Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood) has been trying to get his movie "The Master" off the ground for some time. But it is only recently that Megan Ellison, the daughter of multi-billionaire Larry Ellison, has stepped in to finance the $35 million film.

Now comes word that The Weinstein Company has won a bidding war for the worldwide distribution rights and has scheduled "The Master" to begin filming on June 13th. Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix are set to star.

Anderson has apparently re-written the script and now, Hoffman stars as a man who returns after witnessing the horrors of WWII and tries to re-discover who he is in post-war America. He creates a belief system, something that catches on with other lost souls.

Posted: May 9th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

James Wan's "Insidious" is the most profitable film of this year, having cost just above one million and has grossed over $50 million domestically.

Now comes word from the Cannes Film Festival that Wan has signed on to direct the supernatural thriller "Spectre" and Nicole Kidman is in talks to star. The budget will be under $10 million. Story details are being kept a secret.

Kidman has yet to be signed, but has expressed interest in the role. If cast, the actress will return to the genre after starring in "The Others," back in 2001.

"Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D" Begins Filming Next Month

Posted: May 10th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Lionsgate announced that it is moving forward with "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D," and has set filming to begin next month. "Takers" helmer John Luessenhop is on board to direct.

"I'm excited to re-conceive this iconic horror classic in a contemporary setting for a new generation of horror fans to enjoy," said producer Carl Mazzocone. "Our story picks up where the original left off. Both John Luessenhop and I intend to deliver a new chapter derived from Tobe Hooper's 1973 masterpiece with the goal of making it as horrifying as the original -- in 3D!"

The plan is to have the film in theaters by 2013.

Mazzocone owns the rights to the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" franchise. Under his deal, he has the right to make up to six future sequels.
