Stellan Skarsgard To Be In The Avengers

published: 2011-03-04 16:45:54 Author: Eric Eisenberg
I've always found Stellan Skarsgård's involvement in Kenneth Branagh's Thor to be a bit funny. After all, his son, Alex, who is a mainstay on HBO's True Blood, was very much in the running for the title role before Chris Hemsworth landed the part. Now it turns out that not only will Stellan be playing a role in the solo superhero film, but he will be a part of Joss Whedon's Avengers as well. Expressen (via Bleeding Cool) has learned that Skarsgard's character in Thor will be included in the superhero team-up movie due out next year. The actor plays a character named Professor Andrews, and while very little is known about his character, he is a scientist that works in New Mexico along with Natalie Portman and Kat Dennings' characters. As of now, the Avengers crossover cast members include Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man; Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk; Chris Hemsworth as Thor; Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America; Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow; Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson; and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury (Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye will also count should his rumored cameo in Thor turn out to be real).

This now puts a lot of question marks around Skargard's character. What larger role does he play in the film? Is he, per chance a member of S.H.I.E.L.D? Guess we'll just have to wait until May 6 to find out.

Hal Jordan Looks Worried About His New Ring In Two New Green Lantern Stills

published: 2011-03-04 15:42:14 Author: Eric Eisenberg

If feels as though it's been forever since we last heard anything from Martin Campbell's The Green Lantern, and, in a way, that's true. Set to be released in June, the last image for the film came out all the way back in mid-January which feels like years ago in the middle of the Hollywood hype machine. Is it possible that they're waiting until they have the suit looking better before showing off the character again? These new stills would suggest yes, as neither one of them has Ryan Reynolds decked out as a green space ranger.

French website
MarveDC-Universe.com has posted two fresh, never before stills from the film. The first sees Hal Jordan, played by Reynolds, talking with his friend and fellow pilot Carol Ferris (Blake Lively) and the other features Hal looking worried as he is about to put on his power ring. You can also get a glimpse at the Green Lantern battery in the second shot.

Check out the new stills below and head over to

On the medieval costumes from Your Highness: “I had so many amazing costumes in the movie. They weren’t things I would normally wear. They were basically medieval gowns. It was really fun dressing up like I was going to a Renaissance fair for three months.”
On her personal style: “I would say girly, flirtatious, colorful.” She pauses mulling this over for a minute. “Feminine, maybe, and soft. But yeah, definitely colorful.”
On dressing up as a child: “I wanted to be really girly… like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. I’m still the same way.”

Abigail Breslin Also In Contention To Star In The Hunger Games

published: 2011-03-03 08:05:29 Author: Will LeBlanc
We reported yesterday that Jennifer Lawrence was reportedly joining Hailee Steinfeld in serious consideration to play Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, Lionsgate's planned adaptation of the young adult novel series that they're hoping will be the next Twilight. Now Variety is adding a third name to the list, and yet another Oscar nominee: Abigail Breslin.

Lawrence is apparently still in the lead, but the studio still hasn't decided if they want the character to play younger or older. If they go with Lawrence she may play too old by the time they get to the third book as she already looks older than her 20 years. Breslin or Steinfeld would grow into the role, and since Steinfeld is working of a recent Oscar nom, expect her to land it if she wants it.

The Hunger Games, which is set for a release date in March 2012, will be based on the first novel in Suzanne Collins's trilogy of books. The story is set in a destroyed North America run by the Capitol. Every year a boy and a girl are selected to participate in the Hunger Games where they must fight to the death as entertainment for the Capitol. Our hero, Katniss, volunteers to enter the games in place of her younger sister and this is where our story begins.

Hunger Games is a trilogy of novels so this could potentially be a big break for an up and coming young actress, not unlike the role of Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, except it plays younger. More on this as they near production.

Tom Cruise & Jeremy Renner Follow 'Ghost Protocol'

Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner continue to film for Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol on Wednesday (March 2) in Vancouver, Canada.
According to a blog post, a band called By Starlight was playing in Vancouver and abruptly stopped due to a conflict with the shooting of Mission Impossible 4. “The PA offered the band $500 to stop playing because it was interfering with filming. The band took the money and everyone went home,” the blogger alleged.
However, according to the venue’s manager, Jeff Cawston, “There was no issue whatsoever. The bands were made very much aware of the situation when they booked the venue. The story is not true. The bands played until one o’clock in the morning and everything was good.”

**Javier Bardem ‘Psychologically Confirmed’ to Star in Ron Howard’s THE DARK TOWER **Nicholas Hoult to Star in WARM BODIES **Josh Radnor Exclusive Interview HAPPYTHANKYOUMOREPLEASE **Eleanor Tomlinson Lands Female Lead in Bryan Singer’s JACK THE GIANT KILLER

Javier Bardem ‘Psychologically Confirmed’ to Star in Ron Howard’s THE DARK TOWER
by Adam Chitwood Posted: March 1st, 2011
Back in January, it was reported that actor Javier Bardem had been offered the lead role in Ron Howard’s ambitious three film/TV series adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower. While not much was heard after that, Howard’s producing partner Brian Grazer recently offered an update on Bardem’s involvement:
“Javier Bardem, that’s what we’re hoping. We’re in the process of trying to put that together. He’s locked in psychologically. He really wants to do it, so we’re absolutely rooting for him to do it.”
So it looks like Bardem’s keen to take the role on, and he’s currently in the negotiating phase. This could take a while, given that if he signs on it will likely be for three films and one “season” of the TV series. The adaptation is being spread out over three feature films, with two TV “seasons” bridging the gap between each film. In the interview with MTV, Grazer also revealed that the first story they’re exploring is The Gunslinger, which is the first book in King’s Dark Tower series. Hit the jump for more on The Dark Tower.

by Adam Chitwood Posted: March 1st, 2011
Quickly shaping up to be one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors, Summit has announced that Nicholas Hoult has signed on to star in an adaptation of the Isaac Marion novel Warm Bodies. Hoult recently nabbed the lead in Bryan Singer’s epic adventure tale Jack the Giant Killer, and will next be seen as Beast in X-Men: First Class which opens in May. When an existentially tormented zombie named “R” (Hoult) begins an unlikely friendship with the girlfriend of one of his victims, it starts a chain reaction that will transform him, his fellow zombies, and maybe the whole lifeless world.
The film will shoot late this summer, after Hoult finishes up with Jack the Giant Killer. Jonathan Levine (The Wackness) wrote and will direct the adaptation. The flick has been in development for quite a while, with Levine signing on to the project over a year ago. Hit the jump to read a synopsis of the novel.

by Christina Radish Posted: March 1st, 2011

Happythankyoumoreplease, written, directed by and starring How I Met Your Mother’s Josh Radnor, is a new comedy about a group of 20-somethings who are learning to navigate life and love in New York. On his way to a meeting with a publisher, aspiring novelist Sam Wexler (Radnor) meets Rasheen (Michael Algieri), a young boy separated from his family on the subway. During that time, the boy meets Sam’s friends, including Annie (Malin Akerman), who has the auto-immune disorder alopecia, Mary-Catherine (Zoe Kazan) and Charlie (Pablo Schreiber), whose possible move to Los Angeles threatens their relationship, and Mississippi (Kate Mara), a waitress who also happens to be an aspiring singer that catches Sam’s eye, but also tests his fear of commitment when she wants him to open up to her.
At the film’s press day, Josh Radnor did this exclusive interview with Collider and talked about how the film came about for him, how excited he is for audiences to finally get to see it, what he learned from the experience of writing and directing that will help him in the future, and the scenes he cut that he plans to put on the DVD/Blu-ray. Lionsgate Moves Up ONE FOR THE MONEY to June 3
by Brendan Bettinger Posted: March 1st, 2011
Lionsgate has moved the Katherine Heigl-led comedy One for the Money from July 8 to June 3. On the original July release date, One for the Money would have been one of three comedies opposite The Zookeeper and Horrible Bosses. Variety suggests the switch is counterprogramming tactic; action tentpole X-Men: First Class is the only other film scheduled for June 3.
Heigl plays “a down-and-out woman who takes a last-ditch job working for her cousin’s bail bond business, and her biggest client turns out to be her high-school heartbreaker.” Jason O’Mara, John Leguizamo, and Debbie Reynolds also star, directed by Julie Anne Robinson (The Last Song) from a script by Liz Brixius (Nurse Jackie). One for the Money is based on the novel of the same name by Janet Evanovich; hit the jump for a synopsis.
