James McAvoy to Star in British Crime Thriller WELCOME TO THE PUNCH
by Matt Goldberg Posted: April 12th, 2011
James McAvoy has announced that he’s planning to star in Eran Creevy’s crime thriller Welcome to the Punch. According to The Playlist, the movie is in the vein of Michael Mann’s Heat “involves a London detective, Max Lewinsky (likely the role for McAvoy), whose old nemesis, an armed robber known as Red Diesel, reappears after five years away—but it’s only the tip of a massive conspiracy.” The Playlist adds that “the script’s mostly very strong, a gripping cop thriller with a scope and a level of action that’s quite uncommon for the British film industry.” For those unfamiliar with Creevy, he previously directed the low-budget drama Shifty, which became a cult hit in the UK, but was never released stateside.
Deadline reports that filming is expected to begin in July, which leaves time for McAvoy to make his rumored reunion with Atonement director Joe Wright in an adaptation of Anna Karenina. McAvoy will next be seen in theaters on June 3rd as the young Charles Xavier in X-Men: First Class.

New Images of Ryan Reynolds in Full GREEN LANTERN Costume
by Matt Goldberg Posted: April 12th, 2011
Warner Bros. has released three new images of Ryan Reynolds in his full Green Lantern costume. Since the suit is entirely CGI and was made that way so it could pulsate, glow, and do other kinds of neat visual effects, still images don’t really do it justice. I’m more interested in seeing how it’s represented on screen and in motion.
Hit the jump to check out the costume shots. The film also stars Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, and Mark Strong. Green Lantern opens in 3D on June 17th. Click here for all of our coverage on the flick.
First Look at Josh Brolin as Young Agent K in MEN IN BLACK III
by Matt Goldberg Posted: April 12th, 2011
It looks like Men in Black 3 must have sorted out its script issues (whether those issues were sorted out successfully remains to be seen) because filming has resumed on the flick and we now have our first look at Josh Brolin who plays the younger version of Tommy Lee Jones’ character, Agent K. For those unfamiliar with the plot, the story this time around involved Agent J (Will Smith) going back to the 1960s to save K and thus prevent a universe-ending catastrophe. If you can imagine Josh Brolin with slicked-back hair and wearing a black suit and tie, then you have a pretty good idea of what the character looks like. If you can’t imagine that, then hit the jump and check out some set photos.
Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, the film also stars Alice Eve, Emma Thompson, Nicole Scherzinger, Rip Torn and Johnny Knoxville. Men in Black 3 opens in 3D on May 25, 2012.
