James Franco - Spirit Awards 2011 Winner!

James Franco is all smiles as he poses in the press room of the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards at Santa Monica Beach on Saturday (February 26) in Santa Monica, Calif.
The 32-year-old actor won the award for Best Male Lead for his work in 127 Hours.
Last night, James threw a party at his new bar, The Writer’s Room. His younger brother Dave Franco and Paul Walker were in attendance.
Tomorrow, James and Anne Hathaway will be hosting the 2011 Oscars! Tune in at 8pm on ABC.

Mia Wasikowska & Amber Tamblyn - Spirit Awards 2011

For the opening ceremony Mia wore a Rodarte Tiered Lace Dress and Nicholas Kirkwood Cream and Washed Silver Leather Sandal.

The 21-year-old Aussie actress is currently in talks to star in the upcoming film Stoker, a thriller which was written by Prison Break star Wentworth Miller.

***Film Independent Spirit Award Nominations Announced; Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress

Film Independent Spirit Award Nominations Announced; WINTER’S BONE Leads with 7 Nominations

The nominations for the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards have been announced.  Here’s a quick breakdown of some interesting facts about the nominees.  After winning the top prize at the Gotham Awards last night, Winter’s Bone leads the pack with seven nominations.  And if you need more proof that the Best Actress race this year is crazy, it was the only category with a six nominees.

It’s also a good year for women filmmakers as Lisa Cholodenok (The Kids Are All Right) and Debra Granik (Winter’s Bone) pick up nominations for Best Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay. Nicole Holofcener also picked up a Best Screenplay nomination along with the Robert Altman Award for Please Give. Hit the jump for a full list of the nominees.  The Film Independent Spirit Awards will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 10pm ET/PT on IFC.
