Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks Confirmed for Alex Kurtzman’s WELCOME TO PEOPLE; Brief Official Synopsis Released and Info on a Casting Call

Earlier today we told you that Elizabeth Banks was in talks to star in screenwriter Alex Kurtzman’s directorial debut Welcome to People. Now, DreamWorks confirms to us that Banks has officially joined Chris Pine in the cast. Kurtzman directs from a script by himself, Roberto Orci, and Jody Lambert (Of All The Things). Kurtzman and Orci are, of course, the screenwriting duo behind Star Trek and Transformers. Per DreamWorks, the planned PG-13 film is “a drama about a young businessman (Pine) who returns home after his estranged father’s sudden death, only to uncover a devastating family secret, which sends him on an unexpected journey of self-discovery.” Producers are also holding an open casting call for an 11-13 year old male named Josh who is “athletic, independent, and confident.” Hit the jump to check out the full press release which includes where to go for the open casting call.Here’s the press release. CASTING CALL FOR LEAD ROLE IN UPCOMING “WELCOME TO PEOPLE” MOVIE STARRING CHRIS PINE AND ELIZABETH BANKS DREAMWORKS STUDIOS LOOKING FOR YOUNG MALE ACTOR (AGE 11-13)
DreamWorks Studios has launched a casting search to fill a lead role in its upcoming movie “Welcome to People,” it was announced today by DreamWorks Studios.
Actors interested in the role are invited to attend an open casting call on Saturday, December 4, 2010 in Los Angeles, California. No acting experience is necessary for interested actors, nor are they required to prepare anything for the audition.
Role to be cast is ‘Josh’: Male, 11-13 years old, Caucasian, athletic, independent, and confident. Interested actors should be able to memorize lots of dialogue. Film will be rated PG-13 and actors should be comfortable with dialogue reflecting that rating.

If you’ve been looking forward to Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan, you’re about to be very happy. That’s because we’ve been provided with 9 clips and you can check them all out after the jump. As I’ve said a number of times, Black Swan is one of the best films of the year and Natalie Portman is absolutely getting nominated for an Oscar for her amazing work. In fact, I think she’ll win.
And while Portman is phenomenal, credit has to be given to Aronofsky has taking everything he’s learned over the past few years and created what might be his best work. While I love to nitpick movies, I wouldn’t change a thing about Black Swan. Hit the jump for the clips. The film opens this weekend in limited release.
Here’s the synopsis:A psychological thriller set in the world of New York City ballet, BLACK SWAN stars Natalie Portman as Nina, a featured dancer who finds herself locked in a web of competitive intrigue with a new rival at the company (Mila Kunis). A Fox Searchlight Pictures release by visionary director Darren Aronofsky (THE WRESTLER), BLACK SWAN takes a thrilling and at times terrifying journey through the psyche of a young ballerina whose starring role as the duplicitous swan queen turns out to be a part for which she becomes frighteningly perfect.
BLACK SWAN follows the story of Nina (Portman), a ballerina in a New York City ballet company whose life, like all those in her profession, is completely consumed with dance. She lives with her retired ballerina mother Erica (Barbara Hershey) who zealously supports her daughter’s professional ambition. When artistic director Thomas Leroy (Vincent Cassel) decides to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre (Winona Ryder) for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice. But Nina has competition: a new dancer, Lily (Kunis), who impresses Leroy as well. Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play both the White Swan with innocence and grace, and the Black Swan, who represents guile and sensuality. Nina fits the White Swan role perfectly but Lily is the personification of the Black Swan. As the two young dancers expand their rivalry into a twisted friendship, Nina begins to get more in touch with her dark side with a recklessness that threatens to destroy her.
Ray Wise Joins X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

And here I thought we were done with all the X-Men: First Class casting news. It turns out that’s not the case as Ray Wise (Twin Peaks) tells IGN that he’ll be playing the Secretary of State in Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming prequel. Wise says he’ll be going to shoot in a couple weeks and that that he thinks his role might require a bit of special effects. Wise can be seen on TV this week in a special Twin Peaks-homage episode of USA Network’s Psych.Hit the jump for a full cast breakdown along with the official synopsis.
