Lindsay Lohan Might Not Be in GOTTI: THREE GENERATIONS After All
by Jason Barr Posted: May 12th, 2011 at 3:18 pm

As of now, the confusion regarding Lindsay Lohan’s status in director Barry Levinson’s Gotti: Three Generations is rivaled only by the confusion regarding her life in general. Back when Nick Cassavetes was still directing, Lohan was in talks to play Gotti’s daughter, Victoria. Then, after Cassavetes’ departure, she dropped out of the film for a hot minutes only to rejoin the project as Gotti Jr.’s wife. Flash forward to the present, and TheWrap reports that Lohan is probably on the outs once again. In an exclusive with Levinson, the director states that “She’s possibly not (in the film) because she’s got her issues, and we also got to write the script, and then we’ll see where it is.” Not exactly a ringing endorsement of the oft-publicized actress…
Regardless of Lohan’s inclusion, Gotti: Three Generations will almost definitely star John Travolta as John Gotti Sr. and Al Pacino as crime family underboss Neil Dellacroce. Levinson also confirms that the film will most likely be in front of cameras by the end of the year.

Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen to Star in VERY GOOD GIRLS Alongside Dustin Hoffman and Sissy Spacek
by Adam Chitwood Posted: May 12th, 2011 at 4:05 pm

Dakota Fanning and Sundance breakout Elizabeth Olsen have joined the cast of Very Good Girls alongside Dustin Hoffman, Sissy Spacek and Peter Sarsgaard. Written and to be directed by Namoi Foner (Running on Empty), the film tells the story of two teenage girls in New York City who decide to lose their virginity the summer after they graduate high school. Things get complicated, however, when they both fall for the same charismatic street artist (I hate it when that happens).
Olsen broke out in a big way at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, thanks in part to her harrowing turn in the drama Martha Marcy May Marlene, the creepy trailer for which was just released last week. Variety reports that production on Very Good Girls starts this September.

Alex Pettyfer Will Play Channing Tatum in MAGIC MIKE
by Jason Barr Posted: May 12th, 2011 at 4:55 pm

A couple of weeks ago, we brought you the news that Steven Soderbergh will be directing Magic Mike, a male stripper film inspired by and starring Channing Tatum. Tonight, Deadline confirms that Alex Pettyfer will be playing the role of Channing Tatum alongside, you guessed it, Channing Tatum. Confused yet? Let’s have a quick review: Channing Tatum has a foray into male stripping around the tender age of 19 (pretty standard stuff, right?). He is now, for all intents and purposes, a movie star. Star presence in hand, Tatum pitches the idea for Magic Mike to director Steven Soderbergh who quickly accepts calling it “…one of the best ideas I’d ever heard for a movie.” Now, Tatum will play the lead role of “Mike” a dance/stripper teacher who shows Pettyfer’s character (Tatum’s 19 year-old-stripping self) the dance/stripping ropes.
Hopefully this helps clear up any confusion surrounding Pettyfer’s turn as Tatum in Magic Mike. Penned by Reid Carolin, the film is described as a “story of friendship set in the world of male strippers.” Apparently it takes place during a “wild summer” and lots of “dancing, partying, and women” are involved. Sounds great to me. By Soderbergh’s own previous admission, Saturday Night Fever will be a heavy influence for Magic Mike. Production details for the project are currently undisclosed.

Ashton Kutcher to Join TWO AND A HALF MEN
by Adam Chitwood Posted: May 12th, 2011 at 6:28 pm

It looks like the casting circus surrounding Two and a Half Men is finally over. Sources have confirmed to THR that Ashton Kutcher is putting the final touches on a deal to join the cast of the sitcom, filling the void left by Charlie Sheen after he decided acting sane was too much to ask of him for over $1 million per episode. The deal comes in the wake of Hugh Grant nearly joining the cast, only to pull out at the last minute over concerns about doing 20+ episodes of a TV series every year. No word on how Kutcher will be incorporated into the show, but one source lied that the storyline is “really funny.” I’m just baffled as to how this show is still a thing.
