Tommy Lee Jones is the latest actor to join the cast of Great Hope Springs. Directed by David Frankel, Meryl Streep and Steve Carell are poised to star in the film that centers on a longtime couple who decides to undergo intense marriage counseling. Jones will play Streep’s husband, while Carell is set to play a relationship guru. Mike Nichols was previously circling the project as his next directorial vehicle, but he subsequently dropped out.
The screenplay, written by Vanessa Taylor, landed on the Black List. Production on Great Hope Springs is set to start this August, with a 4th quarter 2012 release date being eyed. Based on the premise, a holiday release a la It’s Complicated seems likely. Hit the jump to read the full press release, as well as the official synopsis.

Renny Harlin on "The Long Kiss Goodnight" Sequel
Posted: May 20th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Back in 2007, Samuel L Jackson revealed that he has been talking to director Renny Harlin about developing a sequel to the 1996 thriller "The Long Kiss Goodnight."
He said that Geena Davis will not be returning. Instead, the film will concentrate on Samantha's daughter, Caitlin, who is all grown up and wants to find out who killed her mother. As a result she contacts Mitch (Jackson), as he is the only connection to her mom and might just know who to talk to.
DenOfGeek now caught up with Harlin, who said: "I'm right now looking for a writer who would have the same incredible sensibilities in terms of character, humor and action. Sam [Jackson] is 100% committed, he's 100% on board."
He added: "My plan is to focus on a story about Geena's daughter, who was six years old in the original and would now be about twenty-one. It's actually gonna be sort of a buddy story between Geena's daughter and Sam."

Trailer: Jay Baruchel's "Good Neighbors" Thriller
Posted: May 19th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Magnolia Pictures has unveiled the trailer for the upcoming "Good Neighbors" thriller, starring Jay Baruchel (The Sorcerer's Apprentice), Scott Speedman (The Strangers) and Emily Hampshire. Check it out below.
Plot: Neighbors Spencer (Speedman) and Louise (Hampshire) have bonded over their fascination with a recent string of murders terrorizing their community. When a new tenant named Victor (Baruchel) arrives in the building, all three quickly hit it off. But as they soon discover, each of them has their own dark secret. As the violence outside mounts, the city retreats indoors for safety. But the more time these three spend together in their apartment building, the clearer it becomes that what they once thought of as a safe haven is as dangerous as any outside terrors they could imagine.
The new movie is written and directed by Jacob Tierney (The Trotsky) and is set to hit theaters on July 29th, in limited release. The film will also be released on iTunes on June 24th.

First Trailer and Poster for GOOD NEIGHBORS Starring Jay Baruchel, Emily Hampshire, and Scott Speedman

Magnolia has released the first trailer and poster for Good Neighbors, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival late last year. Jay Baruchel, Emily Hampshire, and Scott Speedman star as three tenants in the same building. The exact nature of the story is hard to pin down based on the trailer, except that the plot is driven by the secrets and fear of our main characters. This is the second time writer/director Jacob Tierney has worked with Baruchel following The Trotsky, and he appears to have a knack for harnessing Baruchel’s innate weirdness for the purposes of evil.
I feel like I am doing a terrible job at selling this. In my defense, the official TIFF description warns, “Good Neighbors may sound like a thriller, but its relationship to the genre is quite complicated.” So I’ll be more direct: the trailer is worth your time. Watch it after the jump.

Heather Graham, Dev Patel and Lili Taylor in Talks to Join James Franco in CHERRY
by Adam Chitwood Posted: May 18th, 2011 at 6:07 pm
A trio of actors are currently in negotiations to star alongside James Franco in the Stephen Elliott-directed Cherry. Variety reports that Heather Graham, Dev Patel and Lili Taylor are in talks to star in the film, which pits Franco as a cocaine-addicted lawyer. The story revolves around an 18-year-old girl who moves to San Francisco and joins the porn industry. She becomes involved with Franco’s character.
Returning to familiar territory, Graham is eyeing the role of a former porn star turned director who takes an interest in the young girl. Patel would play the girl’s best friend who just happens to also be in love with her, while Taylor will play the girl’s alcoholic mother. Elliot and Lorelei Lee co-wrote the script. Production is set to begin next month in San Francisco, after Franco wraps The Stare with Winona Ryder. He’ll begin shooting Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful this August, bringing his grand total of movies filmed in 2011 to about 37.

Trailer for I MELT WITH YOU Starring Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe and Jeremy Piven
by Adam Chitwood Posted: May 18th, 2011 at 4:39 pm

After those extremely creepy teasers that were released for Mark Pellington’s (The Mothman Prophecies) polarizingly dark drama I Melt With You, I really wasn’t sure what to expect from the actual film. Well, now the trailer for the flick has been released, and it’s equally creepy. It appears to be a very twisted version of The Big Chill, with Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe and Jeremy Piven starring as three friends who share a vital secret. They go away together and apparently go insane. Magnolia acquired the film at Sundance and is set to release it sometime this year. Hit the jump to check out the trailer for I Melt With You.
