David O. Russell and Mark Wahlberg May Re-Team for "Cocaine Cowboys"
Posted: February 23rd, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com StaffDavid O Russell's name has been all over the news lately, both for his award-winning "The Fighter" and his re-teaming with Mark Wahlberg for a big screen adaptation of the "Uncharted" video game.
Russell now tells The Playlist website that "Uncharted" may not be his next projects. There are plenty that he's considering, including "Cocaine Cowboys" that also has Wahlberg attached.
We heard about the project back in 2008, when Wahlberg was working with director Peter Berg (Hancock).
The story revolves around Jon Roberts, an injured Vietnam vet - who by age 20 - ended up involved in gangland takeovers of New York City nightclubs in the early '70s. By the end of the decade, Roberts landed in Miami, dealt billions of dollars worth of cocaine for the Medellin drug cartel and ultimately spent 10 years in prison.
