But in reality, trying to mother Rebecca and Cecil, who clearly don’t want her around, is her toughest challenge yet. Here’s what the 28-year-old Happy Endings actress had to share:
On Alex, her Happy Endings character: “I’m more like this character than any other character I’ve played. Though [Alex] has an airiness about her whereas I’m more neurotic, more intense. I’m a pretty deep thinker.”
On her parents letting her move to Hollywood on her own at age 18: “They knew I was mature enough and not one of those wild children. This was my college experience, really.”
On making an effort to reform her shopping habits: “There was a time that I was splurging quite a bit on fashion but then I realized, I’m going to be broke! I realized I had to find a way to express myself without being covered head to toe in designer clothing. I mix it up now.”
On cheering on her boyfriend, Toronto Maple Leaf Dion Phaneuf: “I love to watch him play.”

Here’s what the 22-year-old X-Men: First Class actress had to share:
On being called an “it girl”: “All that ‘it girl’ s— makes me kind of uncomfortable. I’m only at the beginning of my career, but I feel successful in that I haven’t sold out in any way, shape or form. I feel good about the choices I’ve made, and I don’t feel like I’ve let go of any of my values. Fame has become this obsession for people, which kind of creeps me out.”
On loving London: “We (boyfriend Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult) were living in London for four months and it was like X-Men summer camp, so we all hung out at each other’s houses after filming, went out to pubs…I lived in Notting Hill, right by Portobello…I’m spending all my money on flea-market shopping!”
On finding fashion inspiration from her parents: “I used to be a little embarrassed by how she (mom Lisa Bonet) and my dad (Lenny Kravitz) would dress…but now I steal their clothes all the time.”

On how her parents reacted to her career choice: “Mothers will always worry about their children. It’s no different in my case, but I am grateful to have come from a traditional family. My parents are supportive of me and are very excited to see The Hangover Part II!”
On going out of her comfort zone:“I enjoy challenging myself physically and mentally with roles that push me beyond my comfort zone. I try to switch things up, whether it’s comedy, drama or action. I want to continuously evolve. I always ask myself: Can I make this part into something spectacular?”

New Set Photo from ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER plus Hi-Res Version of Previously Released Image

by Matt Goldberg   Posted: May 11th, 2011 at 12:09 pm

Filming on Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is underway. Fox has released a hi-res version of the image released earlier this week.  There’s also a set photo that shows Bekmambetov directing star Benjamin Walker as Abraham Lincoln sans beard and sans vampire hunting.
Hit the jump to check out both images.  The film also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Anthony Mackie, Dominic Cooper, Alan Tudyk, Jimmi Simpson, and Refus Sewell.  Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter opens in 3D on June 22, 2012.

New GREEN LANTERN Poster Featuring Hector Hammond

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: May 11th, 2011 at 12:14 pm

A new Green Lantern poster has been released, this time focusing on villain Hector Hammond, played by Peter Sarsgaard. It’s a pretty spot-on poster, with Hammond making the obligatory “evil plan” face. It also serves as a reminder of just how grotesque Hammond becomes later on in the film, as witnessed in the trailer. I’ve been impressed by the footage we’ve seen so far, and I’m really hoping the finished product delivers.
Hit the jump to check out the poster. Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, and Peter Sarsgaard.  The film opens in 3D on June 17th.

Eric Stonestreet and Wentworth Miller Join Indie Thriller LOFT

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: May 11th, 2011 at 12:45 pm

Eric Stonestreet is a scene stealer on ABC’s Modern Family but he’s about to made a radical departure as he’s in final negotiations to star in the dark indie thriller Loft.  Variety reports that Wentworth Miller (Prison Break) is also set to join the film, “which follows five married friends who share a loft where each of them bring their mistresses. When the body of an unknown woman is found in the loft, they begin to suspect one another of murder.”  As we reported back in February, the film also stars Patrick Wilson and James Marsden.  This cast and premise offers the possibility for a tight, claustrophobic thriller…or it could end up like 2006’s disappointing Unknown (as opposed to 2011’s disappointing Unknown).  Screenwriter Wesley Strick (the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street) adapted Bart De Pauw’s original screenplay for the 2008 Belgian film of the same name.  Erik Van Looy directed that film and will return to helm the remake.
While I’ll be interested in seeing Stonestreet in such a different role from Modern Family’s Cam, he’ll next be seen in the R-rated comedy Bad Teacher and the family film The Muppets.  As for Miller, he’s signed on to the indie drama Analog.  He also wrote the script Stoker, which will be directed by Chan-wook Park (Oldboy).

Trailer and Poster for HORRIBLE BOSSES Starring Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: May 11th, 2011 at 12:55 pm

The trailer for Horrible Bosses has gone online.  Directed by Seth Gordon (Four Christmases) the movie centers on three hapless employees (played by Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis) who conspire to kill each other’s horrible bosses (played by Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, and Jennifer Aniston).  While I’m eager to see what a red-band trailer might hold, there are plenty of good jokes in this green-band trailer.  As usual, Bateman is terrific (his dry delivery at the end of the trailer is golden), but there doesn’t seem to be a weak link in the cast.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer as well as the teaser poster.  The film also stars Jamie Foxx, Donald Sutherland, and Julie Bowen.  Horrible Bosses opens July 8th.

The first official image from Robert Rodriguez’ Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World has gone online.  The sequel/reboot stars Jessica Alba as former spy Marissa Cortez Wilson.  Marissa is called back into action when the villainous Timekeeper (Jeremy Piven) threatens to take over the planet.  The eponymous espionage children are Rebecca (Rowan Blanchard) and Cecil (Mason Cook) who get into the spy game as they accompany their step-mom on the adventure.  I’m slightly surprised that the new film also features a spy toddler, but I guess if you want to reboot a franchise, you have to get new cast members as young as possible.
Hit the jump to check out the image.  The film also stars Antonio Banderas, Alexa Vega, Daryl Sabara, and Danny Trejo. Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World opens in 3D on August 19, 2011.

Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, and Josh Brolin in Talks to Star in GANGSTER SQUAD [Updated]

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: April 21st, 2011

Last month, we reported that Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling had been offered roles in Ruben Fleischer’s 1940s crime-drama Gangster Squad.  Today, TheWrap is reporting that while Penn and Gosling are still in talks to play legendary gangster Mickey Cohen and a cop working to bring him to justice, respectively, Josh Brolin has been offered a role of a cop who would work alongside Gosling in their fight against Cohen.  Will Beall wrote the script based on a series of articles by Paul Lieberman.
Of course, it’s not difficult to offer an actor a role in a movie and we don’t know how serious these negotiations are at this point.  However, a cast led by Penn, Gosling, and Brolin would be an impressive display of acting talent. [Update: Variety reports all three actors are in active negotiations and that "Penn is nearing a deal to star and with Penn, every other offer was expected to fall into place."]

Red-Band Trailer for 30 MINUTES OR LESS Starring Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari

by Matt Goldberg  Posted: April 21st, 2011

The trailer for the upcoming comedy 30 Minutes or Less has gone online.  The film stars Jesse Eisenberg as a hapless pizza delivery guy who is kidnapped by two wanna-be criminal masterminds (Danny McBride and Nick Swardson) and forced to rob a bank.  Directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), the film also stars Aziz Ansari and Michael Peña.  Even though this is a red-band trailer, there’s not a lot of profanity.  Instead, it gets laughs from funny dialogue and the chemistry between Eisenberg and Ansari.  What a mind-blowing concept.
Hit the jump to check out the red-band trailer.  30 Minutes or Less opens August 12th.
