Sheldon Turner's By Virtue Fall in Development


Carla Gugino and James Spader join the cast of By Virtue FallSheldon Turner's dramatic thriller By Virtue Fall, which has been in development with Eric Bana and Colin Farrell attached to star, has added some new actors, but has lost Colin Farrell.


According to 24 Frames , James Spader, Ryan Phillippe and Carla Gugino have boarded the project.


By Virtue Fall is written and will be directed by Sheldon Turner, and centers on a newly-released ex-con seeks revenge upon his mentor who framed him for a crime he didn't commit.


No production date has been set.


By Virtue Fall comes to theaters in 2011 and stars Eric Bana, James Spader, Ryan Phillippe, Carla Gugino. The film is directed by Sheldon Turner.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo London Set Photos with Hooded Rooney Mara


The Social Network director David Fincher is currently in London, England filming the stateside remake of Stieg Larsson's popular mystery novel The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Cast members Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara were both spotted on set in costume as journalist Mikael Blomkvist and private investigator Lisbeth Salander. You can check out these latest images below.



The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo comes to theaters December 21st, 2011 and stars Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Robin Wright, Stellan Skarsgård, Christopher Plummer, Joely Richardson, Yorick van Wageningen, Steven Berkoff. The film is directed by David Fincher.

Hugo Cabret Photo Featuring Johnny Depp
Director Martin Scorsese's 3D adaptation Hugo Cabret will hit theaters on November 23, and it will feature a surprise appearance by Johnny Depp. Take a look at a brand new set photo, which features Johnny Depp in the background as Monsieur Rouleau, with Chloe Moretz and Asa Butterfield. We also have Johnny Depp's shooting schedule below.

The photo came from a story in the French magazine Le Parisian about photographer Brigitte Lacombe. Here's what an insider, who also provided the shooting schedule, had to say.




"The scan is from an article about photographer Brigitte Lacombe in an issue of Le Parisien from last week. The translated caption reads: 'left to right, Johnny Depp as M. Rouleau, Chloe Moretz as Isabella (sic), and Asa Butterfield as Hugo.'


I also included Depp's shooting schedule for the film. His role, Monsieur Rouleau, is character #11."




Johnny Depp's involvement in Hugo Cabret was previously unknown. It isn't said how large the role of Monsieur Rouleau is.


Hugo Cabret comes to theaters November 23rd, 2011 and stars Asa Butterfield, Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, Chloe Moretz, Jude Law, Ray Winstone, Christopher Lee, Helen McCrory. The film is directed by Martin Scorsese.

Sheldon Turner to Write BIG TUNA for Michael Mann

Director Michael Mann (Heat) has hired Sheldon Turner, the screenwriter partly responsible for Clooney comedy Up In The Air, to write his new crime thriller, Big Tuna. The movie will be a biopic of Chicago crime lord Tony Accardo, and his young protege Sam Giancana, who eventually replaced him. For Michael Mann, this will be his second attempt at a gangster biopic, the first being the disappointing Public Enemies last year, which starred Johnny Depp as notorious bank robber, John Dillinger. Variety reports that Mann’s chosen scribe, Sheldon Turner, is a wanted man himself at the minute, attached to numerous high profile projects including his directorial debut, By Virtue Fall, starring Colin Farrell and Eric Bana, and as producer for rom-com, Kiss and Tell. Mann says the film will detail the life of “an older man who was the undisputed boss at a time when the Chicago outfit was the most powerful crime element in America. It becomes a classic tragedy of megalomania and hubris.”

Mann evidently has a lot of faith in Turner’s writing finesse as without backing of a studio yet, he’s funding the screenwriter’s seven figure fee for Big Tuna from his own development fund. Sheldon Turner is exceptionally busy with responsibilities across the board; directing, writing and producing for various studios. In addition to the titles mentioned above, he’s working on Man Camp, Path’s of Glory, Orbit and Two Minutes to Midnight.
The fact Big Tuna is in the pipeline doesn’t necessarily mean it will be Michael Mann’s next film. As far as we know, Mann is still helming Agincourt, a movie based on the 15th Century epic battle of Agincourt between England and France, and also intends to continue with yet another biopic, this time detailing the life of WWII photographer Robert Capa. His success with this type of movie in the past hasn’t been overwhelming (think Ali), but practice makes perfect I suppose. Plus, he’s had some time out of film working with HBO on their upcoming horse racing series Luck which should air in September next year, so fingers crossed we can expect a return to form.

New Posters for BLACK SWAN, BLITZ, and BARNEY’S VERSION

A large part of the excitement surrounding the release of a new movie is often provoked by the poster’s artwork. I’m not sure it can make or break a movie, but these three new posters would look good on any collector’s wall. Black Swan, Blitz and Barney’s Version are all boasting brand new posters, beckoning viewers. Hit the jump to see them.

In the fictional Oscar category for Best Movie Poster, Black Swan would surely win. So far, each of its posters has managed to capture the visual beauty of Darren Aronofsky’s film, which we recently reviewed. In the new image, we can almost read pretty ballerina Natalie Portman’s terrifying descent into hell on her pretty, innocent face.  [Poster via IMP Awards]

Jason Statham looks his usual handsome, tough self in one of his his usual don’t-mess-with-me roles on the new poster for Blitz, a crime thriller in which he plays a cop on the hunt for a cop-serial-killer. The movie, directed by Elliot Lester and due to hit screens next summer, also stars Luke Evans, David Morrissey, Aidan Gillen and Paddy Considine. Watch the trailer here.  [Poster via IGN]

Barney’s Version presents a quad poster, which basically shows slices of the film and gives you a general idea of this cool movie that, incomprehensibly, is only benefiting from a limited release in the US on January 14, 2011.
Starring Paul Giamatti as the irascible title character, Barney’s Version is based on the memoirs of a man who, after two failed marriages, meets Ms. Right. The cast also features Dustin Hoffman as his father, Jake Hoffman (yes, Dustin’s son) as Barney’s son Michael, Scott Speedman as his best friend and Rosamund Pike, Minnie Driver and Rachelle Lefevre as the women in his life.
