Sam Worthington (Avatar, Clash of the Titans) will star in Drift, reports Variety.

The film, financed by Screen Australia, is a drama set in the surfing world.

"'Drift' combines serious Australian talent both in front of and behind the camera with [co-helmers] Morgan O'Neill and Ben Nott, together with Sam Worthington who has been in some of the highest grossing international films of the last few years," said acting Screen Australia's Fiona Cameron.

She added that "The unique combination of surfing and performance expertise gives 'Drift' the potential to be the first character-driven action movie set in the surfing world since Kathryn Bigelow's 'Point Break.'"

Richard Linklater is in talks with Warner Bros. to direct the studio's The Incredible Mr. Limpet, reports 24 Frames.

The movie is a remake of the 1964 Don Knotts film classic about milquetoast Henry Limpet, who experiences his fondest wish and is transformed into a fish. As a talking fish he assists the US Navy in hunting German submarines during World War II. The original film was based on the novel by Theodore Pratt.

Enchanted director Kevin Lima was previously attached to direct. Zach Galifianakis was also said to be in talks for the lead role, but that was not confirmed.

Sandman Still Happening!
Source: Twitter March 15, 2011

In a very exciting turn of events for fans of Neil Gaiman's "Sandman," it seems that yesterday's reports of the television series' development delay are not entirely accurate. Comic book author and DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns has just Tweeted that the series is, indeed, moving forward and, best of all, he'll be working alongside Gaiman to bring Dream to the small screen.

"Correction to world," Johns says, "The Sandman is AWAKE! :) Psyched to be working with [Neil] on developing one of the greatest series ever!"

He then adds:

"Sandman in any form - comics to live action - doesn't work without [Neil]"

Speculation suggests that Eric Kripke's comments yesterday indicate that he is no longer involved with the project's development and, while fans may be dismayed by the "Supernatural" creator's theoretical departure, having Gaiman on board is surely a creative coup for all involved.

Sandman, which launched DC Comic's Vertigo imprint, ran for 75 issues beginning in 1989. Gaiman's worlds-within-worlds weaved an episodic anthology, focusing on the allegorical character of Dream and his brothers and sisters, known as the Endless (Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium, Destruction and Destiny).

Confirmation and additional information should be available shortly, but, in the meantime, "Sandman" fans should start getting excited.
