Fright Night Official Synopsis

Craig Gillespie's remake of the seminal 1985 vampire classic Fright Night is set to hit theaters next summer, arriving on August 19th of 2011. DreamWorks has unveiled the official plot synopsis for this completely fresh take on a very familiar situation involving cool kids, dorks, and the sexy vampire-next-door.

Here is the official plot description:

Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he's running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he's so cool he's even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there's something not quite right-but everyone, including Charlie's mom (Toni Collette), doesn't notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.

Fright Night comes to theaters August 19th, 2011 and stars Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette, David Tennant, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Sandra Vergara. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie.

Vin Diesel to Play a Terminator?
Apr 19, 2011 by Brian Gallagher
Director Justin Lin is currently promoting his high-octane sequel Fast Five, due in theaters April 29, and there is talk about his potential involvement in The Terminator franchise.
Back in February, a report surfaced that indicated Universal Pictures wants to pair up Justin Lin and screenwriter Chris Morgan for a new Terminator movie, and it seems the director has discusses the prospect with Fast Five star Vin Diesel. Here's what the director had to say below.

"Vin's been a really great partner on this franchise. We've talked about the mythology [of the Terminator series]...[pause] he's a great guy and a great actor. I really like working with him so anything I do I usually talk to him about. Sometimes we even talk about going back and doing a little indie movie."

The director stopped short of confirming Vin Diesel's involvement in a new Terminator adventure, though.
"You never know."

It isn't clear if Justin Lin and screenwriter Chris Morgan have in fact signed deals to direct and write a Terminator movie yet. Universal is among several studios vying for distribution rights to the franchise, which was purchased by Pacificor last year. There was also talk that Arnold Schwarzenegger may return to the franchise, although that has not been confirmed yet either.

Casting Call: Orlando Bloom, Imgoen Poots and Kerry Condon Join THE LAUREATE; Dane DeHaan Cast in John Hillcoat’s THE WETTEST COUNTY IN THE WORLD

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: January 28th, 2011

A couple casting stories for you today. Orlando Bloom, Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later) and Kerry Condon (The Last Station) have joined the cast of writer/director William Nunez’s feature film debut The Laureate. The film tracks the open love triangle between war poet Robert Graves (Bloom), his artist wife Nancy Nicholson (Condon) and American poet Laura Riding (Poots). Screen Daily (via The Playlist) reports that Bloom will topline the film for Media 8, which plans to look for financiers at the European Film Market next month.
Hit the jump for news on Dane DeHaan joining Shia LaBeuof, Tom Hardy and Jessica Chastain in John Hillcoat’s The Wettest County in the World.

Newcomer Dane DeHaan (HBO’s In Treatment, True Blood) is the latest actor to join director John Hillcoat’s (The Road) adaptation of Matt Bondourant’s period thriller The Wettest County in the World. The screenplay from Nick Cave (The Proposition) centers on “a family of Prohibition-era bootleggers, and crimes committed by and against them.” We previously told you that Shia Labeouf and Tom Hardy had joined the cast as the middle and youngest brother, respectively, with Labeouf’s role being the lead in the film. Rising star Jessica Chastain (Terrence Malick’s upcoming Tree of Life) also stars in the film as Hardy’s love interest.
Up and Comers reports (via The Playlist) that DeHaan will play teenage bootlegger Cricket, who is crippled by rickets and is Labeouf’s partner-in-crime. Production is set to get underway on the film next month. Here’s a synopsis of Matt Bondourant’s novel:
Based on the true story of Matt Bondurant’s grandfather and two granduncles, The Wettest County in the World is a gripping tale of brotherhood, greed, and murder. The Bondurant Boys were a notorious gang of roughnecks and moonshiners who ran liquor through Franklin County, Virginia, during Prohibition and in the years after. Forrest, the eldest brother, is fierce, mythically indestructible, and the consummate businessman; Howard, the middle brother, is an ox of a man besieged by the horrors he witnessed in the Great War; and Jack, the youngest, has a taste for luxury and a dream to get out of Franklin. Driven and haunted, these men forge a business, fall in love, and struggle to stay afloat as they watch their family die, their father’s business fail, and the world they know crumble beneath the Depression and drought.
White mule, white lightning, firewater, popskull, wild cat, stump whiskey, or rotgut — whatever you called it, Franklin County was awash in moonshine in the 1920s. When Sherwood Anderson, the journalist and author of Winesburg, Ohio, was covering a story there, he christened it the “wettest county in the world.” In the twilight of his career, Anderson finds himself driving along dusty red roads trying to find the Bondurant brothers, piece together the clues linking them to “The Great Franklin County Moonshine Conspiracy,” and break open the silence that shrouds Franklin County. DRIVE ANGRY 3D Motion Poster

With director Patrick Lussier’s (My Bloody Valentine) 3D revenge flick Drive Angry 3D getting released February 25, Summit has released a very cool motion poster to help promote the flick. Starring Nicolas Cage, Amber Heard, William Fichtner, Billy Burke, and David Morse, Drive Angry 3D is about a tough as nails criminal (Cage) who breaks out of Hell on a quest for redemption. Fichtner plays a character simply named “The Accountant”, a mysterious demonic agent sent to retrieve Cage and return him to the fiery depths from which he came.  I did a set visit last year and everything I learned while there tells me this is going to be an extremely fun ride that you’re going to want to take.
For a taste of what’s to come, watch this NSFW clip.  Otherwise, hit the jump to check out the poster, or click here for all our previous coverage.
