James Franco and Cate Blanchett Drop Out of WHILE WE’RE YOUNG
by Brendan Bettinger Posted: March 6th, 2011
Noah Baumbach (Greenberg) had an excellent cast lined up for his next feature: Ben Stiller, Greta Gerwig, James Franco, Cate Blanchett. It is with great regret that I use the past tense. Scheduling issues kept Gerwig from committing, and Just Jared reports that Franco and Blanchett have dropped out. Filming on While We’re Young was set to begin in New York in June, but Franco will be busy shooting Oz, the Great and Powerful. Blanchett’s motivation is not specified, but it’s possible there is overlap with her time on set for the sure-to-be sprawling production on The Hobbit, which starts shooting later this month. Adam Shankman Confirms Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige, Tom Cruise, and Julianne Hough for ROCK OF AGES
by Brendan Bettinger Posted: March 6th, 2011
Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige, and Julianne Hough have spent recent weeks negotiating with New Line to star in Rock of Ages. Director Adam Shankman (Hairspray) has confirmed their involvement via Twitter. Shankman also promises “more to come,” which may address the rumored involvement of Anne Hathaway, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Russell Brand.

Justin Theroux (Iron Man 2) is currently polishing the script written by Allan Loeb (The Switch) based on the Broadway musical about a small town girl (Hough) who falls in love with a rocker in the fictionally famous LA rock club, The Bourbon Club. Set in 1987, the stage show is fueled by the hair metal of the era, including songs by Journey, Night Ranger, Styx, REO Speedwagan, Pat Benatar, and Twisted Sister.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Considering "Terminator," "Predator" and "Running Man" Remakes
Posted: March 7th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
We've been hearing that Arnold Schwarzenegger is planning to return to acting and is already considering one of three scripts. Now, during The Arnold Classic, Schwarzenegger was asked to give an update on which projects he's looking at.

"Well, first of all it's more [like] fifteen films," he stated. "Obvious ones from 'The Terminator' to remakes of 'Predator' and 'The Running Man' and all of those things. Then also a lot of original stuff too."

It was reported last month that director Justin Lin and writer Chris Morgan, who are currently working on "Fast Five" together, are in talks for a fifth "Terminator" movie. And having Schwarzenegger on board would be amazing.

Schwarzenegger added: "I am also packaging a comic book character right now. I'm going to announce that sometime by the end of March or the beginning of April."

De Niro Confirms I Heard You Paint Houses With Scorsese, Pacino And Pesci

published: 2011-03-06 12:30:19 Author: Perri Nemiroff
For anyone that keeps an eye on movie development news, you know that sometimes stars say things that aren’t exactly true or talk about potential projects that aren’t guarantees in the least. Well, that’s kind of what we have here, but the fact that the news comes from Robert De Niro certainly gives the information a great deal of authenticity. When the guy talks, you just believe him.

We heard a little about Martin Scorsese’s plan to direct a film version of Charles Brandt’s book I Heard You Paint Houses with De Niro starring, way back in
October 2008. Since then, it’s merely been rumblings of Joe Pesci and Al Pacino’s potential involvement. Well, now the foursome seems like a sure thing because while promoting his upcoming film Limitless, De Niro flat out said:
It’s a movie based on a book called I Heard You Paint Houses. It’s about a guy who is - and I believe the book – says he’s now passed away, but he confessed that he killed Hoffa and also Joe Gallo over here on Hester Street. And so I’m going to play that character, Joe Pesci’s gonna be in it and Al Pacino is going to be in it and Marty’s going to direct it.
Still not quite convinced? De Niro had a feeling. The actor also added, “I’d never say it if I didn’t really fully have us all, you know, committed.”

De Niro didn’t mention when the camera might start rolling, but when it does, he’ll be playing Frank “the Irishman” Sheeran, a man who put his violent side to use during World War II only to return to the states to become a hit man working closely with notorious mob boss Russell Bufalino. It’s Bufalino that put Sheeran in touch with Jimmy Hoffa, kicking off their friendship. When Hoffa disappeared, Sheeran was a top suspect.

The materials are there, the film’s got a fantastic director and cast, now we’ve just got to wait for that green light. While I’m always hesitant of being prematurely optimistic, who argues with De Niro? My money is on this film happening sooner rather than later.
