Teri Polo and Dermot Mulroney Look BEYOND

by Jason Barr    Posted: December 16th, 2010

Teri Polo and Dermot Mulroney have signed on to star in the thriller Beyond.  Directed by Josef Rusnak (The 13th Floor), the film follows a detective and a television psychic as they attempt to find a missing child.  Polo and Mulroney join a cast that features Jon Voight and Julian Morris (ABC’s shortlived My Generation).  According to Heat Vision, Polo will be playing the role of the missing child’s mother/Voight’s daughter while the details of Mulroney’s turn are left to the imagination.  While no release date has been set, the film is currently shooting in Alaska.
As for upcoming work, you can catch Polo in Little Fockers which hits theaters on December 22nd.  In Mulroney’s case, the actor is appearing alongside Kristen Bell, Drew Barrymore, and John Krasinski in the upcoming Ken Kwapis (He’s Just Not That Into You) romance, Everybody Loves Whales.  He also recently starred in the drama Inhale; a film from Iceland’s own Baltasar Kormakur that received only limited release in the States.

Eric Bana, Olivia Wilde, and Charlie Hunnam Are KIN

by Brendan Bettinger    Posted: December 16th, 2010

Eric Bana (The Time Traveler’s Wife), Olivia Wilde (Tron: Legacy) and Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) are in talks to star in KIN.  Per Variety, the crime thriller follows “two desperate sibling fugitives (Bana and Wilde) on the run who subsequently collide with the holiday homecoming of a troubled ex-boxer (Hunnam).”  Stefan Ruzowitzky (The Counterfeiters) will direct from a script by Zach Dean; filming begins this March in Canada.
I really like this cast (assuming they sign on).  I’ve been 30% more interested in Bana’s career since Funny People.  Hunnam pulled a reverse Bana, now officially beyond being known as “the charming Brit on Undeclared.”  And Wilde has been the most interesting actor on House not named Hugh Laurie for a few seasons now, not to mention the go-to twentysomething for the sci-fi films of the next couple years: Tron: Legacy, Cowboys & Aliens, Now.  Let’s do this, Oscar winner Stefan Ruzowitzky.

James Mangold to Direct THE GUNSLINGER

by Brendan Bettinger    Posted: December 16th, 2010

James Mangold (Knight and Day) is attached to direct The Gunslinger, a revenge thriller described as a contemporary Western.  According to Heat Vision, the spec script from John Hlavin (The Shield) centers on “an ex-Texas Ranger who sets out to punish the men who killed his brother.”  Andrew Lazar (Jonah Hex) will produce along with Cathy Konrad, Mangold’s wife and producing partner.  New Regency is hoping to start shooting in the spring.
I’m excited to see who they cast for this one — a manly lead role if there ever were one.  Mangold’s 3:10 to Yuma stars Russell Crowe and Christian Bale seem like good candidates.  Shia LaBeouf would be great, obviously, but I say that about every movie.
