DEXTER Creator to Helm LOVE, SCOTCH AND DEATH Starring Michael C. Hall and Vera Farmiga

James Manos Jr., who created the Showtime series Dexter, is poised to make his feature directorial debut with Love, Scotch and Death. The semi-autobiographical film was written by Manos and will star Michael C. Hall and Vera Farmiga. Deadline reports that the story follows a very strange week in the protagonist’s life. Hall’s character returns home from a stressful vacation to find out that his parents have died, leading him on a bizarre path where he encounters “an unsympathetic funeral director, his bewildered children and manic wife, an eccentric priest, and some over-sexed neighbors.”

Filming is scheduled to begin on the independent film this November, after Hall wraps the latest season of Dexter. Manos previously wrote for The Sopranos, winning an Emmy for co-writing the classic first season episode “College.”

Drew Barrymore Talks Next Directorial Project HOW TO BE SINGLE

Drew Barrymore is poised to make her second feature as a director (after 2009’s Whip It) with the adaptation of Liz Tuccillo’s novel How to Be Single. The romantic comedy follows the “love lives and break-ups of a group of New Yorkers over the span of ten years.” Barrymore recently spoke a bit about the project:

“This has a very wide palette that I really really like. I’m so interested in so many different types of people and lifestyles that there is kind of a lovely mosaic, like a little bit for everybody.”

The screenwriting team from He’s Just Not That Into You, Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn, are set to script the film. Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen (who also produced He’s Just Not That Into You) will produce. First Trailer for ABDUCTION Starring Taylor Lautner

The first trailer for the action thriller Abduction, starring Taylor Lautner, has been released. Directed by John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood) the thriller centers around a young man who sets out to uncover the truth after finding a baby photo of himself listed on a missing persons website. While Lautner’s acting still seems a bit too ham-fisted to be taken seriously, the supporting cast is fairly impressive and some of the action sequences actually looked pretty cool. I understand Lautner’s desire to move on to bigger and better things post-Twilight, but the guy’s no Tom Cruise.

Abduction stars Lautner, Lily Collins, Sigourney Weaver, Danny Glover, Alfred Molina, Michael Nyqvist, Maria Bello, and Jason Isaacs. The film is set to be released on September 23rd. Hit the jump to watch the trailer.

Olga Kurylenko and Liana Liberato Join Aaron Eckhart in THE EXPATRIATE

Since he was first cast in the spy thriller The Expatriate last November, Aaron Eckhart has become a bona fide action star thanks to Battle: Los Angeles ($105 million worldwide and counting). Appropriately, Eckhart will be awarded his own Bond girl for his follow-up. Variety reports Quantum of Solace siren Olga Kurylenko will play “a CIA agent assigned to track down her former CIA partner and lover (Eckhart).” Additionally, Liana Liberato (Trust) has been cast as Eckhart’s daughter. Director Philipp Stölzl is currently filming The Expatriate in Montreal; production will shift to Brussels in May.

A new trailer and poster for two-time Oscar-nominated director Roland Joffe’s (The Killing Fields) There Be Dragons have debuted online. Featuring a solid cast that includes Charlie Cox (Stardust), Wes Bentley (American Beauty), Dougray Scott (Mission: Impossible II), and Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace), There Be Dragons follows investigative journalist Robert Torres (Scott) as he attempts to uncover secrets from his father’s (Bentley) overlapping, and super-secretive, past.

As for the trailer, it showcases a bombastic score and beautiful cinematography coupled with what looks to be convincing turns from all sides (especially Bentley and Scott). To check it out along with the poster and full synopsis, hit the jump. There Be Dragons opens later this year on May 6th.

Seth Meyers and Jon Bon Jovi Join Garry Marshall’s NEW YEAR’S EVE

Maybe it would just be easier to report who’s not going to be in director Garry Marshall’s New Year’s Eve. Seth Meyers and Jon Bon Jovi have joined the cast of this pseudo-sequel to last year’s equally star-studded Valentine’s Day. At this point, the cast for New Year’s Eve includes Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel, Halle Berry, Zac Efron, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank, Sienna Miller, Lea Michele, Sofia Vergara and German actor Til Schweiger.

According to THR, Bon Jovi will play (surprise!) a successful rock star, whose ex-girlfriend (Halle Berry) turns up at the same party he attends. Meyers will play Biel’s husband, who’s trying to get her to deliver their baby on New Year’s Eve in order to win a prize of $25,000. The film is set to being shooting in New York soon, and will hit theaters on December 9^th, which is not New Year’s Eve.

Thomas McDonnell to Star in Producer Shawn Levy’s THE SPECTACULAR NOW; 500 DAYS OF SUMMER Writing Team to Adapt

Actor Thomas McDonnell (The Forbidden Kingdom, Prom) has been tapped to play the lead in director Lee Toland Krieger’s (The Vicious Kind) adaptation of Tim Tharp’s novel The Spectacular Now. The project has been gestating for a few years, with Summer helmer Marc Webb working on it before he went off to work on the Spider-Man reboot. Variety reports that Shawn Levy (Real Steel) will produce, with the script being written by the writing team behind (500) Days of Summer, Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber. The story revolves around a wild, hard-drinking hard-partying high-school senior who starts dating a shy, insecure girl who ends up changing his life. Hit the jump to read the synopsis of the novel.

Unlike most high school seniors, Sutter Keely—the narrator of this smart, superbly written novel—is not concerned with the future. Olga Kurylenko Biography and Photos

Olha Kostiantynivna Kurylenko (Ukrainian: Ольга Костянтинівна Куриленко, Russian: Ольга Константиновна Куриленко; born November 14, 1979) better known as Olga Kurylenko, is a Ukrainian actress and model. She is perhaps best known as the Bond girl, Camille Montes, in the 22nd James Bond film, Quantum of Solace. She also portrayed Nika Boronina in the movie adaptation of the video game Hitman. Born in Ukraine, she became a French citizen in 2001.

Early life and background

Olga Kurylenko was born in Berdyansk, Ukraine. Her father Konstantin is Ukrainian and her mother, Marina Alyabusheva, is an art teacher of Russian and Belarusian descent, who was born in Irkutsk Oblast, Russia.

She grew up in a typical Soviet household, in an apartment she shared with her aunt and uncle, grandparents, and cousin. She never had any fancy clothes, often wearing hand-me-downs, babushkas, and re-sewing torn sweaters instead of buying new ones. "I couldn't have anything, basically," she has said of her childhood. "I couldn't have any clothes I wanted, shoes, beds, clothes for school — because my mum couldn't buy them."

When Kurylenko was three years old, her parents divorced, leaving her to be raised by her mother. Kurylenko rarely had contact with her father, meeting him for the first time when she was eight years old, and later again when she was 13.

Career

Kurylenko was discovered by a female model scout while on vacation in Moscow at the age of 13. When she was 17, she signed a contract with the Paris-based Madison modeling agency. By the age of 18, she had already appeared on the covers of Vogue and Elle. While working as a model in Paris, Kurylenko supported her mother back home in Ukraine.

She also appeared on the covers of Madame Figaro and Marie Claire.

She became the face of Triumph lingerie, Lejaby lingerie, Bebe, Clarins, and Helena Rubinstein. Furthermore, she modelled for Roberto Cavalli and Kenzo, and appeared in the Victoria's Secret catalog.

Kurylenko's first acting appearance was in Seal's music video, 'Love's Divine' in 2003, but her film career began in France during 2005. She received the certificate of excellence award at the 2006 Brooklyn International Film Festival for her performance in L'Annulaire, and also starred in the Paris, je t'aime segment Quartier de la Madeleine opposite Elijah Wood. That same year, she was selected to be the face of Kenzo's new fragrance, Kenzo Amour. She has appeared in all subsequent Kenzo Amour ads. In 2007, Kurylenko starred in Hitman alongside Timothy Olyphant, in which she did a full nude scene. She had a minor role in Max Payne as Natasha. She played Bond girl Camille Montes in the 2008 James Bond film, Quantum of Solace. The film was released in the United States on her 29th birthday.

Kurylenko was featured on the cover of the December 2008 issue of the US edition of Maxim and on the cover of the February 2009 issue of the Ukrainian edition of Maxim magazine.

The fact that she is the first Bond girl from a post-Soviet state received mixed reactions in Russia. The Saint Petersburg based Communist group KPLO has accused her of "moral and intellectual betrayal" in starring in a film about the "enemy of the Soviet people" (meaning James Bond) (Kurylenko considered that a PR move,) but the mayor of Berdyansk has suggested naming a street after her and Kurylenko and her mother met Ukraine's First Lady Kateryna Yushchenko in President Yushchenko's family country house.

Kurylenko will appear in Terrence Malick's sixth feature, shot in fall 2010 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Also starring Ben Affleck, Javier Bardem and Rachel McAdams, the film is currently in post-production.

Personal life

In 2000, Kurylenko married French fashion photographer Cedric van Mol, but the couple divorced four years later. In 2006, she married American mobile phone accessory entrepreneur Damian Gabrielle. They divorced in late 2007. Kurylenko lived in Paris after leaving Ukraine in 1996 to pursue her modeling career, but moved to London in 2009. In 2001, she was granted French citizenship.

The new generation of Ukrainians are energetic and want to drastically change the world for the better, and it will fight for change.

In an October 2009 chat session with Komsomolskaya Pravda Ukraine, she stated that she does not intend to move back to Ukraine, or to remarry.

Kurylenko speaks Ukrainian, Russian, English, French; she also claims she can speak Spanish and can understand Italian.

Kurylenko is a philanthropist noted for her work for the underprivileged, focusing on children in her native Ukraine. In an interview with the December 2009 edition of Alliance Magazine, she outlined her goal of using her profile to draw attention to her chosen causes, saying: "I have this fame now, I have to use it. If you can at least spread the word it's already good."
