leaps. As you can tell, he’s a bit frozen. He’s given new, terrifying information and authorized to do something with it. Take a look:

Sarah Jessica Parker Holding Out Hope For One More Sex And The City Movie

published: 2011-02-17 17:18:20 Author: Katey Rich
Because she doesn't know how to leave well enough alone, and because she's become very, very rich from playing Carrie Bradshaw over the course of 11 years, Sarah Jessica Parker is still keeping the dream of a third Sex and the City movie alive. No, really. Talking to The LA Times on the set of her next film I Don't Know How She Does It, Parker dropped a pretty substantial hint that, should the moment arrive, she'd step right back into Carrie's obscenely expensive shoes:

"I'd definitely tell that [third] story, and I know Michael would do it right. But maybe not now. Maybe in five years, you know?"

"It's not that I want to get away from [SATC]. In a million years, who could get away from it it? [But] if I'm not scared again that's not good for me. That's literally no good for me. If I'm not terrified and nauseous and worried the first two weeks of production, then what's going to happen? You could wither on the vine. It's like if you can't use your leg. It just atrophies."

There's so much to say here, starting with reminding Parker that maybe being scared during a production is actually a bad sign, but I refuse to take this too seriously. A new Sex and the City movie would require the other three actresses from the show to sign on, and based on some recent quotes they mostly seem pretty ready to move on with their lives. Sure Parker wants to make it happen-- she wants that fourth vacation home, like we all do-- but I'm not taking this an actual threat without more evidence that Warner Bros., which owns the rights to the franchise, is equally interested.

Something Borrowed Trailer: Kate Hudson Steals Ginnifer Goodwin's Man

published: 2011-02-17 16:02:43 Author: Josh Tyler
I root for Ginnifer Goodwin. She’s the most underrated part of TV’s Big Love and she’s consistently good in almost everything she shows up in, even if she’s showing up in something as terrible as He’s Just Not That Into You. I’ll even be rooting for her in Something Borrowed, which is a Kate Hudson movie, and thus can be immediately dismissed as being terrible.

For that matter there’s probably no point in watching the movie’s trailer. It’s a Kate Hudson movie which means catty bitches fighting about weddings or trying to ruin each other’s relationships. That’s what she does, and it might be ok, except she doesn’t seem to do it well. Here’s the trailer for Something Borrowed, here newest travesty, in which she’ll drag Ginnifer Goodwin and John Krasinski down with her.

There's no point in watching it, but just in case you disagree and have actually found something of value somewhere in Kate's career, we're bringing the Something Borrowed trailer to you anyway. You're welcome, I think. Watch:

Trailer For Girl Walks Into A Bar

published: 2011-02-17 16:48:23 Author: Mack Rawden
I’ve just watched the trailer for Girl Walks Into A Bar, and it’s somehow more bizarre than I expected. Hip, with a classic vibe, smart, with a dash of naked ping pong, and sexy, with a whiff of dangerous, the teaser is like Get Shorty meets Chicago crossed with The Ten. Think of it like making soup when you’re drunk. You add broth to the basic ingredients and then you just throw shit in. Most of the time it sucks, but every now and again, it’s like a whole new world opened up. Of course chicken noodle soup tastes better if you substitute chicken for smoked sausage! How could I have missed this combination for years?

Girl Walks Into A Bar is the story of a dentist putting out a hit on his wife. Overly frugal and not content to let the whole thing play out he intercedes, mucking up not only the assassin’s plan but the evenings of a whole host of Los Angeles residents spread across ten different locations. It stars Danny DeVito, Josh Hartnett, Rosario Dawson, Carla Gugino and Zachary Quinto. Also, it’ll be available for free on the internet come March 11th. Here’s a look at the trailer…

Insidious Is In This New Horror Trailer

published: 2011-02-17 16:55:55 Author: Will LeBlanc
I can’t decide how I feel about Insidious yet. It stars some under-the-radar actors that I thoroughly enjoy like Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne, it seems like it’ll be a scary thrill ride, but something doesn’t feel right. Maybe it’s the “it’s not the house that’s haunted...it’s your son” line that reminds me so much of Paranormal Activity’s hook, or maybe its that it could easily fall into the Haunting in Connecticut realm where great acting is alarmingly overshadowed by a terribly weak story.

This new trailer for Insidious insists heavily and often that you don’t forget the name of the movie before its unfortunate release date on April Fools Day. It’s attractively edited, save for the titles, and it will leave you saying, “yup, it’s a horror movie.” It seems so far like a movie worth seeing, and that it grabbed some praise at TIFF bodes well for this, Saw director James Wan’s latest.

Trailer and 4 Images for GIRL WALKS INTO A BAR Starring Carla Gugino, Zachary Quinto, and Rosario Dawson

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: February 17th, 2011

The trailer for Girl Walks into a Bar has gone online.  The film has an impressive cast that includes Carla Gugino, Zachary Quinto, Danny DeVito, Josh Hartnett, Rosario Dawson, Alexis Bledel, and Robert Forster.  Based solely on the trailer, I have no idea was to what the movie’s about.  But Girl’s hook doesn’t seem to be it’s cast or its story, but rather its distribution method.  Girl Walks into a Bar will be presented by Lexus and YouTube for free, exclusively on YouTube.  The money quote in the press release comes from Lexus VP of Marketing Dave Nordstrom:
“It seems fitting to support this initiative as we launch our most unconfined vehicle yet—the CT 200h hybrid —in a space that we know will reach an unconventional, sophisticated audience.” (emphasis mine)
Clearly, Mr. Nordstrom has never been on YouTube.  Hit the jump to check out the trailer, four images from the film, and the full press release.  Girl Walks into a Bar goes online March 11th.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead, NOT Robin McLeavy, Cast as Mary Todd Lincoln in ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: February 17th, 2011

So you remember how earlier this week we told you that Robin McLeavy was going to be playing Mary Todd Lincoln in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter?  Yeah…well, you see that’s a funny thing because now Heat Vision is reporting that the role is going Mary Elizabeth Winstead.  Winstead has been on a bit of a hot-streak lately when it comes to circling high-profile projects.  She was in the running for Cameron Crowe’s We Bought a Zoo (the role went to Scarlett Johansson), SHIELD Agent Maria Hill in The Avengers (the role went to How I Met Your Mother’s Cobie Smulders), and rumored for Lois Lane in Superman (along with every other young actress in Hollywood).
Winstead, who was last seen in theaters in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, will join rising stars Benjamin Walker, Anthony Mackie, and Dominic Cooper in Timur Bekmambetov’s 3D adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel.  She’ll next been seen in Matthijs van Heijningen’s remake/prequel The ThingAbraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is due out June 22, 2012.  Hit the jump for a synopsis of the novel.

HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS, Starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, Set for March 2, 2012

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: February 17th, 2011

Paramount has set Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters for March 2, 2012.  The film spins the Grimm fairy tale to where Hansel and Gretel are now adults (played by Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, respectively) and bounty-hunters who specialize in the witch-killin’ business.  Famke Janssen will play the leader of the witches.  Will Ferrell, Chris Henchy, Adam McKay, and Kevin J. Messick will produce with Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola at the helm.
Currently, the only competition Hansel & Gretel will have that weekend is the animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax.  Both films are currently set to be released in 3D. [Deadline]
