First Look at the Trailer for Tarsem Singh’s IMMORTALS [UPDATED]
by Matt Goldberg Posted: April 26th, 2011
The trailer for Tarsem Singh’s Immortals has made its way online but in the worst way possible. I caught the trailer at WonderCon and was impressed by its lush and dazzling visuals. So what’s the worst way everyone else could get their first look at it? By premiering it on E! News with the anchorwoman talking over the footage and then having that presentation taped off a television and uploaded to YouTube. Relativity (the studio behind the film) needs to put the HD version online ASAP.
Hit the jump to check out the less-than-impressive version of the trailer. Obviously we’ll update the story when a higher-quality version makes its way online. Immortals stars Henry Cavill, Freida Pinto, Luke Evans, Isabel Lucas, Kellan Lutz, and Mickey Rourke. The film opens in 3D on November 11th.
[Update: We've updated the article with a better quality version of the video]

Anthony Mandler to Direct DIE IN A GUNFIGHT Starring Zac Efron
by Adam Chitwood Posted: April 26th, 2011
Director Anthony Mandler has been tapped to helm Media Rights Capital’s Die in a Gunfight. The film, said to be a “Tarantino-esque blend of Gossip Girl, True Romance, and Romeo and Juliet” has Zac Efron attached to star. The script was written by recent NYU grads Andrew Barer and Gabriel Ferrari and tells the story of the deadbeat son of a successful New York attorney who falls in love with the daughter of his father’s nemesis.
Deadline reports that Mandler, a photographer who has previously helmed commercials and music videos, will direct the film, though it’s not known how soon the flick would start production. I think Efron’s a fine actor when he chooses the right projects, and I’d much rather see him taking risks with this kind of material rather than star in another Nicholas Sparks adaptation. The actor recently wrapped Garry Marshall’s New Year’s Eve and is attached to star in an untitled romantic-actioner from screenwriter Matt Drake.
William Forsythe and Charlie Cox Join the Second Season of BOARDWALK EMPIRE
by Ethan Anderton Posted: April 26th, 2011
We won’t see the series return until the later part of the year, but casting for the second season of Boardwalk Empire is already underway. THR reports William Forsythe (The Rock, Blue Streak) will have a recurring role on the series as a gangster named Manny Horvitz. Of course the actor is no stranger to crime dramas having played Al Capone in The Untouchables TV series back in the 90’s. In addition, Charlie Cox (Stardust) has also joined the cast as an Irish gangster with ties to the IRA. We’re still not sure just what story will be the focus on the second season, but no matter what, I’m already looking forward to the series returning later this year.
Red-Band Trailer and Six Character Posters for BRIDESMAIDS
by Matt Goldberg Posted: April 26th, 2011
Universal has released a new red-band trailer for Bridesmaids along with six character posters. I caught the film a couple weeks ago and overall I thought it was fantastic and a much-needed kick in the ass to the chick flick genre. Women, if you like raunchy humor but are tired of only seeing it in movies featuring man-children, you’ll dig Bridesmaids. Guys, if you’re thinking about avoiding this movie because of the all-female cast, you’ll be missing out. The movie is damn funny and surprisingly heartfelt and I hope folks of both genders go see it.
Hit the jump to check out the red-band trailer along with six character posters. Bridesmaids stars Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Wendi Mclendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper, and Melissa McCarthy. The film opens May 13th.

Paul Walker to Star in and Executive Produce VEHICLE 19
by Adam Chitwood Posted: April 26th, 2011
While he’s currently preparing for the US release of Fast Five (and also presumably gearing up for those sequels), Paul Walker is also busy working behind the scenes on his next project. The actor will star in and executive produce the indie thriller Vehicle 19. Directed by South African filmmaker Mukunda Michael Dewil, the film centers on a foreign traveler who picks up the wrong rental car, only to be caught up in a “web of corruption by the local police.”
Heat Vision reports that the plan is to shoot in South Africa at the end of this summer. Walker is currently doing the press rounds for the fifth film in the Fast and Furious franchise. Yesterday it was reported that future sequels will switch genres from street racing, to heist films. No word on whether the genre change omits Walker’s character.
