**Bradley Cooper Wants The Great Gatsby **Over 70 New Images from Terrence Malick’s THE TREE OF LIFE Starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn **Marisa Tomei and Sarah Jessica Parker in Talks to Star in MARRIED AND CHEATING **Michelle Rodriguez in Talks for "The Home" Horror Thriller

Bradley Cooper Wants The Great Gatsby

Bradley Cooper wants to play one of the title characters in Baz Luhrmann's upcoming The Great Gatsby adaptation: Jay Gatsby's rival Tom Buchanan.

"To me, he's the best character in the book. He's so complicated," Bradley Cooper said. "He's xenophobic, he's an alcoholic, but he also understands some profound stuff about class. Whoever plays it has to take a gentle hand, because it could so easily be stock, where he's a rich jerk you don't identify with at all."

"I don't even know if I'm on Baz Luhrmann's radar," he said. "Maybe he'll read this article after the role's cast and say, 'Oh. Ha. Yeah, that guy was never going to get it.' "

But director Baz Luhrmann recently said that on The Great Gatsby won't be happening anytime soon.

The adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's Long Island-set novel, where Midwesterner Nick Carraway is lured into the lavish world of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby. Soon enough, however, Carraway will see through the cracks of Gatsby's nouveau riche existence, where obsession, madness, and tragedy await.

The Great Gatsby comes to theaters in 2012 and stars Carey Mulligan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire. The film is directed by Baz Luhrmann.

Marisa Tomei and Sarah Jessica Parker in Talks to Star in MARRIED AND CHEATING

by Matt Goldberg Posted: March 13th, 2011

Marisa Tomei and Sarah Jessica Parker may join the indie comedy Married and Cheating. Written and directed by Raymond De Felitta (City Island), the film is set in New York and Paris and “concerns three married couples struggling to find happiness.” Groundswell and Lauren Versel of Lucky Monkey Pictures are producing. A spokesperson for Groundswell tells Variety that no deals are done because the project is still gathering financing.

Parker is attached to the comedies I Don’t Know How She Does It and the Valentine’s Day pseudo-sequel New Year’s Eve. As for Tomei, she’ll be constant presence in theaters throughout 2011. On Friday she’ll be seen in The Lincoln Lawyer, she co-stars in the upcoming comedies Salvation Boulevard and Crazy, Stupid, Love, and she’s currently filming on George Clooney’s political drama The Ides of March, which is due out October 14th.

Marisa Tomei And Sarah Jessica Parker Circling Married And Cheating published: 2011-03-12 15:52:17 Author: Mack Rawden

If I told you a sports movie was coming out and gave you no other information, what would you guess might be the vague construction of its plot? New coach comes aboard to impart winning attitude on hapless team. What about a horror movie? Psychopath terrorizes group of friends, mowing them down one by one. What about an independent film? That one’s a little harder, but I bet if I gave you three guesses one of them would involve philandering spouses. These story arcs might seem repetitive, to a degree they certainly are, but they exist because they’re proven winners. In the end, it doesn’t matter if the territory has been covered before, as long as the film has something new to say about it. Let’s hope that’s the case with Raymond de Felitta’s newest.

According to Variety, it’s aptly titled Married And Cheating, and it follows three couples as they navigate the ups and downs of their lives and deal with the ramifications of their decisions. The always reliable Marisa Tomei is negotiating to star alongside Sarah Jessica Parker, provided the financing comes together. These deals are always a bit dicey as you can’t sign anyone until the money’s done, but you can’t get money until people are signed. As a result, most of the time people verbally commit, checks are signed and then it all gets formalized.

I can’t help but be reminded of the underseen Your Friends And Neighbors. The Ben Stiller relationships indie never really caught on with viewers, but if Married And Cheating proves to be half as brilliant, we’ll all be in for something special.

Michelle Rodriguez in Talks for "The Home" Horror Thriller

Posted: March 14th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

IndieWire had the chance to speak to Michelle Rodriguez who revealed that she will is in talks to star in "The Home" horror film, which is set to be directed by Kristoffer Aaron Morgan.

"More likely than not I'll be doing that this summer over there, they're getting production set up now," she said. Shooting will take place in Texas and co-star Brian Cox, Cloris Leachman, Louis Gossett Jr, and Ed Asner.

Plot: A young man is nearly killed during a horrible accident that leaves him physically and emotionally scarred. To recuperate, he is taken to a secluded nursing home where the elderly residents appear to be suffering from delusions. But after witnessing a violent attack, he soon realizes that the screams behind the walls are caused by more than hallucinations and the residents are being preyed upon by twisted, monstrous nightmares that lurk within the home itself.

Michelle Rodriguez Probably In For Robert Rodriguez Horror Flick The Home

published: 2011-03-13 13:47:32 Author: Mack Rawden

The horror game is typically fodder for the younger generations and as such, usually stars teenagers or twenty-somethings. Not The Home. The Robert Rodriguez produced thriller is set in a rehab community troubled by numerous reports from elderly patients of things going bump in the night. At first the happenings are pawned off as dementia side effects, but after an injured firefighter moves in, the claims are taken a lot more seriously. Rumors have everyone from Brian Cox to Cloris Leachman to Ed Asner on board, but we finally have some sort of confirmation from Michelle Rodriguez of all people. She'll probably be in it.

According to Indie Wire, the Avatar actress revealed it's “more likely than not”. Take that wishy-washy commitment for what you will as she didn't even reveal what character she may play. With or without her, The Home plans to head into production this summer from a script penned by movie blogger Eric Vespe.

I will definitely see this film, but I'm still skeptical. The old people run amuck genre has produced a lot of great films, but it's also unleashed many more ultimately unsatisfying and borderline exploitative failures. For a movie with old people to work, they need to be treated like human beings. Being asked to laugh at them is annoying and cringe worthy, but laughing with them about their troubles is another matter entirely. I'm on board to see them battle the undead, not to giggle just because one of them said something overtly sexual or obscene.

Guillermo Del Toro Says "Hellboy 3" Isn't Happening
Posted: March 12th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Movieweb recently caught up with Guillermo Del Toro, who spoke about "Frankenstein," "At the Mountains of Madness," "Pacific Rim" and the third "Hellboy" movie.

While he respects Universal Pictures' decision not to fund "At the Mountains of Madness," he said that the plan is to one day develop the film. "A hundred percent I'll try," the director explained. "With a little bit of luck we will find good terms to get it back from Universal."

"Pacific Rim," which is Del Toro's next helming gig, has been in pre-production for six months. "I was developing the visual bible for that," he said. "We hope to start shooting this September."

Regarding "Frankenstein," Del Toro has a meeting with Universal set for next week. Unfortunately, there are no meeting coming up about "Hellboy 3," because according to Del Toro: "There are no plans at all [for 'Hellboy 3']."

Danny Huston Joins Nic Cage As He Tries To Find His Daughter In Medallion
published: 2011-03-12 10:55:56 Author: Mack Rawden
What do coaches tell professional athletes in the middle of a cold streak? Think about the fundamentals, get back to basics, we still have confidence in you. The same message should ring true for actors with a few flops in a row. Trying new things is great, but in times of trouble, it's always best to steer your way out using what's worked before, and for Nicolas Cage that's a big budget action film that's approximately forty percent too ridiculous to actually happen. Drive Angry 3D and that Witch one went a little too far, but this new scaled-back project Medallionshould do the trick, especially now that Danny Huston is on board.

If you, like most people, didn't see last year's Warrior's Way, you missed out on a truly epic villain performance from Huston. Murdering, raping and slaying ninjas, he was a true original, and with any luck director Simon West will let him go for it in Medallion too. According to IndieWire, the actor has officially boarded the thriller, which will see West reteam with his Con Air star Nic Cage. The plot follows a criminal (Cage) as he enlists his partner (Malin Akerman) to find his kidnapped daughter hidden somewhere in the trunk of a taxi cab. Asses will be kicked, heads will roll and hopefully, people will shell out to see it.

Medallion is about to start shooting in New Orleans. There's no official release date, but if it ends up being as good as it could be, next summer is probably a good guess.

Over 70 Photos From The Tree of Life
Source: Kinopoisk.ru March 13, 2011

Some interesting news items have come online (and disappeared) about Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life recently. From visual effects supervisor Dan Glass saying a bit too much about certain creatures appearing in the film (hence the pulled articles), to the running time being revealed as 2 hours and 18 minutes.

Now comes a rather large gallery of photos from the film at Kinopoisk.ru (via TheFilmStage.com). The pictures feature mostly Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain. You can check them out by clicking here or on the photo below!
Opening in limited theaters on May 27, The Tree of Life is the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950's. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. Through Malick's signature imagery, we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life.

Streisand's Gypsy is a No-Go
Source: The Hartford Courant , Edward Douglas March 12, 2011

Back in January, there was a report in the New York Times that Barbara Streisand had met with Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurents, co-writers of the 1959 Broadway musical Gypsy, to talk to them about playing Mama Rose in a movie version of the musical.

Well, it looks like that movie may not happen now according to Laurents, who spoke to the Hartford Courant's Frank Rizzo about how the project came together and how it now seems to not be happening anymore.

According to Laurents, it's Sondheim himself who questioned the reasons for making a movie based on their musical. Laurents told Rizzo the following story about talking with his partner who got cold feet:

"He said, 'What is the point of it?' And I said, 'They have this terrible version with Rosalind Russell wearing those black and white shoes.' And then Sondheim told me something that he got from the British -- and it's wonderful. He said, 'You want a record because the theater is ephemeral. But that's wrong. The theater's greatest essence is that it is ephemeral. You don't need a record. The fact that it's ephemeral means you can have different productions, different Roses on into infinity.'

"So I don't want it now. I don't want a definitive record. I want it to stay alive."

Laurents goes on to say that Streisand is disappointed with Sondheim's decision, especially because Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) was interested in directing the movie.

Streisand is staying busy following her appearance in Little Fockers by co-starring in the Seth Rogen comedy My Mother's Curse for Paramount with Anne (The Proposal) Fletcher directing.

Luke Evans to Star in The Amateur American
Source: FilmNation Entertainment March 11, 2011

FilmNation Entertainment and Likely Story have cast Luke Evans (Clash of the Titans, Tamara Drewe) to star in the action film The Amateur American. With shooting scheduled to start in Europe in September, the film will be produced by FilmNation Entertainment's Aaron Ryder and Likely Story's Anthony Bregman. FilmNation will also be handling international sales.

Based on the novel of the same title by J. Saunders Elmore, The Amateur American is written and will be directed by DGA-WGA Winner Ross Katz (HBO Films' "Taking Chance"), who also produced In the Bedroom and Lost in Translation. FilmNation's Ryder said: "We had the pleasure of working with Luke on The Raven and his performance in it is extraordinary. He is an ideal contemporary leading man."

Likely Story's Bregman adds: "Welshman Luke Evans is in fact an amateur American, but now he is our Amateur American -- which means he will now be duped, seduced, imprisoned, shot at, chased, and nearly killed by all manner of professional Europeans. We can't wait!"

Evans recently wrapped production on The Raven alongside John Cusack, and can next be seen in Summit's The Three Musketeers with Logan Lerman and Orlando Bloom, and Tarsem Singh's Immortals alongside Henry Cavill.
